I had the pleasure, or rather the honor, of having worked in Germany as Export Customer Service Representative for this car. That was the best time of my professional life. Of the many celebrities I met, the car itself was the most impressive. Unbeatable!
Stately, elegant, even majestic. Just some of the words that come to mind to describe this iconic car. One can see why it was a favorite of the likes of diplomats, captains of industry and, well, despots. Thank you for the video.
ah yes, i bought one of these off a fellow who traded it for a 454 chevelle in the late seventies. done had it blinged to the nines by a renowned coach builder of the era. still have the car to this day, and take her out on the roads at least once a year. softest ride, smoothest trunk close, and luxurious seats, a ride that can't be beat.

I was born in the 80s in a 3rd world country and the younger me thought of these as old fashioned and associated them with our tinpot dictators, to me the epitome of luxury was the Lincoln townhouse limousines ubiquitous in Hollywood movies, but now I appreciate them for the engineering masterpieces they are.
As a former murderous African general who took power in a blood soaked coup in the mid 70's, this was my primary vehicle choice as the tyrannical president of said country. I obviously can't say which African nation I ruled with an iron fist, but now I live my days blissfully in exile and still have my 600 Pullman.. This video brought back wonderful memories.
In 1950s, the American cars were the pinnacle of luxury. Better than a Rolls, Bentley or Mercedes. Their styling was so superior that in 1958 Mercedes brought out tailfins on their cars. Love the 600 but each of them have their own place. P.S. These cars cost a bomb to maintain and fix
@WeeShoeyDugless probably in that era. Look at the V16 Cadillacs from the 1930s era. Magnificent cars and alot more reliable than the 600. Having said that, the 600 is a great car!
@@gautamsehgal9683 More cylinders doesn't mean better, the sweetest, most balanced is a straight 6. A better car than the Caddy was the Dusenberg SJ.... But, sadly, who remembers them? The 600 will always be remembered as the 'Best car in the World' because it was and is.
I saw footage of some of the dictators that owned this type of Mercedes. The most surprising for me was the Kims of North Korea. Nothing says "Capitalist" like a Mercedes limousine.
Technically the very best back then! Styling was a different thing: All that fat chrome shouted questionable taste - RR did a much better job in creating sophisticated design.
The 600 needed a bigger engine, a quality auto transmission (GM), an efficient a/c (GM), and ridden of all this nonsense hydraulic/pneumatic powered everything. Also, even the swb models weren't fit as owner/drivers (unlike Silver Shadows) because of the disproportion between front side windows that are too narrow, and the rear compartment side glass given it a "must be chauffeured" look. If not for that styling flaw the 600 would have sold like hotcakes (like the Silver Shadow).
"Benz" is spelled without a "t," please. It is the family name of one of the two name givers, Karl Friedrich Benz, after whom the company Daimler-Benz AG (today Mercedes-Benz Group AG) was named. Karl later renamed himself Carl, with a "C".

1970 Merceds Benz 600 Pullman IS DEFINITELY ON MY BUCKET LIST FOR 2024, ALWAYS HAS BEEN A DREAM-CAR OF MINE- THANK YOU CONCERT OF KIMGD.

Gorgeous 600. Somethings going on under the hood, I've heard 240D's that are quieter. I owned a 4.5 & 6.3. Prost!
Just majestic beyond impressive.

This Merc has a presence like no other car on earth. It signifies power and authority, period.
Awesome looking Mercedes 600 Pullman in black
Just watched your video, and loved it, now I can't wait to take my 6.3 out for a drive. Thank you
Woulda been killer to have some words. But THANK YOU for not having schmaltzy music!
Maybe some Oktoberfest Beer Drinking Songs?
such an icon of a car.
These cars are the top of the line
Very nice. Shame you didn’t talk and tell us more about it.
Over engineered for it’s time. So beautiful and elegant at the same time.
Мерседес с таким дизайном кузова и интерьера, но с современной начинкой- даст прикурить многим, если не всем в классе!
Как уютно внутри как в квартире маленькой
Ешо ценность в том,что он и в том исполнении круче новых нынешних.
Well preserved. Well presented.
Love this car , I think the Pullman proportions are better than the 4 door saloon .
This is the first time a see a Pullman 600 without a sunroof !!
Wich year model is this one? I think it´s older than 1972.
I first became aware of it in the 80's on the show Falcon Crest, a conveyance for only the super wealthy & important I thought to myself!🤔
Éste auto, una joya costosa y lujosa, tengo yo entendido que era para uso diplomático o presidencial. El gobierno alemán tenía uno a su disposición.
I love Mercedes-Benz and Rolls-Royce! The best luxury cars in the world!
ROLLS ROYCE, CADILLAC FROM ANY YEAR ARE JUST A GOOD JOKE NEXT TO THIS GERMAN PIECE OF ART
Totally agree. But you have to be filthy rich to own one of these. The cost to maintain this is a kidney. Or 2 maybe.

Beautiful! I owned one just like this in 1979. I traded it for 1 1980 ZIL, what a mistake.
how much did it cost back in the 70's? must have been costly

We have Hugh Hefner's used limo.
Servicing/ repairing the air suspension cost more than the car is worth.

Only the Sultan of Johor AlMarhum Sultan Ismail using this model in early 70's for the official ceremony
From the start right up to '70's and '80's & even the '90's Mercedes existed in a class of it's own - sadly lost the plot thereafter.
Somehow, today's aerodynamic designs don't lend themselves well to stretch limousines.
Needs a lot of parkingspace.
¿Acerca del consumo de este automovil nadie dice nada?
Around 15/16mpg but remember, you are pulling over 2 & 1/2 tons of metal there👍
