The current Ebola outbreak in West Africa began in Guinea in December 2013. From there, it quickly spread to Liberia and Sierra Leone. Cases also appeared in Senegal and Nigeria, and a separate outbreak appeared in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Today, Liberia lies is at the center of the epidemic, with more than 3,000 cases of infection - about half of which have been fatal.
Just as President Obama announced that he would be sending American troops to help combat the epidemic, VICE News traveled to Monrovia, Liberia's capital, to spend time with those on the front lines of the outbreak.
In Part 2, through the lens of an Ebola awareness team leader named Archie, we learn one of the main issues that is perpetuating the outbreak - confusion about the virus itself.

These people are suffering and dying and everyone in the comments are acting like 12 year olds and making racist jokes. Even if you don't care about them the least you could do is show some respect.

Yeah, I was also really impressed by how patriotic they were, especially when you consider they are probably not paid very well at all.
Goes to show that on every corner of this Earth there are good people willing to do what's right to help others, even if it doesn't seem like it at times.

You know I am so grateful that I live in the U.S, but I feel guilty that if I get sick I go to my doctor or the ER and get the best medical care that there is, and these poor people are waiting in mud and filth to get some help that really isn't very good. I hope that we can find a way to help them but I feel that this is only the beginning of a pandemic that will sweep all aroung the globe like the flu did in 1918 killing 10's of millions. God help us all.

Consider a scenario with a mutation that causes an early leakage of blood into the upper airways of the victim. The victim sneezes, by which means droplets of blood saturated with virus particles are ejected up into the air. Usually viruses doesn't mutate to change their way of transmission but the nature of this disease maybe should be of greater concern with respect to such a possibility.

This will probably be the turning point for those poor African countries where the sanitary conditions and healthcare will get modernized… They will suffer from ebola. But in the long terms, the system put in place to deal with ebola will help patients with malaria, cholera, rabies and other diseases.
Without an aggressive incentive, those poor and uneducated countries stay undeveloped.

I suppose that knowing that the climate is also horrendously hot with smothering humidity, damp moldy places, with Mosquitos the size of small children, really hits home the misery these people live in.
