  • Where your shaft ends up can make your life a lot easier, or a whole lot more difficult. A well-placed shot makes all the difference in spearfishing and can often be a requirement in sharky waters.
In our second episode we will discuss why shot placement is critical to landing kingfish. A bad shot can haunt you for a long time.
This video aims to cover critical target areas on fish, ones to avoid and features a recent personal anecdote involving this particular yellowtail.
Based out in the Hauraki golf a weather window allowed for the mission. Afternoon winds were scheduled to pick up and confront us on our journey home. The opportunity is limited, a bad time to make mistakes.
If we, as the spearfishing community did more to improve our shot placement. We would make a significant positive difference in the marine environment and have less run ins with the now expectant sharks.
The mindset we have towards sharks here in New Zealand's is starting to turn quite negative, in my own observations. Dead sharks on NZ Spear media attract more praise than outrage. It shouldn't be the case, we can co-exist in harmony, but it would require us to clean up our act a bit.

Thanks for watching, together we can get better. I hope that through sharing my own personal experiences I can at least save a couple fish from bad shots!
If you enjoyed, great. If you learnt something, even better! Much of my own spearfishing knowledge was acquired through watching TH-cam when I first started. This is a cycle! The landscape is much different now and there are numerous creators making awesome videos. I want my channel to stand out as a fountain of knowledge to help people.
That is the whole point of it really! if you want to keep up to date with my mission, consider subscribing or following me on the gram.
When I die these videos will hopefully live on. I put my heart into these videos, maybe they will be how I am remembered. Kinda morbid, but I like it. This platform gives me an opportunity to make a difference greater than I ever could with two hands.
