    Man I love hearing the sound of that Cummins in that skidder. Lot different from the 6.7 Cummins in the Ram pickup trucks but I know it’s in an off road application.

    Should take a detach to Georgia, usa and backload a b758 buncher , if weiler will let you borrow one.(with all the cancelled shows, live demos etc) To have a track machine to use when the 830 is away getting the under carriage R & M. Might need a ladder from Lowes to get in the 758 cab.

    I would think that on certain ground there would be benefits to running a less tractive tire. The “slick” tires would tear up less soil than fresh meats or chains, and actually minimize rutting.

    People don't understand that machine has to slip somewhere. If you put chains on the back you would most definitely destroy the bogies

    I would hate to put chains on those tires, my arms and shoulders would be shot cause they must be extremely heavy. A lot of extra weight for the motor to pull.

    hi man, 1 question - i know that u are not using cable skidders, but what is your opinion about old clark 880?

  • @jeffcharley3195
    @jeffcharley3195 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    When Chad is pulling a drag, there seems to be a lot of wheel spin. How long do skidded tires last? I'm sure they must cost a bundle!

    • @daw162
      @daw162 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I've never logged, so my comments are worth $0.00, but logging anywhere in hills seems to be a spinning tire exercise. I do have a bunch of farming relatives, and my parents finally just got us out of it recently. Tires are expensive enough now that a lot of older used tractors with newer tires have used tire values equal to the whole tractor's sale price.
      Sounds like the end of the video nailed thought number two, which is bare tires protect the drive system in a machine with someone running hard.
      I'm sure those tires are more expensive than ag tires are right now, too (18x42 ag tires were about $1500 each last I checked), as we've had rears punctured by locust thorns and you couldn't stand a logger tire that would allow that.

    LOL I know these are hydro drive but doesn't it always "sound" like its just one gear too high when pulling a load? as if it could downshift one gear/raise rpm 300 or so it would be perfect LOL always sounds like its in wrong gear even when there are no gears LOL
    NOW...actual serious question, what size grapple you tun on that D model? the 21 or 25 sq ft one?
    thanks, as always good video

    Hey ct, stupid question....but when yall done cutting and processing the forest...do you go back in and replant new saplings so it can be logged again? I know alot of places do..just wondering how yall do it? I'm sure you have a video about it...I didn't find one..thanks
