    I was part of a BSAC club 10 years ago and loved it, I had to quit and lost my books . Completed PADI open water and advanced open water on holiday. Cost a fortune and although I had a great time on the holiday managed 20 dives in 10 days, down to 30 meters. I wished I hadn’t been sucked in. I want to dive in the U.K. but don’t know how to use a dry suit , I dived with some people who paid for and passed the advance course who were dangerous, damaged the reef and I would never want to buddy . There was no rescue skills at all which was the only reason I took the advanced as I was surprised there was none in the basic open water . Cost as much as it would have to buy my own diving gear and so I’ll be joining a branch as soon as they open back up

      Good man Jay! A half decent branch will have you drysuit trained in no time and the rescue skills will be taught to you as well. Check out your local clubs using the BSAC club finder tool. Make sure you visit all your local clubs as well. I know it's easy to pick the closest, but that club a bit further away may be way more active, have a boat etc, so it's worth having a good look around. Stay safe pal and I hope you get sorted soon. Andy

      @@UKDiver Thanks mate. I contacted 4 , the closest has the cheapest subs but.... has no boat , no loan gear and doesn’t do much pool work. One a little further is more expensive but appears more active , has a rib , compressor, dive gear I can use till I get my own and will likely dive more.
      Appreciate the advice and the videos . Stay safe

      @@jayking1073 great stuff. It’s worth paying a bit more in subs for a more active club, after all, it’s diving you want to be doing! Also nice to have the compressor and boat too as that will save you money and open up a whole range of new skills you can learn if you like. Keep in touch and I hope to see you out on a dive soon 👍

    What about Solodiving??

    • @UKDiver
      @UKDiver  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Andre. I'm not sure I understand the question, but if you're asking if BSAC supports or promotes solo diving, the answer is a resounding "NO". We do teach you to be more self sufficient and self reliant, but never to dive solo. Besides, what would you need a dive club for if you're going to dive solo? Hope this help. If I've answered the wrong question, let me know! Dive Safe - Andy

    Dose bsac cover cave diving, mainly for old flooded mines?

    • @UKDiver
      @UKDiver  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey Daniel. BSAC cover as in the insurance, covers all diving. But remember it’s 3rd party cover. ie it covers your buddy in the event you do something to harm them. It doesn’t cover you. For that you’d need something like the DAN insurance. I hope this answers your question. Drop me another line if I’ve missed the mark. Andy

      @@UKDiver I was thinking more some extensive training so I don’t die. I’m not to bothered about insurance for me I’m more bothered about doing to safely and getting home

      @@hemperor7325 ahhh… sorry, when you said covered I thought you meant insurance wise! No, as far as I know BSAC doesn’t have any kind of cave diving course. I think if you’re going to be doing stuff like that, GUE would probably be your best bet as they were born out of the cave diving scene in and around Florida 👍

    • @hemperor7325
      @hemperor7325 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Even GUE doesn’t seem to have any uk course that dose what I want to do, would the best way be do bsac and convince someone in the club to just come do some stupid shit it’s way cheaper than going to USA for a training cause.

      @@UKDiver they don’t have any uk cave instructors, I’ve been looking for over a month and no one in the uk are interested in overhead environments, unless it’s a ship wreck and I’m not interested at all in that type of diving, I wanna go dive some places no one really knows exists. And no ones ever been before like the car graveyard and old mines not even to mention all the flooded templer tunnels and the ones underneath castles

    Did a try dive a couple of years ago, went on to the Open Water course passed that. Very pleased with that but after a couple of weeks I suddenly realised I actually hated diving and anything to do with it.

      What made you dislike doing it after the few weeks?

      @@ashbordoy The conditions, the cost of getting to dive sites, the prep time. I could go on. The strange thing is my wife is obsessed with diving. Can't understand why I didn't like it. So she goes diving with various others why I stay at home.

    Im away for 2 years outside UK to Nepal. If I keep my membership will my training be valid ??

      Or will I have to do Ocean Diver course all over again ???

    • @UKDiver
      @UKDiver  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Your training will always be valid, nothing can take a qualification away from you. You won’t have to do any course again, though if you’re not going to be diving for the two years you’re away, when you come back and join a club again, just get them to do a refresher for you (not the paid version as that’s a waste of money). Enjoy Nepal pal 👍😎
