To say he’s had it easy is an understatement.
He’s had the benefit of teams having a high reluctance to apply strong double teams on him due to the presence of otherworldy talent around him which, in effect, has helped make him one of the greatest scorers of all time.
Don’t take that the wrong way though - that’s just smart basketball and Durant, again, is trying to find ways to make it easy for him.
That said, despite all these loaded super teams that Durant finds himself in, he’s only won 2 chips throughout his career (and that was with a team that prior to his joining, was 73-9) which begs the question:
Does he qualify “REALLY” as an all time top 10 player?
Virtually everyone’s top 10 list has players both past and present fulfilling one intersting narrative:
That on their teams, they were the Alpha that carried said team to a chip despite a mountain of adversity.
And often times, if not, most times, having the lesser talent on their team.
Kevin Durant does not have the second point on his side and even the first point itself is debatable.
Now, again, on a loaded Suns team, in Round 1 of the NBA playoffs, he has an opportunity to prove the doubters wrong about the narrative that surrounds his legacy.
“He is the Alpha on a loaded team and he can take them to the Finals”
The only problem?
Is that the Suns are going up against a destined Minnesota Timberwolves led by a player who so happens to idolize this man - and is taking those career narratives surrounding Durant and might just be on the verge of surpassing them (at the moment)

Unless? Kevin Durant can somehow find it within himself to overcome the adversity and re-write the script.

Perk been giving us credit and watched us grow since 2019, when he became an analyst. He held us accountable for our bad seasons, we definitely got a shot this year but playing Denver makes me nervous
Spo didn’t start off so great with the Heat and got out coached in the Finals against Dallas before all of this. It took some gigantic failures to get to this point but it’s built a coach who is war ready.

The Suns were the strongest when it was only Devin Booker & #DeAndreAyton as the super duo.
Things went downhill after they traded for CP3 and then KD.
PHX "3" playing 42 min a game. Wolves defense has been relentless and Suns have to work hard for every shot they get. Even when the Wolves bench (Alexander-Walker; Naz; Anderson) comes in, there is no let down. Just wave after wave of pressure that are turning the Suns over (31 points off TOs in gm 2) and making them work on every possession. By the 3rd quarter, the Suns are wiped out. Ant is making the right plays; role players are hitting shots; Wolves don't care who gets the credit and are happy when McDaniels/Alexander-Wlaker/Reid do well. There are no egos...just making the easy, right plays.

It ain't over yet. Game 3 will most likely be the deciding factor. If they loose game three then it's going to be real hard to come back. It's possible for them to come back after 3 games down. However they need to show more drive. The fist game the Suns weren't rebounding as a team. The second game was lost because of turnovers and foul trouble. I thought they did well in the second game. At least a lot better than the first one. I don't think the Wolves played as well as the first game. I did like the Wolves defense in this game. The Wolves have been showing more drive. I will say other then the lazy passes the Suns did well. A lot of the turnovers was because of good pressured defense.
respectfully though, half of the clips that these shows showing of kd and book are blatant fouls and some of them were "off phx" or a phx turnover and it was clearly off a wolves player, i'm not saying its all on the refs by any means book kd and beal NEED to be better, BUT when you look at 30 FT attempts from the wolves, 20 turnovers with half of them fouls or off the wolves player and its the wrong call needs to be held into conversation
