Thank you Nick. We understand the pressures of content creation, but videos like this show us how much you enjoy the hobby of knives. We are all nerds for gear and the minutia involved. This video is an enjoyable deep dive into a piece that not many people will ever get their hands, but we can all appreciate in many ways. So many hours someone spent perfecting polishing, very enjoyable. Thank you
There is no good knife that is not a.good beater knife . Hahaha not being a.smart ass I just dont understand . No one has ever said that's a good wrench but.not.for.using hahaha
@David P. That's basically what separates knives above $250 or so is all these quality details, functionality wise they really are effectively the same past that point. You're paying for the extreme attention to detail on every small bit of craftsmanship.
One of the best things between knives, watches, and espresso gear is the care and attention to detail and that attention to detail can come across in many ways finishing, quality, durability, degrees of overbuiltness, and small details that's not noticed on a quick glance but can only be noted with more time. My HG-1 coffee grinder is very much like this love it for its day to day usage but doing the cleaning and service gives the opportunity to see the small details and gives me joy. thanks for the sidebar on noting the small things Nick.
Thank you Nick, this is an excellent video showing off how much Skiff Made Blades cares as well as what we knife folk into higher end knives are looking for with excruciating detail. This makes me appreciate my Drifter even more, some of these details even I had missed!
What a beautiful knife! It is great to see a full custom on your channel. The knife is a real treat. I see so many video’s on production knives. It’s like the guys are pretending the custom knives don’t exist. It’s a real treat to see a beautiful custom knife. The craftsmanship on your knife is beautiful. Thank you for sharing the knife.
It’s definitely one of my favorites you’ve ever reviewed, but alas, I’d never own one. I don’t own safe queens and I can’t possibly see using something that nice as a daily carry.
I've never seen one of these before...absolutely amazing work! I just can't bring myself to pay that much for a carry knife. The passion absolutely shows in this knife though.
The circle at the bottom of the lockbar also serves a mechanical purpose, drilling a hole at the end of a cut/break in a material actually strengthens it. Of course it could just be because they needed to start the lock cut but it still strengthens it.
It’s a long ways from the scout knife my dad gave me In the 60’s. I’m waiting for an electronic knife that separates material at a molecular level. But that assumes a knife’s purpose is to cut things rather than an example of exceptionally well executed sculpture. Both have value but when the two combine it’s a source of immense satisfaction.
Hey Nick FYI, that little hole at 12:00 is not so that they can start the cut. It is an engineering detail. In the millwrights we do that because if the cut just ends then it will be very prone to cracking from the end of the cut, further down the metal. (Sorry about my punctuation. I'm a millwright).
That is similar to Holt Bladeworks Spectre handle with Haptic blade shape taken to a level that is equal or a bit more refined. The action may or may not be similar but that level of workmanship is undoubtedly supreme allowing the knife to stand alone somewhere near the top of the semi custom knife category!! It is a very beautiful piece of work!!! I definitely would like to have one to sleep with under my pillow!!!
Very succinct observations, as usual, Mr. Shabazz. Don't listen to those (below and elsewhere) who criticize your voice; many of us tune in partly because we regard it as a very likeable aspect of your character! By the way, you forgot to plug the Skiff back in...
That is absolutely a gorgeous knife and one hell of a overview of it. for that price though I'd like to see a better blade steel though. Imo it would be soo much nicer if they used something like maybe 20CV or even S35VN for the blade steel rather than the CPM154. still one hell of a nice knife though.
Wow what a knife the design the craftsmanship is phenomenal. If you ever want to send that knife North I’m available..lol. Take care and stay safe my friend.
This video needs to be on a separate playlist with the CJRB Taiga review and the Master Knife: Fractal of Terrible Knifemaking videos. The Archetype playlist? The Archeknife playlist.
Wow,this knife is an absolute beauty..I wish I could afford a piece like this..I struggle to spend $300+..most of my knives are in the $100-$250 range but once you get up to $300 you are in the range of some pretty decent guns..Hell,I would love to even add a Microtech Combat Troodon,CRK Sebenza,Olamic Whippersnapper, etc to my collection but at those prices I can buy some nice pistols or a decent budget AR..currently,my most expensive knife was a $300 Microtech Ultratech,I expect I will be sticking to the Spydercos and Benchmades for the foreseeable future..maybe one of these days I will be more comfortable spending more on knives but doubt that will happen any time soon..But then again, who knows, several years back I wouldn’t spend anything over $70 on a knife
hey i was just like you a few years ago then i got a pretty good collection of higher end production and now im going for semi-customs and full on customs
Nick this is a really sweet knife. I’m curious, has this knife taken your favorite knife position in your collection or is the Norseman still holding tight?
It kinda reminds me of an upgraded zt 0456. The small touches are really nice. When a blade is finished with the grind/polishing lines going horizontal, is that to ensure the grind and thickness is as even as possible the whole length of the blade? I can't remember who but someone reviewing a BBB re-grind said that's the reasoning behind it. Amazing looking knife!
Agreed. The milled patterns, screws and pivot (ti connector, which Holt also uses) seem very Holtish. I don't think there us any kind of design stealing or copying going on, but being a Holt lover makes me intrigued to try a Skiff to see how they measure up against one another. A lot of attention went into this blade and I think the details are what get us connoisseurs excited. I'd prefer the lockbar cutout to be on the inside of the handle, just my personal preference but wow it looks fantastic
It strikes me as remarkable how easily Nick goes from, "This CIVIVI $50 knife is...." to "This hand crafted high end knife is...." The comments and reviews are so well tailored to the targeted knife buying audience that the transition is seamless. Thumbs up!
CPM 154 might not be the steel with the best edge retention, but it is a very balanced all around stainless knife super steel that polishes beautifully without an insane amount of work. And since it’s unlikely this knife will spend its life cutting cardboard I’d bet it’s ability to be polished to such stunning levels is why Skiff chose it over a more trendy steel.
This type of finishing is reminiscent of high-horology case finishing. Very nice. (ps - could just be the newness, but it sounds like a bit of lock-stick).
Lmao for a hot second I thought, "WOW Skif has upped their game since I last heard from them!!!!" No, no they didn't. This is a different company ENTIRELY, with vastly superior products.
There must be some reason that I don't understand why lockbar cutouts on frame lock knivess aren't just ALWAYS put on the inside of the scale. That is literally the only detail on this knife that doesn't make any sense to me. That is a beautiful knife.
There's a lot of joy to be sure, but I noticed two things: The choil isn't quite far enough forward (a factory edge that smiles at the back? Oh come on!) and the lockbar relief is external. Which might not sound bad, but when even GANZO, of all manufacturers, can put an internal lockbar relief on their Adimanti Skimen Neformat, then I think it is long past time for the never to be sufficiently damned "knife community" (I have forgiven you assholes for not buying enough Cold Steel Holdout 3's to keep them in production, but I'll never forget) to raise their standards just a little bit.
Thank you Nick. We understand the pressures of content creation, but videos like this show us how much you enjoy the hobby of knives. We are all nerds for gear and the minutia involved. This looks like a great hard use/ beater knife.
For sure. Practically an axe replacement. Batoning all day long with this bad boy.
There is no good knife that is not a.good beater knife . Hahaha not being a.smart ass I just dont understand . No one has ever said that's a good wrench but.not.for.using hahaha
Man sees polished metal for the first time
In all seriousness, going the extra mile sets this knife apart.
"That's a high polish"
This made me laugh way more than it should XD

pro tip : watch series at flixzone. Been using it for watching lots of of movies during the lockdown.
Insights into the mind of Batman like this are why I keep coming back. Love it!
Love the breakdown! And man what a gem of a knife. That color combo is beautiful
One of my favorite videos of yours. I love being able to go through your thought processes on how you look at and take in the details of a knife.
What a beautiful knife thank you for sharing.
Watching this while playing with my $15 Kershaw Tarheel.
Click click click click... Ahhh
I heard Nick Shabazz swear in his beautiful accent. My life is complete.
Lmao he dropped an F-bomb a while ago
@@NitrousFox I wasnt there for it.

Thank you Nick, this is an excellent video showing off how much Skiff Made Blades cares as well as what we knife folk into higher end knives are looking for with excruciating detail.
This makes me appreciate my Drifter even more, some of these details even I had missed!
The wave pattern matchup is oddly satisfying.
FYI, they make some of thee best bearings too. So good. Thx Nick, great preview of a wonderful piece.
I love this video. Your appreciation for a well-crafted piece convinced me to join the long waiting list for a Skiff.
Well... I’m glad I’ve had a couple Skiffs before this video’s gone live. I’m happy more people will know of their knives. They’re excellent 👌🏻
What a beauty... astonnishing! Some exta miles for real...
Much love from Switzerland
Beautiful knife. Your enthusiasm is infectious. I guess this is an early contender for your best of 2021 list?
What a beautiful knife! It is great to see a full custom on your channel. The knife is a real treat. I see so many video’s on production knives. It’s pocket jewelry! Wear it to a fancy dinner. You’ll probably never use it, but you can always admire it.
I wish that i was in a position in life where i can EDC this with no problem
What a beautiful knife! Skiff does such a great job. It's cool to see a Skiff custom up close.
I've never seen one of these before...absolutely amazing work! I just can't bring myself to pay that much for a carry knife. The passion absolutely shows in this knife though.

Pointed out some interesting things! Beautiful blade and great video my friend
Awesome initial impressions video. I enjoyed seeing some of your process when looking at a knife.
beautiful looking knife really like the pop of blue and the ergonomics of it 💯🔥

The Bestech Laser Knife? Can't wait!
Captain America would not appreciate the language, Nick.
This was my pick for 2019! What a wonderful piece and wonderful knifenakers to deal with! You nailed it on the head ... the details are incredible!!
The knife itself is not my personal taste but I can surely appreciate the craftsmanship that went into making it.
A knife that knocks Nick's socks off. Impressive
@nick shabazz, "Thai Connector" is a name of the company which you think has made the hardware?
I really enjoyed this more unplugged style video keep it up!
the gag was totally worth the zoom out
Absolutely beautiful knife
This or the Holt Haptic? This one reminds me of the Haptic, but with a frame lock and bigger.
Great review! I’d like to order this same spec. Can you list the specific ordering details?
Just let them know you want the knife they did for Nick Shabazz. They've got it on file :D

Got an Accomplice and the Drifter is on my short list as well. Amazing craftsmanship. Thanks Nick for ensuring these will now be even harder to get 🤣
I love seeing Nick give a damn 👍👍
Wait, the drifters come with steel lockbar inserts now?? I thought it was Ti on Ti?
Man that thing is a work of art.
LOL! That bird though! Great job!
Incredible detail 👌

As far as "random jackasses" go, you are still hanging tuff in my top ten.Thank you for all the great content bro 🤙.
Beautiful knife!
The long pocket clip prevents the pocket from bunching in the lock bar cutout which is nice. However an internal lock bar cutout is nicer.

I understand you perfectly
hey i was just like you a few years ago then i got a pretty good collection of higher end production and now im going for semi-customs and full on customs
Would you say it's along the lines of holt with the fit and finish
I think better
Is this the opposite of the Fractal of Suck knife?
Nick this is a really sweet knife. I’m curious, has this knife taken your favorite knife position in your collection or is the Norseman still holding tight?
Nick Shabazz showed his face! The details! The details!
4:56 nick has a Z-Hunter moment

Very nice. The blade is different but the handle looks similar to the Tactical Elements V2 Ultra Kukri folder knife.
Elon Musk: " Nice knife. I Wish I Could Afford it..."
Really pretty knife 😀👍
Reminds me of a watch that different facets has different finishes
This video reaffirms my thought that you should check out a Brown Cortex.

Wow... stunning
Hi good day. Please a review of the crkt pillar 3. Excellent videos. Greetings from Uruguay.
Is the full review coming soon? Don't tell me you didn't carry this beauty, I wouldn't believe you! :p
This type of finishing is reminiscent of high-horology case finishing. Very nice. (ps - could just be the newness, but it sounds like a bit of lock-stick).
This knife is proof that overall built quality and attention to detail is more important than simply slapping a fancy steel on to a knife.
The people over at skiff knives have been partying non stop since this video was released,
For the four-digit price these sell at, it's almost - ALMOST - worth the money. Really fantastic hand-finishing and many hours of CNC work beforehand.
This is such a great knife. I hope it doesn’t drift away from my collection 😂.
I think you handled my Skiff Culprit a while back, gotta love the Skiffs~
I am trying to decide between this and the cold steel sr1 lite. Anyone got advise to help me choose
Yeah the Drifter also comes in zirconium instead of the base anodized blue titanium 👍
Wow. Much better than the CRKT drifter....
Do lunker's and demo ranch still own skiff ?
I was thinking the same.
Completely different company, these guys were never owned by anyone else
i think it was skif knives with only one f and they sold it as far as i know
Wow, the want is high for that. Thanks NIck
Lmao for a hot second I thought, "WOW Skif has upped their game since I last heard from them!!!!"
No, no they didn't. This is a different company ENTIRELY, with vastly superior products.
For the $ needs internal milling and lockbar relief.
Do you know what a lock bar relief is? Cuz this has that.
And I may be wrong, but I think the Skiffs might get their hardware from TRM!
There must be some reason that I don't understand why lockbar cutouts on frame lock knivess aren't just ALWAYS put on the inside of the scale. That is literally the only detail on this knife that doesn't make any sense to me. That is a beautiful knife.
Looks just like the Wraith Sheepsfoot.
My precious!
Let's hope the music doesn't stop or else these 1200$ knife artisans will be going the way of the dinosaurs.
Skiff Drifter?...Skiff Culprit?....yarr matey.🧀
Where can I buy one ? Lol
More importantly than any individual quote, Skiff can now claim "got Nick Shabbazz to post a dedicated genre of video"
Beauty
what a beaut!
Can we see a review of the Shirogorov Quantum? =)
Only 1,300$ wow 🤩
Has any one heard of skiff knives owed by Matt from demo ranch?
Well how do you get on the “list”. For one.
Message them and wait a while.
Sorry, but why?.... why?... WHY?.... didn’t they make the lock bar cutout on the inside of the scale.....why?

That hole wasn’t to start a cut. Its a stress relief cut. Its to present fatigue stress. It was intentional im sure.
