Agree FS2024 graphics and performance have improved for myself compared to 2020. Only graphics problem I have is the melting photogrammetry problem which is surprising given my Starlink provides a consistent >150Mbps.
It is amazing how a console can run this and 2020, from the details of the planes down to the cockpit and all its knobs and buttons and then you got the whole world to explore. Yes it has problems but can see it getting better over time
Finally, we have a sim where you can plan a VFR flight and use landmarks, roads, rivers, railway lines, power pylons, lakes, coastlines, parks, graveyards, golf courses and god knows what else to navigate using your heading and mark one eyeball to navigate. A boon for real pilots flying into new airports. Who knows it may even get FAA certified for training.
I just installed 2024 on my Xbox series S last weekend. Only took it for a short spin and it indeed looks tight. I’ll configure my HOTAS One like before and fly around Los Angeles for a good breaking in. 😎
I fully agree with you and the many that are having a great experience with MSFS 2024, the bugs are annoying still for sure but with the updates and fixes along the way will no doubt make this one version that will live up to all hype and expectations of everyone as 2020 was able to do. I know for myself I enjoy the career mode of doing many varieties of flights to gain flight time and experience as many true pilots are going through. We just have to remember it is not the destination that makes the difference its the enjoyment of the journey getting there that truly makes it memorable.
I would totally agree with you. In time who knows how good it will become. Might even see people putting out their washing LOL. The future looks promising for this simulator.

I prefer to see winter scapes full of bare trees and brown grass. The trees in my opinion look more like cauliflower than in 2020. I really love the new EFB and it should really pop once it becomes fully functional
I agree. I think the thing that impresses me most is the ground textures/resolution. Hills and cliffs look decent now, not a blurry mess of overstretched textures. I've never been up in a light plane but it looks more realistic to me, not that 2020 was bad but a number of times the colouring of the ground seemed off and messy. Maybe I'll find that in 2024 at some point but so far, over the same areas local to me, I haven't seen that.

It can equal 2020 but I haven’t seen better yet. I did a video yesterday that to me was the pinnacle of 2020 graphics and I just have not anything that can match it in 2024. I did a flight around Burbank in both and the LOD changes were so frequent. 2024 will get there but for me I like 2020 better at the moment.
I agree with you that most of 2024 looks amazing, and I’m sure they’ll fix problem areas as soon as they can. There are a lot of bugs that are more important to fix first IMO. I’m honestly amazed at how much they’ve already done to improve this beautiful sim and I think it will eventually be better than 2020 in all respects. Like you, I’ll always have a special place for 2020. It’s the first sim I put in more than 15-20 hours (I used keyboard and mouse for a couple of earlier sims 😢) and just went over 600 hours the day before 2024 was released. I know that’s not a lot compared to hard core simmers but I’m more of a virtual tourist than anything. I can see me putting in a lot more hours in 2024, with career mode and photography missions.
Maybe it’s just me, but other than all the bugs, which hopefully will get ironed out like in 2020, I’m finding that the graphics are not a lot better. Still getting some triangulated buildings, poor photogrammetry and some square blocks of trees in some areas. Sometimes I can tell it’s lower resolution, must be because of the streaming. I noticed a definite improvement with the colour and atmosphere, and I’m not getting any more stutters like I did in 2020. I’m very hopeful this will improve with updates and patches and become the best simulator ever! (4090, 64g, VR)
The Sim is amazing to me now. They have a lot of bugs and decreased the loading times significantly. The in game aircraft work better than 2020. It’s an entirely new product and now it’s a platform for many other creative ideas. Wait for the developers to unlock the gems that are built in.
Some of the paying passengers in the CPL career missions are a bit creepy. They say the most cringe worthy things. Maybe the next lot I'll treat to a few unexpected barrel rolls and loops and see what the reaction is. Haha !
I must admit that the graphics do look good but I just wish they'd fix the broken career mode which is the main reason I purchased it. I also found that flying the Optica (a much slower plane) or even a Powrachute (Sky Rascal) the graphics seem to be generating much better through streaming and I also set a 128Gb rolling cache on an SSD Samsung 980 Pro. It also seems that there was a lot of cut & paste between 2020 to 2024 as many of the elevation data mistakes, solid bridges and other problems that were never fixed in 2020 are identical and in the same spots in 2024.
Flying over country in Ireland, I would have hoped to see some livestock. Couldn’t see any. I agree, the visuals have improved over the last week. However there are many other areas where the sim is broken and this frustration drives me back to 2020, for an enjoyable flight.
I agree with you. I found 2024 looks better then 2020. I have not spent a lot of time in the sim because I have been trying to get some of my 3rd party aircraft set up and to working and that is my biggest dissapointment. I fully expected downloading issues one the first day. However, I was dissapointed in some of the sim functions such as the bugs in the menu system. To me those are basic sim functions and should work. My other dissapointment was the lack of 3rd party aircraft being ready on launch day. If I had my Commanch or TBM850 working on launch day, the other sim issues would not of been a concern. I really love my Comanche, Duke, and PC12 once they are working like they should I will be switching over to 2024.
What need to be as sharp as a pin are the lines down the runway centre. Show us those...... In the Plessey Pavavia Tornado Sim from the early nineties, most of the computing power was aimed at getting the landing strip crystal clear. ASOBO use your computers power to draw trees.
Yes martinpatterson9015 is RIGHT ! The graphics are bad in Washington D.C. at the White House….there are palm trees all over the South Lawn when I was on the heli pad ! And in my home town they have a HUGE skyscraper building when there is no such thing……it’s a small rural town in Michigan.
Completely agree, but what would be the reason for the buildings getting uglier the lower/closer you get? My graphics are on ultra, I have a i7-14700K, RTX 4080, 32g of ram and a 300mb internet.
I agree with you when flying GA... But when arriving in an airliner in a large City that you have not recently visited, the graphics are slow lo load and it is rather disappointing, even though I have a high end PC and fast internet connection. This said, I love MSFS 2024 and I believe it will only get better and better.
At times the graphics seem amazing, and I would agree with you in general. However, the performance is very inconsistent. There are times that yes, in fact it looks amazing; however, other times just looks subpar. It also feels very dependent on the aircraft. It is the streaming that is the culprit.
Getting use to my flying set up on my hotas flight controller . And I've started on my career. West Wales looks very sketchie in areas specially around the coast. And they put trees in places which don't need them. Overall London looks great . I've noticed in marketplace most of the stuff I purchased on 2020 FS have been disabled. Does that mean they obsolete now ? Thank you for your videos they great 😊
They were disabled to prevent crashes and conflicts. The marketplace will apparently be available early next year (See my video regarding their recent developer stream).
Depends where you fly. If you fly where I live both are the same because satellite and other imagery is sparse. USA and lots of Europe probably better but it is more GPU hungry. Its like every time a sim is released its for a Pc that hasn't been invented yet
Anyone think there is too many trees more than 2020 I flew over my house I am surrounded by by trees funny I stay on a council estate THINK THE SIM JUST LIKES PUTTING TREES EVERYWHERE MAYBE ITS ENVIRONMENTALLY FRIENDLY HA HA HA👍👍👍👍
Sounds like current users are beta testers! Have at it, guys, just tell us when the rate of “improvements” slows down and the product is ready for general release.
I only fly in VR as I find it so much more immersive. At the moment FS2020 is a better VR experience than FS2024 in my experience. However, the gap is getting narrower. I'm hoping that with future updates the 2024 VR glitches will disappear. There are also a few software changes that I could make to increase the FPS when I have time.
well im still sticking too 2020 for now maybe some time after the new year i may change too 2024 at the moment there is nothing that wants me to change over
Alright! alright! alright!....I finally got my copy(?) of the sim. I was really reticent at first. Of course, my first flight was above my house...let's say: " I will wait for the Japan Update". It looks better in msfs2020 at the moment, but it is early day. After working out the controls binding system I concentrated on career mode. Just done my PPL yesterday and a couple of flight before it told me that I was ready for my CPL. I would have liked a requirement of a few more missions before moving forward. In real life, you don't even think about the CPL before you got tens of hours under your "yoke". All in all, It's way better than I expected. I hope I haven't jinxed it now. One big complaint I have about it: I don't have time to watch TH-cam videos anymore whilst waiting for the sim to load .
IMHO, I think 2024 graphics is amazing flying around the Grand Canyon, even on my Xbox series X. However, with a medium internet connection, my Xbox graphics look absolutely horrible in every other area I've tried compared to 2020. Distant mountains and many ground textures look like cartoon drawings. Even runways have jagged lines when approaching between 1000 and 100 feet AGL.
@Huddison Very true. Hopefully, they will do that soon. I will still enjoy msfs 2020, except the ATC is ridiculously bad in 2020. It's slightly better in 2024, but not a ton. As a retired air traffic controller, I get extremely frustrated at how awful MSFS has always been when it comes a HUGE part of both IFR and VFR flying! Uggh!! I wish they would just incorporate BeyondATC into the simulator. We all just spent close a billion dollars on the new version, so they should have enough money to buy that company. Lol
I think I agree on visuals but at the moment there's a lot of areas with avionics bugs etc that Asobo have got to sort. Im on a lower spec than you 3060 and ryzen 5700x3d and a 1gb connection that normally runs between 700-900
Better ohhh peershawwww but perhaps it is true . By the time I get 2024 sometime in 2025 things hopefully will be better. Thank You for another good video
Hey thanks for your video. I am still getting hazy and washed out graphics. Any idea as to where could I be going wrong. Suggestions are welcome. Thanks
Have you got any recommendations for the aileron and elevator sensitivity settings and dead zones for the turtle beach velocity one controller. Would appreciate your advice
Nah graphics and fps are still bad on Xbox no improvement on console since launch. I really don’t know how people think it looks good on console when it clearly does not! 2020 looks and runs a 100 times better than 2024.
I would love to buy FS2024 but am still worried with 100 megabit bandwidth lots of stuff is going to mess up. How much bandwidth do you have to get these results? Thanks
I originally bought 2024 then requested a refund I purchased it yesterday upgraded my connection speed and it made a world of difference it is now playable at least to me in VR and acceptable I wish people would talk about their internet speed as well because this is important
Totally agree...had 2020 setup in a way it looked realistic...cannot seem to get the right colours/filters applied in 2024...looks like a...game...not a sim
Wish I could say the same but on series x it looks like a downgrade over 2020, my internet is fine, although saying that I’m moving to a full fibre 1gb service soon, so the speed won’t be any excuse.
London still looks like dog shit for me and framerate isn't consistent. I have a beefy pc, 600mb internet and I've tried uninstalling the entire sim and reinstalling it. Other than that I'm enjoying it
2020 still looks a lot better for me.. on series X i see far too much texture pop in on this new game and buildings that looked like they have been made on blue peter
On Xbox series x 2024 its miles better than 2020 I fly it everyday would not use 2020 now things they’ve added make loads better especially the flight plan tablet
I like it but down on the ground some areas are just big thick blobs trees are square bobs above the sim looks the way it should time will tell it only can get better ❤❤❤❤❤
Thx for the Video. But i have here a Meta Quest 3 for fly on VR. I dont know why. Before the last Patch everithing is working reale smooth and fine. But Now its unplayable. Extreme Frame Drops from 90fps down to 2. Sound voices diesnt loafing etc etc
Sorry H but so they should be, otherwise why have we been duped into forking out for a brand new sim. I don’t care what anyone says graphics are the main barometer as to how good the sim is.
In VR in fs2024 the cockpit glass suffers from too much reflection/flare/bloom, it's awful and ruins the experience. The clarity in fs2024 is rubbish in VR, also there is waaayyy to many trees. Hopefully it gets better
Im running the sim on Xbox X with a 53mbs connection. It's running smoothly for me. Even in photogrammetry areas. I deleted my FS2020 the other day,as I'm confident that 24 will continue to improve.
I agree! 2024 has improved tremendously since the disastrous launch. I have been flying primarily the career mode the last week and there seems to have been a significant improvement the last couple of days. Have just been flying a mission in my local area around Aarhus Airport and a discovery flight in Giza on my Xbox series X and I was simply amazed how good the graphics was. All buildings, textures, rain (including rainbows!) clouds came perfectly together. I have never seen anything quite like this before. Still a few bugs here and there, but this sim is going to become something really special!
Too many trees, even where trees should not be. Local to me is Blackpool and that looks awful in 2024. I am sure given time it will become the one to have, especially when 3rd party is allowed. but at the moment 2020 is the go-to for vfr
Well I'm getting a refund on this unfinished sim back to 2020 no more box like airports but real ones no more VR problems better clouds can't see what all the fuss is about it's just not worth it at the moment.
ehh i disagree.sadly msfs2020 still have wayyyy better performance and graphic than msfs24 just saying. just wish people can stop being yes men and just be blunt about this game how crap it is..
You will find no controversy with me, I happen to agree with you. I think with a little time this will be an amazing sim.
I just observed that trees density as well as size needs some tweaking for my liking. What do you think?
If you look you can see trees taller than the Manhattan buildings, and city streets full of nonexistent trees.
I agree that in some areas the trees are oversized.
That is looking good. I love 2020 because it was the first sim I was able to play. Never had the ability to own a decent pc.

I’m very hopeful this will improve with updates and patches and become the best simulator ever! (4090, 64g, VR)
We just need to give this sim time and it will be amazing in time .
Absolutely.
The Sim is amazing to me now. They have a lot of bugs and decreased the loading times significantly. The in game aircraft work better than 2020. It’s an entirely new product and now it’s a platform for many other creative ideas. Wait for the developers to unlock the gems that are built in.
Just imagine.
Some of the paying passengers in the CPL career missions are a bit creepy. They say the most cringe worthy things. Maybe the next lot I'll treat to a few unexpected barrel rolls and loops and see what the reaction is. Haha !
😁
I must admit that the graphics do look good but I just wish they'd fix the broken career mode which is the main reason I purchased it. I also found that flying the Optica (a much slower plane) or even a Powrachute (Sky Rascal) the graphics seem to be generating much better through streaming and I also set a 128Gb rolling cache on an SSD Samsung 980 Pro. It also seems that there was a lot of cut & paste between 2020 to 2024 as many of the elevation data mistakes, solid bridges and other problems that were never fixed in 2020 are identical and in the same spots in 2024.
I've also encountered many bugs and issues with the career mode and often find that mode in particular, unplayable at times.
Walking around in the city's are still looking very blurry for me
Yes martinpatterson9015 is RIGHT !
It'll be improved upon, no doubt.
I agree with you when flying GA... But when arriving in an airliner in a large City that you have not recently visited, the graphics are slow lo load and it is rather disappointing, even though I have a high end PC and fast internet connection. This said, I love MSFS 2024 and I believe it will only get better and better.
It definitely needs more updates.
I think 2020 looks better on console than 2024 due to the add-ons advantages 2020 has. I am feeling hopeful still for 2024.
Thank you for your videos they great 😊
Think it will come back once the marketplace is back up and running
You act like this is a unique situation.
@ No, just stating the fact…read the second half…
I totally agree with you. I am loving 2024.
The world is definitely improved, however the airports in career mode so far leave a lot to be desired
when are they going to fix the bridges ? add more detail in buildings ? alot of the buildings are generic .
Truth be told I feel like Asobo have thrown VR and mid range pc users under a bus
Thanks for your feedback Tony. I am yet to try FS2024 in VR.
Vr has major problems with the ui, mouse pointer, and ctd.
@ You’re not wrong. I love the more realistic clouds and sky colors in 2024 for sure though.
@21:10 it is a buidling site this is why it looks bizarre - but I think it looks normal to me.
well im still sticking too 2020 for now maybe some time after the new year i may change too 2024 at the moment there is nothing that wants me to change over
Same here
Same here 👍
Alright! alright! alright!....I finally got my copy(?) of the sim.
Love that last comment! 😆
What do you consider medium internet?
@caskraker usually between 200 and 300 Mbps
The high bandwidth requirements do need to be addressed.
Im on a lower spec than you 3060 and ryzen 5700x3d and a 1gb connection that normally runs between 700-900
Agreed.
Better ohhh peershawwww but perhaps it is true . By the time I get 2024 sometime in 2025 things hopefully will be better. Thank You for another good video
Thanks Mike.
Hey thanks for your video. I am still getting hazy and washed out graphics. Any idea as to where could I be going wrong. Suggestions are welcome. Thanks
What platform are you on?
@@Huddison Windows 10 i7 8700 32 gb rtx 3070 and medium to high settings 150 Mbps internet
I love the radio towers 😊
I have not had the same experience on my Xbox. Graphics still patchy and incorrect in places. Shipping is horrible
Let's see what Patch no.3 brings.
They need to fix the trees badly
Thanks for the video. Enjoyed hearing your thoughts regarding the progressive state of FS24. :)
Glad you enjoyed it ;)
Have you got any recommendations for the aileron and elevator sensitivity settings and dead zones for the turtle beach velocity one controller. Would appreciate your advice
I have made a couple of recent controller setup videos for the velocity one.
Hello so you open the photogrammetry? or just online steam ,object level is ultra?
It should be on/set by default.
Dublin Washington DC and Paris are still Poor Graphically on Xbox
I wish they would just get their finger out and do Manchester in photogrammetry. I’ve been waiting since the launch of the previous one.
Orbx GB Central made Manchester look a little better, but yes, I would also be pleased to see that added.
Nah graphics and fps are still bad on Xbox no improvement on console since launch. I really don’t know how people think it looks good on console when it clearly does not! 2020 looks and runs a 100 times better than 2024.
I don’t understand how this could be controversial. Obviously at some point 2024 was going to look better
I believe we're getting a big update this week?
🤞
I would love to buy FS2024 but am still worried with 100 megabit bandwidth lots of stuff is going to mess up. How much bandwidth do you have to get these results? Thanks
I have on average between 300-600 mbs
@@HuddisonThanks That lets me out then.. It would cost me too much to upgrade my bandwidth to that amount just to play FS2024.
I originally bought 2024 then requested a refund I purchased it yesterday upgraded my connection speed and it made a world of difference it is now playable at least to me in VR and acceptable I wish people would talk about their internet speed as well because this is important
Good points.
I still think it looks too cartoonish due to the lack of atmospheric effects/atmospheric perspective. (Compare with msfs2020 with rex atmos)
I think the reverse: it looks more gritty and realistic than FS2020 with my eyes.
Totally agree...had 2020 setup in a way it looked realistic...cannot seem to get the right colours/filters applied in 2024...looks like a...game...not a sim
At least someone who agrees with me 😅
So is it worth buying for the X box series X yet?
Hell yeah
I have Xbox x and high end pc and Xbox runs this just great
Wish I could say the same but on series x it looks like a downgrade over 2020, my internet is fine, although saying that I’m moving to a full fibre 1gb service soon, so the speed won’t be any excuse.
But your sky and clouds are completely blown out. It's a great slab of white with no shading. How is that better?
It's amazing... I just wish it was a smooth 60 fps all the time... I can't handle lower frame rates... too choppy and kills the immersion...
there are no leaves on the trees flying over Ireland
Because it's winter
London still looks like dog shit for me and framerate isn't consistent.
I have a beefy pc, 600mb internet and I've tried uninstalling the entire sim and reinstalling it. Other than that I'm enjoying it
Have you uninstalled and reinstalled as others have recommended?
I am still on my day one install and have encountered very few issues.
Still kinda bothers me that the world map hasn't been updated. Atlanta is still oudated, just like in MS 2020.
Too many trees. For example, Lower Manhattan doesn't have that many trees outside of Central Park.
Only thing I have noticed is bodies of water can look too flat and glass looking, anyone else see this?
Thx for the Video. But i have here a Meta Quest 3 for fly on VR. I dont know why. Before the last Patch everithing is working reale smooth and fine. But Now its unplayable. Extreme Frame Drops from 90fps down to 2. Sound voices diesnt loafing etc etc
Oh dear.
Sorry H but so they should be, otherwise why have we been duped into forking out for a brand new sim. I don’t care what anyone says graphics are the main barometer as to how good the sim is.
My graphic on the series x are great 4k Dolby Vision on a oled tv
2024 will eventually be better but not yet.
Graphics might be better but it's no good if your not able to even use a mouse in the cockpit!!!
In VR in fs2024 the cockpit glass suffers from too much reflection/flare/bloom, it's awful and ruins the experience. The clarity in fs2024 is rubbish in VR, also there is waaayyy to many trees. Hopefully it gets better
I sure hope so too.
Agreed.
Why are all these TH-camrs from some other place other than the US? Where are the Americans?
Too many trees, even where trees should not be. Local to me is Blackpool and that looks awful in 2024. I am sure given time it will become the one to have, especially when 3rd party is allowed. but at the moment 2020 is the go-to for vfr
Well I'm getting a refund on this unfinished sim back to 2020 no more box like airports but real ones no more VR problems better clouds can't see what all the fuss is about it's just not worth it at the moment.
lol😂
They need to do so much more updating but the sim really does look good
ehh i disagree.sadly msfs2020 still have wayyyy better performance and graphic than msfs24 just saying. just wish people can stop being yes men and just be blunt about this game how crap it is..
I've no call or need to be a 'yes man'; I'm just reporting and saying how I find it.
