Seems like common sense that you would coach the whole person and not just a performance and that you would think about how each thing is going to effect their life not just their performance. It’s sad that most coaches have never even thought about this. As a former gymnast I experienced bad coaching and it affected me my whole life, hopefully there will be more coaches that choose to coach like Miss. Val

Hi there Ms. Val. My name is Rebecca Muñoz. I'm a single mom and coach. This is probably the hardest words I've ever written. My relationship with my daughter is really strained and it's my fault. We live in Houston. She practiced Gymnastics until she was 15. Loved it for a while then didn't. Probably because I was all about it and kept on moving from place to place, but for whatever reason I was very mean to her. Said really harsh things to her and of course that enabled her to rebel strongly against me. The day she turned 18, she left our apartment to move in with her boyfriend and his Dad. Alienating me almost 100%. I deserved that. That broke my heart and didn't understand what to do or how to react. I did what i knew how to do and moved to Berkeley and stayed there for 3 years. To make this a bit shorter, I'm back in Houston. Heigeil(my daughter) is pushing me away from her with all of her might. All I'm wishing for is an opportunity to fix what I broke in her heart and soul. If you have a chance, would you speak with me...please. Oklahoma fans still love UCLA! I always felt like our teams had a mutual respect for each other. Kj and Miss Val are close and the teams have a lot of connections with the gymnasts.
