Hi! I was listening along and thinking, "Star" is the perfect shortened version of your new name...since you love stars...and then you said that very thing! "Les" could be a good nickname too. My son just legalized his new name in the last couple of days - I think he's just waiting for his social security card.
Such a cool name! I had a great uncle (grandpa's older brother) in Cuba named Celestino and everyone called him Tino 😊 I am not sure if we've talked about this but I was not born with the name Andrea, I legally changed it as a teenager after going by first Viola and then Andie which was a derivative of my legal name that I liked. I have always liked my name because I gave it a lot of thought and picked it myself - our thought processes for picking our names are actually very similar! Congrats and thank you for sharing the journey with us!
Thank you! I remember you saying you chose the name Andrea/Andie, but didn't know about the Viola part. That's really cool that you chose your name as a teenager!
Nice to meet you Celestarius! I went through the process of selecting a new name a while back, and it's difficult to find the perfect name! I finally settled on a family name that feels like a really good fit, and it's made such a difference to have a name I'm comfortable with.
Congratulations on your new unique identifier, Celestarius! I propose as an idea for content on your blog to document your experience of going to Starbucks and see how the write your name on your cup. Also, the benefit to this name will pay off when using your name for waiting lists( be it restaurants or anywhere else). I also will be curious how long it takes for junk mail to catch up with your new name. I love your choice for your middle name, too! My tangential brain wanted to tell you that if you decide you want to go for a gladiator vibe, Celestarius Maximus would be fun. Good luck next Tuesday!
@@CelesteM Fair point. I don't go to Starbuck's either. But they have such a grand reputation of mangling people's names, that it may be worth going just once. :)
What a cool name!! I hope you love it and enjoy using it and hearing it a lot more! I think other people will think it’s cool and enjoy using it, too :) not that other people are the focus here, but I for one I think it’s fun to say! I also think that using AI to help with the creative process is a really cool idea. In the end, it seems like it ended up presenting you with enough options and helping you crystallize the thought process that you eventually came up with an idea on your own! I think the creative value in that is huge!
That is one of the coolest names I've ever seen omg! Congrats on coming up with it and I'm happy you're excited about it. For the monetization, does it help to watch old videos too or just the newer ones?
Congrats. I think that really is a gorgeous name. Almost said “stellar,” and I’m laughing and cringing at the pun. Maybe I still should have. I’m sure it’ll be fun trying to find a nickname you’re happy with as well. I imagine there are so many different options and can understand you not wishing people to start calling you ones that you might not enjoy.
That's a really cool name! I really like it! Oh, and you've probably thought about this already, but just in case you haven't, I wanted to warn you that since you're probably the only person in the world with that name, if you change your channel name and people you meet Google your name, they most likely will come across this channel. I don't know if that could be an issue for you. I just Googled it and came across a song named Celestarius by Layla Cox, it's on TH-cam! Have you heard it?
Yes, I just found that song! It has a cool sound! And yes, I had thought of that so I'm trying to decide if I'm going to change the channel name to Celestarius or something else. Good thinking, thank you!
When you posted about this video yesterday on FB I was thinking Starsprinkles in my head so Star fits quite nicely. I think Cel works nicely as a nickname too since it doesn't seem fem or masc.
Do you know if watching on x2 minimizes the impact of the watch time for a video? I usually watch at x2 but i won't if it minimizes the impact of the watch time
Great question. From what I've found searching, it sounds like they probably go by actual time watched, so yes, it would be better to watch it at 1x (and slowed down would be even better, though of course that would be difficult to actually watch). I usually watch videos a little sped up too (not usually 2x though) and hadn't thought about this so I'm glad you brought it up!
Was Celestus anywhere in the mix when you were brainstorming? "-us" was the common (masculine) suffix when Romans would Latinize a non-Roman name. I think you even mention the "-us = masculine" part in the video. Regardless, happy you found the one that speaks to your heart.
It's so perfect for you. Enjoy! I think you'll find if a nickname really fits, people will use it. I have gender neutral names I'm not changing, but started using Andre, a more gendered form of my middle name, for convenience when a more gendered name was useful. I guess it just seemed right because everyone made the switch, even though I said I don't mind my first name, it isn't a dead name, etc. Even my 90yo mother made the switch immediately, and consistently. She sometimes calls me her daughter Andre, but the name isn't confusing to her.
That's really interesting! Also, I had to think to remember what your first name was because I've thought of you as Andre for so long already, so that proves your point!
How can I best help you feel supported. I love your channel. The video where you give your viewers tips on how to survive top surgery. I have saved the video. So that I view it again 💚
I don’t know why…but when you said that you could go by Les that really seemed to fit you, especially for a situation where you might want to introduce yourself at the gym. I can’t wait to find out what you end up going with. I also have an unusual name, Teiva, that is rather gender neutral. I am a cis female. I hope that you get your monetization back soon!
All the best on the hearing and hope it goes well, definitely felt good when my new passport listed gender as "F" (as I kept the same name it was a little easier). I guess that the "us" part might do that since I believe that was a masculine form in Latin grammar but could be wrong. Maybe Cell will sound good as it has a sort of Sci Fi theme and Cel would be similar except for being the Etruscan Goddess of the Earth. Still my English is not the best so maybe it sounds different.
Congratulations on your new name! I'm a nonbinary with a name I created as well, and it absolutely stands out, but it is freeing to have a name that isn't already gendered by my cultures. My nickname(s), however, are generally interpreted as femme, and if I introduce myself as Amber, it is very likely that people who were calling me he/they will switch to she/her, buuuut, *I* know that it's short for Amberthest, and I love all the little nickname variations of the name, so it doesn't bother me much these days.
@@CelesteM Thank you! It just popped into my head one day when I was in middle school; I remember googling it to see what it meant, but there were zero results, so I started creating my own meaning for it, and it has evolved alongside me since.
How bada$$: I made my own name!! Go you! Have you considered "Aster" as a nickname? Gender-neutral, means "star", conceivable shortening of Celestarius. Your point of "I'm Celestarius but you can call me C" also has the social advantage of assuring people you're not being dishonest, just considerate. If that makes sense. I also found that when I imported names, I had to consider both how they personally felt to myself and how they would be gendered in the cultural context I live. Some masculine names sound very feminine to the American ear. I could see the confusion about being French with the name Celeste Monsour.

I think Les is very cool if you need a more discreet nickname in a stuffy professional setting, and Star is great with friends
Thank you! And congrats to your son!!
that's such an epic name !! It makes you sound like a super hero xD !!

@CelesteM Celestus is less of a mouthful but also Google tells me it's a species of lizard so maybe stick with your first choice. 😆

@@CelesteM Thanks, I happened to find out looking up the name Cel.
Names are interesting things in so many ways.
heteronormie spaces:
C, Cel, Les, Lester (lots of nicknames don't retain original spelling), Starius, Arius, Mercury (use your middle name)
middle ground:
Celestar
queer spaces:
Celest, Star, Stari, Ari
Congrats on your name, Celestarius!
