    Thanks for making these videos. I'm in trade school right now but this is the side of the HVAC/R industry that I really want to get into.

      I'm glad it's helping you and it's a good field to get into kind of like utilities you always have a job and there's always too much work.

    I like your videos . It is very informative and easy to understand. I am an electrician at trade but do have to do visual inspection in retail refrigeration plants. Please do indicators of gas leaks and reasons for flood back /ice up towards the compressors.
    Keep making great videos.

    You are the best, I'm doing same thing on scroll compressor in 2 days, my question to you did you replace the oil filling control for the compressor to fix the over fill problem or not ? I'm going to take the extra oil out of the compressor and replace the oil controller because this problem happened for the second time on same compressor!

    • @gendronhvac-r1269
      @gendronhvac-r1269  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Usually when compressors overfill with oil it's not an oil Is controller problem.
      Sometimes It is but not normally.
      Normally the compressor is not turning on for some reason. And what happens is the oil slowly flows to the compressor through the suction.
      It typically goes off on some type of safety. Or maybe the contactor is not turning on the Is compressor properly.
      I would stick around and see if the compressor trips on some Type of failure. Or if the breaker has tripped.
      Anyway good luck man

    Just curious what caused that compressor sucks so much oil in it and didn’t discharge them back to the rack? Will this oil issue cause other compressors shut down due to the lack of oil , and that compressor with too much oil also not working ?

    • @gendronhvac-r1269
      @gendronhvac-r1269  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The compressor was tripped,
      Anything that prevents the compressor from turning on for example if a safety locks it out and doesn't automatically reset or anything that will keep a compressor turned off the compressor will eventually fill with oil if it's not isolated.
      Yes it steals all the oil from the rack and it will shut down all the compressors and the compressor itself doesn't run
      Hope that helps

    what are some common causes for a compressor to log with oil beyond the normal level/steal oil from other comps? Cheers!

    • @gendronhvac-r1269
      @gendronhvac-r1269  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Anything that would prevent the compressor from turning on. If the compressor is open to the rack but doesn't turn on that is when it fills up with oil.
      For example
      If The compressor is tripped the breaker.
      If a safety is malfunctioning.
      If a safety is locked out.
      If somebody turned off control Power but forgot to turn it on or turned it off in the controller.
      Stuff like that it's actually very common I hope that helps

      @@gendronhvac-r1269 thanks for the reply, that does help. I thought that the oil floats would stop that happening.
      So would the oil be over filling via the suction line pressure system if there was the above mentioned issues.

    • @gendronhvac-r1269
      @gendronhvac-r1269  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@thanktheknife
      Yes if oil float is working properly it does stop the oil from overfilling from the oil line. The oil slowly migrates down the suction just like you mentioned. Especially if the compressor is directly underneath a large circuit.

    Hey by any chance can you get oil on the txv and restrict Freon from flowing by?

    • @gendronhvac-r1269
      @gendronhvac-r1269  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Let me try to paraphrase your question just to make sure I have it right.
      " will oil in the TXV restrict refrigerant flow"
      So I mean maybe if you like super overfill the system I've never heard of that. Refrigerant oil is typically municipal that means that it disintegrates in the refrigerant. So you kind of have like this perfect mixture of liquid refrigerant and oil hitting your txvs so it is very unlikely it would do that. And even if you had like a huge quantity of oil like just straight oil more than likely the refrigerant would just push it through remember when the refrigerant hits your txvs it's a liquid just like oil so I think it wouldn't really do that.
      So I would say the short answer is most likely no.
      I hope that helps :)
