I always think the rest of the world missed out so much on Australian and New Zealand music of the 80s. It was such an amazing time.
I agree as a NZer the Aussie and NZ music artists during the 80's was incredible. But for me John Farnham was top such a high range of notes he could & still can is awesome.

Most still do really. Only here in NZ & Aussie do we regularly still hear the great music our artists made. What true Aussie or Kiwi doesn't know music from John, Crowded House, Dragon, Men at Work etc.

Please do check out John Farnham's rendition of The Beatles' song, "Help", live on stage. The Beatles said that John's version surpassed their one and it was the best that they had heard.
Oh God his version of the Beetles song HELP is 100% better than the Beetles version. I can’t stand there version. John turned it into total emotion.

John Lennon contacted John Farnham to tell him how much he loved the Farnham version of Help. Lennon said that The Beatles had wanted to do it the way Farnham did, but the record company wouldn't let them, because it didn't fit the image that they were crafting for The Beatles at the time.

@@michelecollin6150 The more I hear this story the more I think it’s just an urban legend. Farnham himself has said that he knows that Lennon heard the song, but that he doesn’t know what Lennon thought of it.
You mention the other guys on stage. The amount of talent he draws for his band is off the charts.
Jack Jones on electric guitar there is a monster guitarist and vocalist in his own right, David Hirschfelder on keys is a world renown composer, Wayne Nelson followed John from the Little River Band, Phil Buckle on acoustic would later invite Jack Jones to his band, the Southern Sons. Vanetta Fields is an American born Australian who has performed with Tina Turner, Pink Floyd and the Rolling Stones.
There's a reason his concerts are immaculate
And Tommy Emmanuel was in the Farnham band in the early ‘80s
Plus, he retains the bandmembers over the years. They go off and do other things, but whenever Farnsy has a 'farewell tour' the bandmembers are the same

Then later was Australian of the year
Most of us can trace our family tree back to England

@@neildods9197 Ask John. He'll tell you he's an Aussie. It's all about the environment that you were raised in and the impact and conditioning that has had upon you. My older siblings were born in the UK and came to Oz at 7 and 9 years old but would NEVER consider themselves as anything but Australian. We view our relatives in the UK as not as us. The culture here is different to that in the UK and unique to Australians. The FEELING of being Australian flows through John's music. Australian is his identity.
The difference between Farnsey and a lot of singers is the voice...and the constant smile on his face...A man who loves his work.

The beautiful thing about John apart from his voice and he’s a genuine down to earth Aussie bloke is that when people in his band have solo’s he introduces them and kind of stands back so they are in the limelight. He’s so humble. Not an artist that has ever thought “it’s all about me” like some artists these days. He’s a very funny country boy. I’ve loved and enjoyed our John for decades. Even now he’s like 70 and he still has it.
The amazing thing about John is he has so much power in his voice and he would only be using 20% of it and he sounds like this. Imagine if he used 100%.
He walks and jumps and dances while belting out tunes with ease.

I think it's difficult to describe John Farnham to people outside of Australia. He had his first hit as a child ("little Johnny Farnham") in the 60's. For Australia, imagine rolling up all 4 Beatles into 1 person, and you get John Farnham. A national treasure, a true legend.

John farnham is one of the best male singers of all time. End of story. The next male singer to carey his legacy in modern time is another Australien named Guy Sebastian. Amazing voice.
John Farnham was in Little River Band for a while during the 1980s replacing the original singer Glenn Shorrock. John started in the mid - late 1960s in Australia. You should see him do You’re the Voice at the 2020 Fire Fighters Benefit with Brian May of Queen, 2 indigenous Australians 1 on digeridoo one singing ‘in language’, oh and Olivia Newton-John joined them as well.
He was singing great especially when you consider he was about 70 years old at the time

Very few artists these days include the audience. This how you win their hearts. Sing with them, not just at them. Too many artists these days are worried about how they'll look on film......well take it from John, you will look like a warm human being. Rehearsed to death so it looks so natural when they deal with anything. And that is why John has such a great time - he knows how to deal with anything on stage.

As a Kiwi being quite competitive and a bit fighty with Aussie (in a little brother way) I can find no fault with Farnsy and consider him an Australasian treasure.
