Stephen Colbert is the consummate professional. He picks the right topic, and the right way, to end the interview on and helps the actor bond with his audience.
why Corey Hawkins hasn't broke out huge yet blows my mind!!!! but somehow i like how he is now, we all know where we have seen him before, we know his name, but him not being a mega star he just continues to do quality work and amazing characters and his acting is top tier where his acting ability is the star not him per se; that him not being a mega star doesn't overshadow his roles and believability.
Oh wish I could see this version of 'Macbeth' the cast is just amazing👏🏻. And I love seeing Harry Melling (probably still known to most as 'Dudley Dursley') playing 'Malcolm'. He's been in so many good things in the last 12 years👌🏻.
In high school when I read Macbeth for the first time I thought the most horrible line in all creation was "He has no children" Just the powerlessness of that line, that his family has been slaughtered and he can do nothing about it, that he can never truly have vengeance against Macbeth.
You know, it's been a while since I made it a point to see a movie in the theaters, even _before_ COVID came along, but I may just look this one up. Shakespeare is consistently so much more _alive_ on the silver screen.
@@shortsatire5669 Oh, yes. That, too. Shakespeare was, after all, a _playwright,_ not a _novelist,_ so a _performance_ based on a script he wrote is _always_ going to be appreciated more by the general public than the script _itself._
It makes me giggle that both Corey & Denzel dismissed "a curse, bad luck, etc" as silly... Then the reason they give why "they're covered"... Is "God"... It's ALL so funny... "I believe this tradition was made up by humans, because I believe in another tradition that was made up by humans..."

@The Late Show Denzel and Tim are proper good blokes, please pass this opinion of mine on to them for they may have forgotten the many kind deeds they have rendered for this meagre world and its tortured servants. Corey strikes a good balance in the dark scenario of being in the orbit of Hollywood's brightest black star (Brown Giant) Denzel and a Galactus in Tim.
Couldn't help but cringe or roll my eyes back when Stephen asks "was this your 1st time riding a horse?" Corey responded gracefully but I would've been like really *nicker* 😕 😐 😅
It may have initially been only one question, and he was engaged enough where Stephen let him go on with it. Also, these ppl are constantly having to talk about/sell themselves and I'm sure it gets old... it's probably a nice feeling to talk about the guys that inspired you along the way.
Some film makers use a limited colour palette in order to draw the audience's eyes to the actors' movements. Given the less busy background, too, in that example of MacDuff's anguish scene, I'd say that that was Joel Coen's intent here. He wants you to focus on the characters, on what they are expressing and saying, rather than on some spectacular scenery which a location scout has discovered. This accords with simple theatre presentations too, where traditionally the scenery consists only of the backdrop and maybe some flats. We're going back to basics here and giving the actors the stage.
