Thank you very much for this video. I'm trying to set up a cheap synth setup for a player at a different church and this vid is really helping me out. It's going to be so much easier to teach a person to use an ipad than trying to train them to use ableton and such lol
Nathan Weisser I’ve just gotten ableton live 10 lite.... it came free with my m-audio code 61 and it’s such a pain ! I’ve added 2 midi sounds in session view and when I press two or more notes, the whole thing glitches. The CPU metre shows 1% on idle, and then when I play a chord, it sky rockets to 200%!!
Hi John how are you, I want to thank you for a great video here bud,, its very inspiring, and i love love Gospel Bud,, i owe so much to the beauty of black gospel music, and i am currently wondering to get an ipad for music Im a soul gospel rock singer musician and seeing your vid is just great,, Im always trying to get that beautiful black gospel sound into all i do, thanks again, a big high five from Dublin Ireland,, May God Bless and keep you,, Bail Dia Ort agus Beanacht= irish for the Blessing of God on you,, all the best bud,,

1st, thank you much for doing these videos!!! Your knowledge and commitment is appreciated. Just a question tho... I loved MKSensations and NeoSoul Keys for iPad when I first got them, but I noticed something after gigging with them. It seems like there are a few velocity layers missing, and that sample ROM is what you sacrifice to have it on your iPad. That said, I still use them (because they still sound great), but I know not to expect the full gamut of expressivity. Have you had the same experience?
+rapture jazz yup...but that had to be sacrificed to get the file size down small enough to get on an iPad...the desktop version is 5gb and takes up 500mb of ram to run...so they had to sacrifice that in order to make it small and efficient to run on an iPad
I just started using my iPad , I have neo , mk sensation , sample tank, but some times it takes awhile for my 88 key Yamaha 535 to pick up my software . looking forward to get a MacBook pro 2010
It doesn't really matter what kind you get...it really comes down to budget, how many keys you want and what kind of feel you need(synth action, Semi-weighted, Weighted)
What's a good. Acoustic piano app that I can use for my iPad. I do a lot of worship for churches and looking for app that give me a nice acoustic piano sound.
I have been following you... and im seriously looking to get on this platform. I am not pro guys like you all but the loop community sure will help me get by and also step up my worship band. A list for what i need to get would be good. :) keep it coming bro lots of help here. I have the MK sensation on my iMac though and i love it.
I like the Korg Module, do i have to download any other app to make the korg module work? I've heard that I have too.download another app to make this Korg Module app work. I didn't know that u can combine the MK Sensation and the Korg and make layers together. Thanks for your time.
Hi Mike I'm new to all this, so I might ask some vague questions but bear with me. How have you connected the iPad, can I connect it to my dgx 660 Yamaha? Because it had midi
It's connected via USB and the Apple Camera connection kit (the white cord pluged into my ipad) and yes you can connect it. If it has a usb port on the back of it use that. If it doesnt then you will need a USB to Midi cable
+silV there is no polyphony in the apps...you are only limited to the CPU of the device you are using...so once too many notes max out the CPU the sound will cut out
teryll alston I've never owned a Yamaha...Im not really sure what might cause that...sometimes I have to close the app and open it back up to get it to pick up my Nektar
+Otto Guitar yup you can easily do that...there are a few apps that allow for you to do it and there are other methods such as utilizing different midi channels for each board/each app
After purchasing these in downloading them to the iPad can you convert them over to the MacBook as well .You talked about purchasing the ivory Kong Pack but it had too much storage for your iPad so you deleted it can you download it to your MacBook once you purchase it
John Mike I'm wondering..... can I somehow configure the LX88+ sliders...to mix the MKSENSATION voices? It's too hard to reach that far and slide those faders....even on my 12.9" MBPro... So, if the LX88+ sliders could control the MKSENSATION sliders.....it would be BUTTAH!!!
Does anyone else have this midi controller? I was thinking about purchasing it, but wanted to know if anyone knows if this is capable. I know John Mike's busy.
Sorry I meant iPad 4 mini, its brand new. I got it because I had an iPad2 air that was incompatible with the board I was using(Novation LaunchKey 49). I'm now using a key station 88 and it always says its to much memory.
+teryll alston yup...there is a couple of apps that will let you Midi map...easiest way is just to put the boards on different Midi channels...say 1 and 2 ...one board on channel 1 the other on channel 2...and then change the midi channel in the corresponding apps you are using
I run 2 controllers with an Ipad and a powered USB hub. The Korg iM1 app will allow up to 8 individual layers in Combi mode. Those 8 sounds can be divided between the 2 boards however I need. For instance, when we do "Rock Steady" (Whispers) I have a brass stack routed the left split of the top controller and piano split to the right. In the same patch I have a saw synth stack routed to the right hand of the bottom controller and strings routed to the left. Some of the sounds are a bit dated, but with a little tweaking it works like champ. I also run Galileo for organ stuff, the newer Neo-Soul Keys Studio for EP's and Caustic routed to the pads for stabs and one-hits.
hey John Mike wanted to know if you get a higher gb ipad will that help with build ups while holding the pedal and would 32 gb be enough for right now?
abraham hayles no gb have nothing to do with build ups...that's all based on what iPad you have and how much CPU processing power you have...newer iPads have more power...
John Mike had a feeling you would say that. Sucks cause I love the Hollywood strings and Piano in garage band. Now to find a way to easily turn strings on and off in garage band while using a piano from some other app
which Ipad do i need using my iphone 6 but the screen is just to small especially for mk sensation and my ipad mini 1 isnt cutting it what is the bear minimum upgrade I need to run it with the same power that my iphone 6splus can. with that i can run about 4 sounds with no problems and even 5 if im not to bizzy on the keys
Hey I’m wondering if you have any thoughts on why when I do the same thing with my iPad , I seem to have overload of my volume out to di’s/amp. Tried different cords from headphone jack. Any suggestions? Thank you!!
Love your presentation ❤
appreciate you taking the time out to answer my ? I'm at work watching the video from yesterday , thanks bro.
I would love to hear this without the key noise. It gets distracting.
yo man you make my mine working over time i can t believe this i now going to buy a expensive key board but now you make me into a believer thank you
+Samuel Henry you're welcome!

Great video, man! Did you test the Ravenscroft Piano for iPad? I think is the best sounding app for Piano Sound.
+Rodrigo Vazquez Sardella yes I did this video the day it came out

If you're running your iPad through a mixer or amp do you need a interface.?
+Joseph Bullock no you don't...90% of the time I never use an interface just run it to my mixer
1st, thank you much for doing these videos!!! Your knowledge and commitment is appreciated. Just a question tho... how are you man , what is a pretty good midi keyboard to purchase.and does it matter what kind you get?
It doesn't really matter what kind you get...it really comes down to budget, how many keys you want and what kind of feel you need(synth action, Semi-weighted, Weighted)
I wish I could play keyboard like you do I'd make some nice rnb beats I getting better at Melody's but im no pro lol
Dude you are crazy good! I just subscribed
What's a good. Acoustic piano app that I can use for my iPad. I do a lot of worship for churches and looking for app that give me a nice acoustic piano sound.
+alcozer12 check out Ravenscroft 275...I have a video of it on this channel
I have been following you... and im seriously looking to get on this platform. I am not pro guys like you all but the loop community sure will help me get by and also step up my worship band. A list for what i need to get would be good. :) keep it coming bro lots of help here. I have the MK sensation on my iMac though and i love it.
Winton Wilmot check out our gospelmultitracks TH-cam channel I got some setup vids on there
John Mike great will do that God bless bro...
Which Ipad version is that?
Thanks. Bless u bro
I like the Korg Module, do i have to download any other app to make the korg module work? I've heard that I have too.download another app to make this Korg Module app work. I didn't know that u can combine the MK Sensation and the Korg and make layers together. Thanks for your time.
Bronzeey1 no you don't have to download anything else...and you are welcome!
Hello! I have the lx88+. I’m using the apple USB adapter but the sound has a lot of delay. How can I fix it?
I love the MKS sounds but have had problems using it live. Very buggy.
Can you map the faders to mksensation and can the iPad power the keyboard cause I'm thinking of getting one
Yes and yes
doooooooooope
Hi Mike I'm new to all this, so I might ask some vague questions but bear with me. How have you connected the iPad, can I connect it to my dgx 660 Yamaha? Because it had midi

Please do the apps for android users
+paris sparta there aren't any!
What is the poliphony on the aps? :)
+silV there is no polyphony in the apps...you are only limited to the CPU of the device you are using...so once too many notes max out the CPU the sound will cut out
What brand mixer is that?
+Rev HD studio live by presonus...the link is in the description of the video
Hey John how do I setup that OBS software
In the setup shown here is the IPad charging?
Disregard I think the low battery warning came on around 28:14 so that means it’s not charging???
@John Mike What kind of mixer are you using
JAYDEZ Productions presonus 16.02
@John Mike Would you recommend that for live sound or just studio?
I watch your vids all the time bro, what do think could cause the Yamaha not to pick up as fast as my m-audio 47 keys?
teryll alston I've never owned a Yamaha...Im not really sure what might cause that...sometimes I have to close the app and open it back up to get it to pick up my Nektar
Is your mouse used for your iPad or your Mac?
flypurplestars i use it for my iPad
Is it possible to run 2 keys controllers on one ipad? So say one if organ all day and other is piano pad for example
+Otto Guitar yup you can easily do that...there are a few apps that allow for you to do it and there are other methods such as utilizing different midi channels for each board/each app
After purchasing these in downloading them to the iPad can you convert them over to the MacBook as well .You talked about purchasing the ivory Kong Pack but it had too much storage for your iPad so you deleted it can you download it to your MacBook once you purchase it
No you can’t...not with these
John Mike okay so these apps are specifically for iPads only
What ipad or iphone to choose that will be able to run this apps with no hangs or stops? Thank you!
+Alex Fedoseyev I would suggest at minimum an iPad Air or an iPhone 6s
really I was trying to purchase a Mac , but every I look not in my budget yet, so I'm looking for an 88 key semi weight.
+teryll alston get a used mac...I use a 2010 MacBook Pro...you can get a decent used Mac for under $500.....look at the Nektar LX 88 for a controller
I know John Mike's busy.
how is the feel on that Keys?
Winton Wilmot it's cool...not the best not the worse
Ok kool I may get one of that too... I have the keylabs6 but the key keeps on breaking out.:(
Can you save the MIDI mappings?
Yes
Having a difficult time finding a full sized keyboard (61 key or higher) that is compatible with my iPad 4. Any Suggestions?
marqnmphs the 4 might be a bit too old at this point...but you can try the m audio key station and oxygen series boards...but really any should work
Sorry I meant iPad 4 mini, its brand new. I got it because I had an iPad2 air that was incompatible with the board I was using(Novation LaunchKey 49). I'm now using a key station 88 and it always says its to much memory.
marqnmphs iPad air works most keyboards if it says to much power use a USB hub
wassup doc. just wondering if I could use two keyboards with the iPad and have one for bass an one for mains?
+teryll alston yup...there is a couple of apps that will let you Midi map...easiest way is just to put the boards on different Midi channels...say 1 and 2 ...one board on channel 1 the other on channel 2...and then change the midi channel in the corresponding apps you are using

Will android be able to run midi apps with low latency?? Like at least 20ms
+Legendary Mike I haven't found any
hey John Mike wanted to know if you get a higher gb ipad will that help with build ups while holding the pedal and would 32 gb be enough for right now?
abraham hayles no gb have nothing to do with build ups...that's all based on what iPad you have and how much CPU processing power you have...newer iPads have more power...
Okay and thank you for all that your doing for us gospel musicians I appreciate it
Is it possible to layer sounds in garage band for ipad so you can have piano strings or piano pads? If so how?
No it's not...but you can layer other apps with GarageBand
John Mike had a feeling you would say that. Sucks cause I love the Hollywood strings and Piano in garage band. Now to find a way to easily turn strings on and off in garage band while using a piano from some other app

+Herman Union iPad Air 1st gen...that's what I'm using
Hey I’m wondering if you have any thoughts on why when I do the same thing with my iPad , I seem to have overload of my volume out to di’s/amp. Tried different cords from headphone jack. Any suggestions? Thank you!!
+nicholas berg not sure there...trying different cords would be what I️ would suggest...but it might be something with the DI or amp you are using
And in 3 , 2, 1 🤣😂🤣
appreciate you taking the time out to answer my ? I'm at work watching the video from yesterday , thanks bro.
