you have two good things going for you .,..1st you have a taste for fine guitars and a appreciation for a GREAT entertainer. My Hiatt needs to be discovered by so many who still have never yet realized what a marvelous entertainer he is. And one more thing, I think we all like the energy you put in to your tunes.
SoloDallas. My brother in Canada knows I like Keith Urban. We both like John Hiatt. He said I have to watch your video. It was terrific. Wow, such great guitar playing. Wish I had heard this long ago.
@61SGman That's what YOU think mate. Not what others watching you may think. Remember, it's not how you look that matters in music. Is what you sound like. Thanks, Fil
@Bluebuthappy182 We have to distinguish between "chambered" and "weight relieved". What you are referring to here? The premise is, even cheap guitars or non great construction ones may sound incredible, but you need to test them out personally and usually, a large number of them. By going with custom shop (used!) you usually have a higher degree of possibilities to score a good guitar
@xXJarvarXx You can use the past tense already "Ran out of room there fil" lol Yep. The little cab is going away though, that's for my new band and will go into rehearsal room
Man, love you style and tone. You make that LP sound nice and warm, or should I say hot. Your style is good, but not too good (as in slick). That's a compliment. Never heard that version before. Great camera placement, too. I'll be stealing some of your stuff, if you don't mind.
@61SGman Don't mind my face. Concentrate on the music, sounds, timing. Actually, try it yourself: you'll see, it's very useful! Just let your body move your natural way
@SoloFilDallas cool thanks man. To be honest i'm not quite in the Gibson Custom Shop bracket but interesting thoughts. I always thought that chambered bodies were good as basically there is more air which can resonate guess I'll hae to play a few others and see how it goes. I know another guy who has some good second hand guitars so i'll call into him and have a chat with him and play with a few of his guitars, thanks again
@Bluebuthappy182 I do have some thoughts about it. Recently, I moved towards the chambered ones (two) as I find they represent more my vision of a '50s LP sound. Light, resonant. Fantastic. I am not much after the heavier (recent) production reissues. BUT there is always exceptions. I know 2010 and 2011 Gibson production (from the custom shop) is simply excellent, superb. I'd say, go play them all. Feel the neck; the action (lower it if necessary). Listen to resonance or lack of; Come to my site
Awesome. your energy and expression and skill is very entertaining. I suppose we shy beginners should just turn our feelings lose when we play and not worry what people think. If you could do a short video lesson on the basic licks that would be appreciated.
+Kirk Brown Kirk, Sir, brother, friend: we DO not have to care about how we look. We must not. We must let go as much as we can and do what we love the most. In many ways, I am a shy beginner as well. And you'd be surprised to know that more times than he needs to remember, Angus Young also feels the same about it. He doesn't perceive himself as the 'God' we think he is. Very simple person. I am sure he doubts himself (as a player) just as much as me or you. As we all do. This is what I learned so far. Enjoy yourself and progress with your sound. I would love to revert to making videos (tutorials) and I look forward to being able to do just that very soon. Yours, sincerely, Fil 'SoloDallas'
i spent 30 years playing in a 3 piece as singer lead/rhythm guitarist never got complaints from audience except when we finished for the night, just a marshall plexi and my strat covered everything no problems just a little crunch and overdrive for some lead parts..its in your playing not effects
Hi SoloDallas, I have a totally random question for you. I'm thinking of buying my first Gibson LP and the guy in the shop was telling me that the particuar ones he has have unchambered bodies. Have you any thoughts as to the strengths or weaknessess of chambered and un chambered bodies on Gibson LP? Thanks. Great playing and really nice song choice by the way
keep it up fil

+SoloDallas Thanks for that! Keep inspiring!

@alienw99 'course I can: I have been playing for 31/32 years. HOWEVER I sucked for most. I only made real progress in the last 10 years.
You really love Gibson guitars,i love them too...but i can't afford them. :(
