I was eating and when the scene where the doctor is trying to explain he would never physically hurt his patients happened, I jumped and jabbed the spoon into my gums lmaoooo

Just a teeny tiny tip:
In the tutorial it mentions that Jimmy will not follow you or attack you on:
- The Ground Floor (due to an incident that Mark is yet to come across)
- The Stairwell (probably because of the Amy incident), although while you're in the stairwell and you look at the stairwell door of the floor Jimmy is on, he can pop his head and be like "yoohoo I'm here"
- The Basement (due to something that Mark is yet to come across + Dr Bose's incident)
So really you can just go bonkers when you get to those areas and taunt him all you want.
Also, when Jimmy does catch you and give you a good ol' whackin', it's a random chance whether you'll lose keys, compass or scrying mirror, but its a 100% chance your spirit box will be taken and you'll have to go about retrieving it again. You'll never lose any evidence (because I guess you never pick them up in the first place? They're like mental notes?)
Sorry for all the edits but a lot of people are asking if Jimmy can get you while you enter or exit the elevator, the answer is no. From the moment you call the elevator to when you exit the elevator, Jimmy can not catch you, although you do get the animation sometimes of him approaching the elevator or poking his head out from the side.
Yeah the evidence is a mental note because you can't present to something you can't physically see per se

I love how despite the fact that all the ghosts were killed and/or had their lives ruined by Jimmy, they just sound mildly frustrated or annoyed whenever they talk about the things he did.

Hey Mark! Here are some tips to help avoid/hide from Jimmy.

He can sometimes camp the exits, so you need to call him to the room you're in and wait until he starts to unlock the door, then hide.
Bathroom: in dark rooms, he'll always figure out you're there. It's a 100% death rate sadly. In normal rooms, I'm pretty sure it's 50/50. I think you have to hide as SOON as he appears through the spy glass.
Closet: Personally I think this is the best hiding spot, I'm pretty sure it has a much lower chance of being caught than the bathroom. Although, with the closet, he can sometimes hide in the bathroom. You need to listen for an audio cue outside before exiting the closet, because if he's not in the bathroom he can be right outside the door.
Locking Jimmy in a room: make sure you have the key to that room. That's important. Call Jimmy/get chased by Jimmy and wait until the very last second of him unlocking the door, then hide in the closet. Wait until you hear a door close and run outside of the room, then lock the door from the outside. He'll be stuck for roughly a minute.
Safe floors: Ground floor, Lower ground floor, and the stairs are all safe spots Jimmy can't go to.
Voice cues are better to gauge where he's at.

You can lock Jimmy in a room with the deadlock keys. You hide in the wardrobe but let jimmy see you enter it. Then he will hide in the bathroom, you have to quickly leave the room and turn around and lock it. He won’t be locked in forever though, he will start picking the lock, but that gives a good amount of safe time. Just a suggestion.

He won't read it lol, someone gave him great non spoiler advice on his last video and this video he was doing everything opposite. I had a heart attack everytime he used the mirror knowing jimmy would pop up.
I hope he will see this comment and actually use this strategy. I really want to witness it!

Yeah true, but part of me wondered if they lost some of their memories after death. For example, when Mark asked Amy about the blood soaked rag, she said “It could have been mine,” like she didn’t remember but she made a connection that it could have been hers because her hand was badly burnt, but it wasn’t until later on that we realise that it was Dr Bose’s.
A couple other things set me off about the dialogue as well, like when you piece things together and ask them a question, then they have this deep realisation as if they had forgotten all about it.
19:12 The reason it was still red was because Jimmy quietly opened the door and snuck into the bathroom, once you wait a while in the closet, he despawns, and goes on a different floor or if your fast enough just book it outta the door
I know I’m late, but two for two, Jimmy never killed the victims HIMSELF. That’s honestly even creepier; a killer that makes the victim do the work for them.

Honestly what I think the most unnerving thing about this game is that it’s like sudo-live action. Like moving through the halls and stuff looks digital, but everything else is like a live action movie. Most horror games go for like weird as fucked monsters and other horrors, hell even fucked up people as the spook. However this game is like the old point and click adventure games that use real people for their cinematic scenes. Hell the parts where you’re hiding and you see jimmy go by, look in your direction and then keep moving is like super nerve wracking cause it puts you in this state of “oh my god this is really fucking real and this maniac is trying to kill me!” That feeling is something a lot of horror games kinda lack in one way shape or form.
Not to be grammar/spelling police but thought it might be useful for u to know the term you’re looking for is “pseudo-“ . Just wanted to mention it bc ive had plenty of times ive wished someone had pointed things like that out to me

If you listen to EVERYTHING that Rose says, she calls Harvey her husband! After Hugo died, she inherited his hotel. She married Harvey, who later died. Then, the hotel was solely run by her until Jimmy came home.

Don't worry. He can't ever be in the elevator. Jimmy only comes to the floor you're on off-screen. At worst you'll see him OUTSIDE the elevator just as you're taking it to another floor.

You are save as soon as you press the button to call the elevator, even if he was right behind you before, no matter how long the elevator takes.
What CAN happen though is that Jimmy ambushes you when you exit the elevator or the staircase.

I love how this game gives you hints while still making you feel like you're in control and not being railroaded. Like the flickering lights or the scrying. It's a good mechanic to help progress the story without it feeling like you're being hand held through the process.
I commend Mark for pointing out that Jimmy could have been telling the truth about the assault. Except we are explicitly told he LIED. Harvey tells us near the end of the last episode. "It came straight out of it! As soon as I found that scrapbook I knew where Jimmy had got it from. It was the same, down to every detail."
In order for that to be indisputable, the source has to be completely reliable, and as other people have already pointed out, Harvey already had a grudge against Jimmy and may have lied about whether or not it happened.
Didn't Dr. Bose know about the scrapbook? He could have copied from it to make it seem like Jimmy was lying again.
Amy: innocent girl who was manipulated and tricked by a devious boy who likely didn't know any better. Ultimately died to an accident
Dr Bose: a questionable psychiatrist responding to rose's call because her son witnessed an accidental death. Although other, more ingrained trauma was truly what was being treated. He Choose to Vaguely threaten Jimmy with violence to take diazepam for empathy problems when the original treatment plan wasn't working quickly/effectively. For those who don't know. Diazepam can be used for sedation. Which Dr Bose just brought along with him for some reason knowing it wasn't ideal? He was Arrested for Sexual assault do to Jimmy relaying the exact same details of a prior case that was released in the papers. A lie by Jimmy? Or could Dr Bose actually be a serial pedo? Could that be the actual reason for bringing around Diazepam despite it being less than ideal? Ultimately he unalived himself while on bail instead of going to trial for what happened at the hotel...like I said... A Questionable psychiatrist.
Harvey: a man who had spite for Jimmy seemingly out of nowhere. Claiming his accusations are false because "he found a scrapbook in Jimmy's room". Rushing up to his room in quite an aggressive manner instead of talking to Jimmy with reason first. is this actually a straight up and blatant lie? Or did Harvey discredit Jimmy before even considering Jimmy's story as plausible? Who's to say. Regardless, Harvey did get pranked. Quite severely in fact. But to say it was an attempt in murder? Harvey and Jimmy escalated the situation back and forth. Harvey smashing his room to bits, Jimmy shooting him with a kids crossbow... Although Jimmy was part of this escalation, he is a kid who is stuck in this hotel. And Harvey is a man who had any and all opportunities to find a new job. Ultimately, Jimmy killed Harvey before Harvey got him. Clear self defense
The first 3 ghosts paints Jimmy as a neglected and confused kid who is troubled from early childhood trauma. Despite seeing a doctor, his doctor was not fit for treating Jimmy's mental state effectively. Regardless of if Dr Bose did sexually assault Jimmy or not, their was enough merit to Jimmy's "lie" for Dr Bose to feel he would not win the legal battle. and that the only way out was to unalive himself. Regardless of if this actually happened or not, Harvey went straight to Jimmy to confront him in quite an aggressive manner. Harvey could've went to Rose about the scrapbook. He could've went to the police even if Rose wouldn't listen... Or like my original suggestion, could've talked to Jimmy himself to gauge the legitimacy of his story in person. He choose to yell and scream and try to barge into Jimmy's room instead. Rose might be neglectful, and the great Hugo was likely the spark in Jimmy's troubled life. But Harvey is no innocent man. He's JUST as petty as Jimmy! This story is quite well written, especially in the first half because it leaves us to speculate who is actually at fault here. It allows us to pick apart what actually happened, and what the ghosts say happened... I mean, they didn't just conveniently forget their own stories. There's a reason they wait for Miya to ask instead of taking the lead in the conversation. reality is. no matter who's actually lying here, no matter what the intentions were behind the actions taken in the story. everyone is just a little bit responsible for why Jimmy is the way he is now... Harvey, Dr Bose, Amy, His parents... and Especially Hugo punch!!!

This game freaks me out, isn't even the jump scares that are the scariest, it's the anticipation that scares me even more

Suprisingly this game has really good jumpscares, you really dont expect them. They're so simple, yet so effective.
This game would be great if it worked through your mic too. Like let’s say you’re peeping through the peephole and he does his jump scare thing and if you screamed or squeaked he’d know you’re in there and get ya but if you were able to keep completely silent then he’d pass by. It’d make it that much more terrifying.

Jimmy was in the bathroom of the room Mark was in. but as Mark kept looking through the peephole and because there is meant to be a ghost sighting there, Jimmy couldn't get him, so it glitches out and thinks you are outside the room. Jimmy can't get you while looking at a ghost sighting.

My guess of what happened at 20:00 is that looking through the peep hole while jimmy was after mark but that also being the peep hole that was going to cause the next ghost cutscene caused the game to become “confused” between the to cutscenes and teleported mark outside of the room to where Harvey would have been instead of playing Harvey’s actual cutscene.
After all the blunt force trauma.

when i first saw this playthrough on release, i got so confused with the layout of this hotel that i straight up made a map so i could understand where each hallway led. i have no idea where that map went, its been 10 months, but i somehow still remember the layout of this hotel and know exactly where to go as long as i have a destination
The acting is so damn good it literally is like a movie which gives it an even more terrifying feel as a game form.

I think what was happening was that mark always hid in the bathroom and jimmy knows that, so he always checks that.
So mark needs to go to the closet because jimmy thinks that hes in the bath as always.
And yes, he has first has to notice you so he goes into the room in the first place.
