The track of Hurricane Beryl (2024)

Hurricane Beryl was (for now) the strongest storm of the season. That hurricane made history as the earliest major hurricane ever recorded, second-most intense in the month of July since Hurricane Emily (2005), approached Jamaica as a category 4, the strongest was Hurricane Gilbert (1988); at the time, Gilbert made landfall in Jamaica, while Beryl not. A week ago,, Beryl made landfall in Mexico as a category 2, some days later, it reached hurricane status again and made landfall near Houston as a category 1 on the SSHWS Scale. As of July 13, 2024, Hurricane Beryl made $6bln in damages and 38 fatalities.
