@DrMentosFreshMaker Is that “Rudy Wonka” in your pfp? Never seen that one before. I want a Metazoo card like that now 😹
all those black aragorns and galadriels need to go somewhere
“Wah wah wah bitch I’m a baby” - you
As mentioned in video and my own personal experience, I believe that there is currently a disconnect where bulk is not worth the labor it takes to sort/price it. The downward price pressure due to overprinting has sucked up a lot of the old margin that used to be there. You used to be able to cull the old shadowmoor bulk for random oddities worth 5 or 10 bucks to commander players. All that type of stuff has now gotten a reprint. Now all the bulk is just that, 10 cent cards you're glad to be rid of. A $10/hr employee would have to sort/price/find/sell 100 of those rares in an hour to pay for themselves.
This
Facts 💯%
You're absolutely right and I've been calling this for the past several years. You should only be able to reprint a card once every 5 years at the most. Otherwise you are ruining your own game. They cooked their golden goose
Having sold bulk myself before sadly most of the cards are worth less than $0.10 apiece now. Unfortunately because of shipping costs you can’t sell bulk for less than $0.10 without taking a loss so it just ends up sitting unsold for a while.
@@blaze556922 this isn’t the problem. It’s card design. There are far more bulk rares and mythics that have no playable value outside of limited/draft. People are constantly worried about power creep, but the reality is we have a ton of these so-called special cards that aren’t playable.
Resident bulk guy here:
The bulk market in the macro has shifted up in Q2 and Q3 of 2023, but then shifted down in Q4. Many large bulk buying companies took in a lot of bulk in the middle part of the year, and now have a lot. Bulk offer prices have dropped 20-50% in the last 3 months on average, with several pausing or getting out altogether. Not just Magic, but Pokemon or Yugioh as well. This is a relatively normal cycle, honestly, it just flipped a little fast this time.
And to be clear - this isn't a market crash in bulk. Magic bulk prices have dropped from $6-7 per 1000 to $5 per 1000. Pokemon and Yugioh are down from $15/1k to $10/1k. It's not some crazy dip to zero. Every card has value.
❤ there he is! I was wondering how long it'd take to see you here. Definitely not a crash. Markets across the board are going back to normal era, again, and again.
@@troycrowell3544 Lol, someone sent this video to my community, we've all had a bit of a talk about it =]
Hiya @TCGBulkKings where can I find MTG bulk for 7 or 8 per thousand?
@@seant3d112 reach out to Star City games lol
I will not have bulk ready to sell for a bit, I'm in a rebuilding phase
damn. this guy bulks
Rudy’s step sister is for sure stuck in the card grading machine
Haha
“I think I lost a Sol Ring in the couch, step bro”
With how many sets have come out in recent years I could only imagine how much garbage is taking up space on the huge stores. After only 2 years of playing I gave away a few thousand cards just to get the worthless junk out of my house.
Jet fuel can't melt bulk game pieces
True, it incinerates it
Wotcs printers sure can though lol
DID YOU KNOW THERE IS ALMOST 40 VARIANTS OF BLACK ARAGORN GAME PIECE? WHAT DO YOU THINK THESE BOXES ARE FULL OF?
That guy isn't Aragorn.
They went hard in the paint with that extreme garbage.
When I heard LOTR was coming to magic i was stoked. Then I saw the product....wtf is this shit?
@@monkey39128A big slap in the face to J.R.R. Tolkien
@@monkey39128yes he is, cry harder.
Understandable. I too got too many versions of the same cards with list, mystery, regular, show case, full art, alternate art, upside down, reverse printing, no art, no text, space foil, regular foil, shooting-star foil, surge foil, border foil, inverse foil, stamped card, dates-tamped card, double-faced and all the tons of variations of a damn single card I missed to note.
but... but... but... GAME PEICES!
Forgot the No-Card version
I think you made some of those up. But there's really no way to know 😂
Oil slick and step sister versions as well lol
You're right, it is definitely a good sign when one of your major retailers decides it isn't worth even selling your products at all and the other major retailer decides to blow out all of your second hand products because they can't be bothered to actually try to sell them.
So much bulk right now. Watching the Prof's box opening game vids is a simple reminder of how many cards are simply not worth the ink they're printed with. There's too many variants, and most people, unless it's a banger card, can't be bothered with most of this jank.
They make a great bonfire though. 😀😈🔥
*ink they’re printed WITH. 👍
rudy flipped the rubik cube face from red to green
BUYBUYBUY
😂
One thing I see more and more people do in my FNM or Commander nights where you have to buy a couple of boosters as an entry fee is literally just open the boosters, SOME TIME pick up the rare if it's good and literally just leave the rest on the table for someone to pick, give it directly to the store owner (which is a pretty insane level of cuckery) or just trash it.
I came back from my last commander night with 6 boosters, minus 5 rares, that people just left to rot and I'll be real, I'm not even sure that was a good move since these cards are basically worthless and I won't use more than maybe 1 or 2 of them.
MTG cards have become more worthless and bulk filled than ever.
Just checked one of their scg cons coming up. They're charging $60 for a sealed draft. Its about 50% increase from this past summer. I think they badly need money. 3 pack draft is $50 at the con. That's 100% increase
umm its barely even a sale? a lot of it is like 10-15%off, which honestly makes it the same cost as TCGplayer lol
It's pretty simple: 10+ years ago, bulk cards with potential could spike up in value so there was an incentive to keep bulk. Now bulk has no potential because they reprint everything, including bulk. So many cards that had potential to gain value in the past now have zero potential.
It makes very little sense to sit on bulk cards hoping they go up in value some day. They won't spike, they'll be reprinted a few dozen times in the span of a year.
Scg has the worst buylist ever, and of course 2 out of the 3 lgs that take trades by me use them. I used to get the usual awful bulk price for foil c/u and rares at 10 cents, with foil rares and mythics getting you up to 25 cents each…..now they dont take bulk foils and bulk rares get you 1 cent to 5 cents….yes a damn penny!! Wtf; less than 25% value on cards $10 or more and not even 40% on cards above $50….how can buylist be less than $10 for a $50 card?! They Offered me $45 credit, not even cash, on a literally $108 card…..foh with that
Yeah, if you have any valuable singles you are much better selling them yourself rather then trading into a store. If you take about fifteen percent off the market low from the price you can move cards through FB, eBay etc.
Thank you Rudy, for coming down from your ivory tower to let us know everything is ok.
Game is dead within 2 years, mark my words
💯💯
I'm part of me wishes the game died a long time ago better to have it die and be remembered as a good game then it being dragged out and looking like this in my opinion.
Magic 2 incoming
Can't wait
Nah
Rudy won't break financially from propping the MTG market up, but will break mentally, from propping the market up.
Fact is, some bulk cards do spike. Some are over printed, some will always be niche.
Having lots of cards in stock which are not moving or are very labour intensive to find once sold, is detrimental to profits.
That's right people, these companies do their best to make money. Go down the Unabomber thought process if you want, but this is the way it is!
Toilet paper will be Toilet paper.........Rudy fights so hard to make like it's Chinese buuyuong
Rudy's hair looking AI generated in this one. Wait until wotc decides to AI generate cards then they can fire R&D and we can have the GAME PIECES of the future. It's a win-win and we can laugh all the way to taco bell with our reserve list reprints in etched foil promos
Bulk is not a “position”. It’s fucking bulk. They are cards that have no value whatsoever after the limited format.
Just start cutting your all cards and making magic pogs. New Market opportunity 💰
Nowadays they eagerly reprint even unplayable crap..
Now where’s Return of Fallen Empires? :D
The flash is trash era of magic is really lame. It feels like they're trying to squeeze value out of whales and killing every LGS and normal player and average size investor. This is a company that is out of touch with its consumers and it saddens me greatly. Thank God we will always have our old draft booster boxes so we can play this game with friends for the next 60 years, you know the 'gathering'.
I had a conversation with Gavin a few years ago and told him the direction things were going and he didn't want to hear it. He literally wouldn't even acknowledge that what I was saying was even possible. Too many products a year and overdoing print runs on them combined with so many variants and reprinting everything that was ever worth anything is a surefire way to fail. The negativity had already started brewing but he couldn't see the writing on the wall. He made zero efforts to change direction or even take any advice into account. He and Mark are extremely stubborn individuals and the fact that they have dedicated their lives to magic just to ruin it is very disheartening. I like them both but they are not good business people. They are just good shills. They will say anything the company wants them to say and will never go against the grain. That is not how a company's stays successful. Yes men, will kill any industry...
Isn't this NNN? Isn't "unloading a large position" against the rules?
😂
What does it matter if SCG has a sale when they overprice everything anyhow. It should say SCG lowest overprices ever.
Sorcery > MTG
fab >>≥>>>>>
I'm still waiting for Sorcery box opening😂
Mabey they just have cleaned up the storage, looking forward at the tempo of new MTG sets "We need to upgrade the storage, make a spring cleaning" and then selling things that takes up a huge amount of space.
anyone have a link to the post he is referring to by the company?
Inb4 mtglion says it's Rudy's fault that star city games is dumping "game pieces"
ITS THE END. ITS THE END. MAGIC IS FINALLY DONE. ITS OVER. THEY HAVE REALLY DONE IT THIS TIME. (i've been saying this every year since 1994).
Keep buying timmy! This time is different!
Wait when is this happening? Don’t see anything on their social media or their website
Since i got back into paper i only buy singles and the occasional precon to give away, but even i have accumulated bulk because these damn sellers through it in as packing material and wotc tosses me jank boosters with every deck... But... I... Just... Cant... Throw... It ...Out...
I dumped most of my MTG in 2015 for 5 Bitcoin.
They are freeing up space for Lorcana.
For the first time,
I can actually sense a little bit of fear in Rudy's voice.
Especially when he tells you "its bullish" to see.
He’s got to keep the Timmy’s calm. Everything’s bullish! Keep buying! To the moon! (As everything is collapsing) lol
@@fatmakesyoufat Fish monger never screams rotten fish. :)
Honestly i don't understand how he sees current state and products to be positive for the game and undervalued, wizards themselves made sure these aren't worth what he deems them to be with their undercuts and dumps.
I also fail to understand how you could see increasing prices of the product by 40/50% next year in positive light, but hey capitalism go brrrrrrrrr.
It's not so much capitalism, but rather the Federal Reserve everyone seems to ignore. The value of the dollar has gone down by over 95% in the last 100 years. That's a variable to consider instead of contemplating a marriage with socialism lol.@@cinskio7977
@@cinskio7977 Other big issue is actual liquidity of some of this product. If you check the frequency of sales for some boxes, they are one box every 4 days, some are one every 14 days.
At one every 4 days, that is 90 per year,
or 15 cases per year. There are multiple guys sitting with 15 cases of each title in a basement some where, along with thousands of patreons, and tens of thousands of timmies with product.
Later in 2024 when the school loans have to start being repaid or default, going to see a lot of cardboard, watches and funko pops hitting the market,
which might start the run to the door for many others holding product.
As with everything in this last decade, there will be an overhaul of the game. New product (yet not) : "Magic Unity". Entirely new line of cards (yet not). 35 different printings of every rare and mythic, absolutely no value in anything. Woke garbage everywhere you look.
woke? ----- CRT for MTG?
So I just got a pallet of commons/ uncommons for 1940 free shipping.
The reason I was given was that it was overstock because they use to sell to some big companies that sold bulk on amazon and now those companies no longer do so.
And ya it was pretty picked over.
Rudy using a country size yearly supply of copium in this video. 🤣
Ferry and Frog gaming is selling there Jace the Mind Sculpter position.. all WorldWake Jace's are 1 dollar.. I just traded them a Weiss box for 100 copies
I am considering a deal buying 400.000 bulk commons and uncommons at the moment, since they are already sorted. Not sure if I want to deal with it though xD
If the economy doesn't get better, or gets worse(which is most likely) it won't matter what WOTC/ Hasbro does. They could give you a free Blow J coupon in every box topper and still wouldn't make a difference.
....
Who is giving the J?
I'd pay to feed WotC mashed potatoes.
@@EdwinRosario432 it could be players choice and still wouldn't move the needle. Better hold all your bulk for heat son
my mom actually tried this. but you dont need to buy any cardboard.

Well it wouldn’t hurt either
@@MadMagicShowgame night your place I’ll bring pizza
This game is dying. Prices are not going to zero, but the prices on everything in this baby card game is going to go down in value. Cardboard is no longer cool. Nobody under the age of 30 plays this baby card game anymore.
Nah
The best toilet paper you can ever have. The ink will allow you to go easier on your fourth time you sit down on the throne due to taco sauce clotting.
Why does Rudy keep acting like if wotc changes course it will somehow unprint all the overprinted boxes or should I say “investments” lol
So they wanted to unload bulk for Black Friday. And get some space in the warehouse
Link?
Dude, I wish I could get rid of all my bulk cards tbh. There are so many commons and uncommon that are utterly unplayable in any format
You can. Trash ‘em 🚮
You’ll feel lighter and can get back to making decks with useful cards.
Recycling ♻️ is good too.
I threw out about 50k bulk the last time i moved. Sifted through my old bulk and traded away about 20k. Sure something might spike some day but im not spending the time to sort that much garbage
Before anyone throws cards in the garbage, please reach out to me
Reach out to me, ill cover shipping costs.
The effort/labor to sell the cards is greater than their value.
But that won't happen to your cardboard,
because you are super Timmy and know what to buy.
you must be spying on my ebay account...
@@davidpeters1613 lol, buy pokemon, not mtg if you want cardboard. Even one piece is better than MTG now.
bulk is already at zero Rudy, has been at least for the past few years worth of sets. Id say honestly any bulk since like 2016 is wasted space and dump it all been reprinted if it was any good anyways!
Ibrmemeber wheb i first got into magic around 2009. Troll and toad had listed over 500k cards (bulk) for 1c per card. After a lot of it sold, they raised it to 3c/ea. My firends and I ordered 3k cards thinking we were kings haha. I wish we ordered more.
0:12: 📦 Moon City Games is looking to unload a large amount of bulk Magic: The Gathering cards, including promos, rares, and mythics, for various reasons.
2:54: 🃏 Moon City Games is selling a large number of Magic cards, but the timing is not considered smart.
5:56: 😊 The speaker remains optimistic and bullish about the changes happening in 2024 in the Magic: The Gathering community.
So we may never see Rudy sell stuff by the bulk. What is wrong with putting more energy elsewhere? Why mtg still after all that has happened within the last few years?
Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family, Rudy!
Just a simple Timmy like me , buying couple boxes each year, accumulate hundred of thousands cards over the past 25 last years... all the bulk of mythic and rare I don't know what to do with and nobody wants... imagine a store 😵💫😵💫
And I'm not talking about the uncom and common 😵
Lol it's because it's garbage, and they're dumping it while they can since it's not recovering. It's a smart move moving forward. Dump the dead weight and overhaul a new process moving forward with what WOTC is doing.
Is a high need thousand cards a lot for a company like that? Plus it’s the holiday season where people are spending loads of money.
Oh shit here we go again
RUDY!!!! The Rudy's Cube having two full yellow sides is a clear indication that all MTG game pieces are going to zero.
I unsubbed and resubbed after Rudy fondled the Rubik's cube less than 10 seconds in. What a wild ride. Love these intros.
how does one get ahold of Rudy to buy bulk from him? I'm looking to own 10k Nemesis Guardian Angels and checking every site and buying their stock weekly is for the birds.
It's bulk...who cares? There are piles of *free* bulk after a draft tournament at most local game stores.
Dare I say that 100,000 cards for a company the size of Star City Games is just a drop in the bucket. I am not sure the exact size of their storage but I would imagine it is massive.
When a company that buys bulk is saying f it, and is dumping the bulk, marginiazling the impact of that is insane considering the value of bulk.
Hey Rudy Alpha Hoarder did highlight pretty well in his last video that it wont be possible to buy up all alpha/beta 4 horseman the print runs are just to large. I hope its not your plan since you will have better luck buying hasbro out.
I wonder how much Card Kingdom pays in sponsorships to channels now days?
You think they slashed that budget?
Seems like a waste of money / month.
Maybe the current/future designs are rendering a lot of bulk as unplayable. Cards are being power-crept so hard that there is no way that someone would choose to buy an inferior card for the same price as its superior counterpart and it just doesn't make sense to continually store unwanted cards. I've run into the same problem, if i need common cards I will buy them on a need to own basis, all my chaff gets binned simply because I can't store every card I've ever owned.
Happy thanksgiving everyone! Alwais grateful for a new Rudy learning lesson! Stay awesome
I agree there are too many versions. But the game pieces are the ones not reprinted enough! Competitive decks are as expensive as they've ever been, except maybe Standard.
They've power creeped everything, narrowed metas and now everything less is bulk.
SunCityGames DUMPS BULK "TACO FILLINGS"
*FEAR*
If they had huge blocks of non guaranteed *non duplicate* bulk rares/mythics across several sets, it would be n attractive product to me
Starcity liquidating seems like a bearish indicator to me
SC probably believes value will continue to go down if they are doing this bulk selling
While them selling off isn't proof it's a bad sign, it still more likely a bad sign than a neutral or good sign.
thats also how you artificially decrease the stock overall, and influence the prices.
nobody should be able to do that.
Moon city games story the problem
Bulk cards when combed gold shall be seen
i burn my bulk great way to keep warm in winter and these foils give great colors to the flame
People don't sell if they think the value is going to increase overtime....
There's a channel called Uma or Umu or something like that, and that dude is starting to strawman recently that Rudy is scamming people and has been attacking him for a while now. Lmao, Rudy lives rent free in that dudes head. 😂
Thankfully most of my bulk is gone now. It takes up so much space.
Or it is (D.) TCGplayer Direct, the number one way to make money off of bulk, is no longer a profitable/worthwhile bulk endeavor.
Less buyers? Overprinting? TCGplayer shenanigans? A combination of two/all three?
"Say the course Timmy and keep buying useless crap from me though!" - Rudy
