@Jasson Reyes give him the same courtesy and learn how to pronounce the name. If you visited someone but they changed your name to fit their culture after the visit. How would that make you feel.. his name is Eashoa and he was gallileian Aramaic and spoke the common language in Mesopotamia which was ancient Aramaic. Abraham wasn't a Jew. He was later considered one. Muhammad wasn't a Muslim but later was considered one. Eashoa wasn't Christian. But was later considered something named Jesus. How would this make everyone feel if this happens to them on their return visit. To find people that purposely changed you or me to fit their own cultural understandings after we are gone.

Something that hit me while watching this... Believing in His name means believing in Salvation through Him - not just believing He existed.

    • @DeAnnaYah
      @DeAnnaYah ปีที่แล้ว

His true name was “Yehoshua” and it means “Yahweh is salvation”. The Aramaic language shortened it to “Yeshua” meaning “Salvation”.
Yahshua’s entire mission was to bring us back to the Father. Yahshua is “The Word” of the Father. And the Father’s WORD created ALL things.
When we say “in the name of Yahshua I pray”
      We are essentially saying:
“By the authority and Power of thy salvation, according to thy word I do pray”.

The messiah is a jew. his bloodline is jewish. There'fore the translation should be of the hewbrew , not greek. John 4:22 of new testament says salvation is of the jews. • @greglovelace246
      @greglovelace246 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

Language is language, it's the meaning in your mind that counts. I will say I belive the original language is best due to a better context and deeper detailed knowledge it can bring you if you use this original language and meaning. For example paul said to get baptized in the "Name", so he's making importance on this name, on this title which is rarely found in the scriptures of any kind, even man made. The importance of a name, so in this case, I would say yeshua most likely what paul and the other apostles would use because it's abbreviated form from yehoshua and now by using this title instead of the English jesus would be a direct solution for getting baptized in the father, son and holy spirit. As The messiah stated that he comes in the fathers name and they practiced baptizing in Jesus (yeshua) name so in this case I would put importance on baptism in this glorious name but then to use whatever you desire, as long as you clearly mean the lord in your mind, you could personally call his title RED. But personally, I see direct conclusions from scripture that can back up the practice of baptism of yeshua.

We are Jews inwardly, religion edorses that kind of talk, it being more fitting is a personal opinion of yours and not scripture that if someone calls him Jesus it's unfitting. @@TeaGuy84 I'm sorry but you got it wrong. The Torah is the first five volume of the Tanakh which consists of Genesis - Deuteronomy, and is the core teaching of the Hebrew Scriptures that have been handed down first to the Jews and then the Gentiles (as the Pentateuch of the OT). The meaning of the word Torah is teaching, instruction and guidance, not law as how many translations rendered its meaning wrongly. Furthermore Yeshua Himself is the perfect embodiment of the Torah, as He came to fulfill them instead of replacing them. To say that Gentile Christians have nothing to do with the Hebraic roots of Messianic faith is somewhat absurd and unsound. The Messiah is a Jew, and Christians believe in the Jewish Messiah, not a whitewashed or a black man. That's the undeniable fact whether you like it or not.

Nowhere in the bible does it say believers must speak Aramaic or Hebrew even for names. Revelation 19:12 says "He has a name written on him that no one knows but he himself." So no one knows that name, not yet til we get to heaven. Also, bible says the animals call out to God when they are hungry and He feeds them. They don't even speak human language.

I don't know. I've been thinking about this a lot lately. My name is Charles. My name in spanish is Carlos. If someone started calling out to me saying "Carlos" I wouldn't respond. It's not my name. We don't translate people's names. Doing so is kind of rude and dismissive. Names are a big part of someone's identity. This is the Son of God we're talking about here. The Father specifically gave Him that specific name. There is actual power in the actual name. A mispronunciation is one thing, but calling Him a completely different name seems wrong. Calling Him a name that man gave Him, instead of the name the Father gave him. Why would we do that? Because we're used to it? Because it's easier? Because we're more comfortable with it? Sorry, I don't think that's enough of a reason. It's not hard to say Yeshua. There are so many versus stating the power and authority in His name. Maybe its a big deal. The Father is a prideful God, we know that. Maybe we should use the name He gave.
"Whatever you ask in my name, this I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. 14 If you ask me anything in my name, I will do it."
A lot of prayers aren't getting answered these days.

But then when it comes to preserving that name which is above all names then suddenly people can transliterate His name and say that is acceptable..

JESUS is not the wrong name, this world just can not believe in the name of JESUS, it takes faith that only God can give. The most important thing you can do is ask God to make sure that you have true faith, then this will not be an issue. But if you never ask Him for faith then you will keep going by your own understanding and never come to believe that JESUS is the name.
When you rely on your wisdom that comes from the world you can not know God. It is very hard for people to admit that God is out of their reach, but as scripture says His ways are not our ways and His thoughts are not our thoughts. Just as JESUS said no man can come to the Father but by Him.
This same way you can not come to believe in the name of JESUS unless God gives you the faith. Everyone loves that whosoever believes in Gods Son should not perish. But no one realizes that even believing in Him is impossible unless we ask God to help and give us the ability.

Sisi Hairy-Nope, you are wrong. As much as this may blow your mind, black people were in Africa. Anytime Scripture talks of black people,it takes great pains to identify them as such (the ETHIOPIAN eunuch,e.g.). Also, common sense: the Scripture makes a point of mentioning that Moses had a black wife that his biological family did not approve of him marrying. Why would this be if all Jews were black? Doesn't make sense, does it. Also, the Bible says King David was "ruddy", a term applied to white people, like the Irish. Lastly, the book of Revelation says Jesus had hair and HEAD as white as wool. (Not wooly hair, as some people try to say. Would not make sense to say his HEAD was literally wool,of course). So no, you are incorrect.

The Lord detests sewing discord among believers (Poverbs 6:16-19) and those who go around making unnecessary burdens for people. "He has eyes like blazing fire, and many royal crowns on His head. He has a name written on Him that only He Himself knows (Rev 19:12). " If you want to call Him by his Hebrew name, fine. Go for it. But it won't make you any better or righteous than those who truly LOVE Him and OBEY Him. Do you really think the Son of God cares if you call Him Jesus or Yeshua? This is what he requires of us: Follow his Commandments and obey His Teachings? I've known Him all my life as Jesus and his teachings of loving others, the very least of the least, including my enemies, stand true no matter if you call him Jesus or Yeshua. Stop sewing discord!

Unfortunately, demons, also, know what their names are and when you call upon one by his name (eg. Jesus) they may respond and you may get the demon because you are calling it's name. This isn't rocket science. You call upon a demon, you get a demon. When the name you use, connects to God in your spirit, you get God, even if you use the wrong name. If you are nor spiritually mature enough to connect the name you use to God, you get the demon, instead if you use the name of a demon. This is a simple principle that Christians don't understand. You all need to get educated.

The fact that He let His life be taken from Him, wheither or not He could lift it back up again, shows and tells me that He new and knows me. I am sorry Christopher but you actually don't know what or who the Messiah is. The Messiah has absolutely nothing to do with the new test or jesus. The Messiah is a Jewish concept understood properly only when following the Rabbinic guidelines and has to do with the Jewish people alone. Yes, the Gentiles will also be there when he actually comes, but as an assistance for Israel in being able to serve God. (thus they too will share in serving God) But it will be under the guidance of the Jewish people and for the Jewish people.

And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and he that sat upon him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he doth judge and make war.
His eyes were as a flame of fire, and on his head were many crowns; and he had a name written, that no man knew, but he himself.
And he was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and his name is called The Word of God.
And the armies which were in heaven followed him upon white horses, clothed in fine linen, white and clean.
And out of his mouth goeth a sharp sword, that with it he should smite the nations: and he shall rule them with a rod of iron: and he treadeth the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God.

Counselor. Mighty God. So He is the Father. He is the Son. He is the Holy Spirit. These three are one. I agree with my friend that there is nothing wrong with calling Him Jesus. He knows who I am talking with and about.
The reason I mention Lord is that I have noticed in my prayer life, I will say Lord in distress at times and that is me saying YOU are LORD over this, not me. I need YOUR help because I can't do this without YOUR strength. YOU are LORD. It is important to be mindful he is LORD.
He is Master. He is Ruler. He is the King of my heart.

All Semitic languages and the alphabet came from the Phoneticians, and when we make time to learn how THEY used their consonants and vowels (Abjad), we can over stand how language and dialects changed (added or removed) over the centuries. Is not translating or changing the saviors name to anything other than his true name out of line with the word (DaBaRiYM 4:2, 12:32 "Deuteronomy" and ChaZaN 22:18-19 "Revelation")? Scripture is very clear that we are NOT to add or remove from the word, and who was the word made flesh YaHuWShuWA. Although the translated (not transliterated / the chasing of sound) Latin name "Jesus", the Aramaic name "YeShuWA" and the English name "Joshua" are true, they don't have the same sound, authortive power or meaning of the saviors true ABaRiY (aka Hebrew) name YaHuWShuWA (which means "I Am YaHuWaHs salvation and riches to those who cry out"), simply beautiful (AShaH 4:12 "Acts"). There is nothing wrong with all languages of the world, but when it comes to the scriptures we must keep it pure, set aside emotion and rightly divide the word. Also, scripture reminds us that apostle ShAuWL (Paul) on the road to Damascus heard the voice from ShaMaH (heaven) in the Hebrew tongue. If scripture says we must worship the Creator in RuWaCh (spirit) and in truth, if after we have seen the FACTS and continue to choose to call His or His son any OTHER name then their true name truth (YaHuWChaNaN 4:24 "John")? NO MATTER a person’s race, creed, color or nationality, salvation ONLY comes by calling on the true name of YaHuWaH through His son YaHuWShuWA (the truth, the life and the way) MaShaL 4:12, 10:33-36 (Acts). ShaLuWM (YaHuWChaNaN 8:32 "John").

I think there is much more involving the name of the Son of YAH then this man offers. Let me explain some points to consider.
The majority who worship Jesus claim they are "born again" they state Jesus paid the price for sinning once and for all, and by repeating John 3:16 you become born again and that gift of repeating that sentence offers you eternal salvation excusing you from all sin.
The majority of those who worship Yahushua keep the 10 commandments not out of duty for salvation sake, but they keep them out of respect to their Heavenly Father YHVH.
Those who worship Jesus sin without penalty or worry.
Those who worship Yahushua keep the commandments and live a lifestyle pleasing to YHVH (best we can)...
These are two very different paths, one is correct and one is false, one right one wrong, one leads to heaven one leads to hell...
Heaven will not be the training ground to teach how to live a Godly lifestyle. Those who are granted entry, "already know"...
    Shalom

    • @christinebuncic5998
      @christinebuncic5998 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

2xtream, it matters not to Jesus/Yahushua what he is called , as long as he is called. Your line of stating that those that call him Jesus sin without penalty or worry, or are leading to a wrong path in life are false. People have different names in different languages. Funny, but yashua was referred to as " Rabbi" by his followers as well as the people following him while he was alive. This was out of respect. You are not the authority. When he stated that there would be a falling away, I'm very certain that he was not referring to his name, but referring to his teachings. I would hope that you will try to be more open & listen to what is being described in these videos. The teachings are meant to help all.

    • @slentara1
      @slentara1 8 ปีที่แล้ว +3

Your comparison is unfounded. The name means nothing as far as people's lifestyle goes. I am a fifth generation Sabbath keeper. We've taught the 10 commandments and have kept them through the power of the Holy Ghost, the Ruach. We have always since the 1920s, which is as far back as I can confirm this, called him Jesus. That fact had nothing to do with whether or we lived holy lives. The blame for the state of modern Christianity falls on men that distort the scriptures not on a transliteration, albeit a pretty bad one, of His name.

      Christine, what Yahushua said:
The greetings in the marketplaces, and the title of ‘Rabbi’ by which they are addressed.
      Matthew 23:8
8But you are not to be called ‘Rabbi,’ for you have one Teacher, and you are all brothers. 9And do not call anyone on earth your father, for you have one Father, who is in heaven.Christine, you say "It matters not to Jesus/Yahushua what is called"... Well by the words out of his own mouth doesn't seem to follow along with your opinion now does it... It seems names "ARE" very important and how they are applied...If I answered you and started off by call you BOB you wouldn't you mind now, would you?The words from Yahushua are not "open" for opinions. Because I have been educated concerning HEBREW and Greek language and i appreciate the historical changes in English. Miracles happen now, when i pray in the name of YAHSHUA.
True: English is the worst of all human language and this presentation is a great example why. Yes sometimes i use the name "jesus" to others who do not know this truth YET....and when opportunity arises i teach the truth.
And what most people have forgotten is that there is POWER in the name (weather Jesus or YAHshua)...and the difference is in the sincerity of your heart. If you are practicing sin, HE will NOT hear you. But if your heart is cleanse from sin, then HIS power is enforced in your declarations desires and supplications. HalleluYAHovah

Lex, you've touched on some important points about the translation and the relationship between Joshua and Jesus. When EVERYTHING was translated in the Scriptures, a great deal of things lost their true meaning. Every Hebrew Name has a meaning, unlike Greek and English names, which in the majority of cases, mean nothing.
But, I truly think that a "translation of a Name (Especially Yeshua's) is totally unnecessary.
Wherever you buy a Toyota, it's a Toyota.
It's not called a Toyotaroni in Italy.
It's not a Toyotatov in Russia.
Do Americans call Giuseppe Verdi - Joseph Green?
There was no need to change Yeshua's Name, either.
Personally, I do believe there was a devious reason for this change that DOES involve taking the "Jewishness" out of the Scriptures. This can be demonstrated by the numerous arguments back and forth between the "church fathers".
For instance, in the early centuries of Christianity, some church fathers such as Justin Martyr wrote against the Sabbath as part of anti-Jewish rhetoric. In his Dialogue With Trypho (chapter 42) that the Sabbath had been given to the Jews only because they were hardhearted. Tertullian, in his Letter On Prayer, mentioned those who insisted on showing the same respect to Sabbath as to Sunday by standing instead of kneeling in prayer in church on those days.
This change from Yeshua to Jesus, as well as the change from the Tetragrammaton YHVH (YeHoVaH) 6823 times into the LORD. "the LORD" is not His Name, LORD is a Title.
Psalm 91:14 through 16 - 14“Because he cleaves to Me in love, therefore I deliver him; I set him on high BECAUSE HE HAS KNOWN MY NAME, 15 When he calls on Me, I answer him. I am with him in distress: I deliver him and esteem him. 16 With long life, I satisfy him and and show him My deliverance.
I take this as not only simply calling on the just some Name, but caring enough to search out His True Name. Nehemia Gordon does an EXCELLENT presentation on the TRUE name of the GOD of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.
We ALL need to "unlearn the lies" and you have helped a great deal in this with your series of videos throughout the years.
    Thanks

If such etymological purity discussion was essential to Christianity, there would not be as many believers saved. Whosoever calls upon His name shall be saved. The Good News and its power are essential.
    The Son of God says,
'All power in heaven and on earth is given to Me. Therefore, ...' (Matthew 28:18f.)
Notice, it does not say, all power is given to My name - but to Me.

This may be the problem that has driven so many of us back to our Hebrew roots. It is difficult for me to put a hard number on it at the moment but I think we can easily say that 60 to 70% of the population of the good old USA claim to be Christian. They claim to be , but lives aren't changing . the divorce rate is exactly the same in the church as it is out of the church. I think the same can be said for the use of pornography and many other destructive sins. A poster above warned those of us who practice Hebrew doctrine to get out of the way because Christians are going to win the culture back .. Excuse me : Aren't you the guys who lost the culture in the first place? Would it be such a bad idea to purify our etymology. I remember reading somewhere that we should study to show ourselves approved .

It's Yeshua, "Yahshua" is unattested. ישוע in both Hebrew and Aramaic is vocalized as "Yēšū'a".
If you believe it is "Yahshua" because you think it needs "Yah" in it, then His name should have been spelled יהשוע since "Yah" in Hebrew is יה (ex. יהושע Yəhōšu'a - Joshua), but it isn't.
Basically, you're adding a "Yah" where it doesn't belong.
His name is nearly identical to the actual Hebrew word for salvation ישועה "Yəšū'ā.
It is Yeshua in the Old Testament, it is Yeshua in the Peshitta and all Hebrew translations of the New Testament.

Jesus wasn't Greek, He was Jewish.
Yeshua is His Hebrew/Aramaic name, id est the name His disciples (also Jews) would have called Him by.
In the Tanakh, in Ezra, you will find someone named Jeshua. In the ORIGINAL Hebrew, it is ישוע, Yeshua. In the Greek Septuagint it is Ιησούς!
Even a little bit of research could tell you what I just wrote. It's quite clear you don't know Hebrew or Aramaic. Do you even know Greek? Because if you read the LXX you would've seen that Jesus's name in Greek is equivalent to both ישוע and יהושע.

It doesn't change your salvation but it does show God that you are going the extra mile to know his son and develop a deeper relationship with him. And isn't that the reason we exist.

  • @matt15068
    @matt15068 9 ปีที่แล้ว +45

The name 'Jesus' is an appropriate use of the Lord's name; it's just how we English speakers know Him as. God created all these languages back at the scattering of people back at the Tower of Babel, and those languages change overtime; even the Hebrew used today is not the kind used centuries ago.
My name Matthew still means Gift of Yahweh, even though it's not Mattithyahu.
Yeshua was translated into Greek for the common tongue of the people, like you said. What's most important is the message behind who came, and died for our sins; not if you're correctly using His name. I think your video is a good approach to the issue; names do have meaning behind them indeed, but it's not a bigger matter as some make it. There are fanatics out there that say Jesus Christ is pagan, correlating to Zeus and Krishna. People treat this as a matter of salvation; that's Pharisaical theology!
We should still reverence our Lord's name also, at the same time, but not to the extreme's that we hyphenate words, or substitute 'Adonai' in place of God's name. It may be okay to use Adonai, or LORD in place of the Tetragrammaton however, because translation of the name is debatable; also, the Tetragrammaton refers to Christ, and Christ is Lord. In terms of translation of the Tetragrammaton, some languages say Yahweh, and others Yahuwah. In English, we translate it as Jehovah.
I think the bigger matter is winning souls, not necessarily obsessing on the correct form / pronunciation of our Creator's name. This may actually turn people away from God, which is just what the devil wants. Adding or Diminishing from God's word / commands is equally condemnable. Let us be careful not to do either.
On a side note: All these languages will perish anyhow, we'll be given a pure one. Zeph. 3:9 For then will I turn to the people a pure language, that they may all call upon the name of the LORD, to serve him with one consent.

good point. So to my understanding it doesn't mean only one name under heaven transliterated or translated it to me that means one name and ONE name only. what about what John 5:43 says" I have come in my father's name and you do not receive me if another comes in his own name you will receive ". Not to be rude BUT if your name is Mark its Mark in whatever country you go. it wouldn't be translated to Marta or Maricio. It would still be Mark. Please forgive me if i sounded rude. My story as to when I came to know Jesus, but then found Yeshua.
I was going to a Pentecostal church and when I started to find out about the resurrection and his Sabbath, I had the Bishop of Charlotte of Pentecostals come over to my House on a Shabbat. And then we prayed as we then started discussing scripture and also had the book, 10 commandments twice removed, it was a 7th day Adventist book. The Bishop also purchased one to see what I was getting into… So as the long discussion went at the end we ended with prayer and I was praying and used the Name YESHUA instead of Jesus and he got upset to why did you use that name and not JESUS! I explained to him that, that is his Name! but the Bishop did not like that name. Since then I respectively told the Bishop I will no longer go back to Sunday Church and will follow Yeshua and keep his Commandments. The Bishop left and was confused and upset. Sadly I was Astonished of him being upset that when I prayed in the Name of Yeshua he got mad. That’s the reason why I pray and use the Name Yeshua. And I’m not against people who use the name Jesus, but there’s a revelation in the name YESHUA! Amen!

I agree Jesus rescues me from demonic attacks every week I tried yahushuah once but it . didn't work maybe I pronounced it. Wrong. I was in a ditch with spiritual suppression recently and I called on Jesus I got delivered immediately for like 5mins my body wasn't mine I felt forces coming out I meditated and got instructions on what I had to do to get closer to him to avoid sprits and boy oh boy did it work. So I personally praise the name of JESUS.

I would prefer to call him by his original name (Yeshua )because that's his real name. we should be careful about translations because that doesn't necessarily mean the translation is correct. the Bible says at the( Name of Yeshua) every knee shall bow, and every tongue shall confess , that He is Lord to the glory of God. The Bible also said that "there is no other name given that men shall be saved, but by the name (Yeshua). So names are important , and the meanings as well. if we know the truth, why are we trying to find ways around it? My name is Derrick. if you call my Bob im going to ignore you because that's not my name. you don't get to decide what name to call me. i do. same with the name of God. He has a Name and we should call HIM BY HE REAL NAME.

Yes!!! I agree with you!!! Most Jewish people call him by the name of Yeshua. Are you Jewish? And some people go to church on Sundays, I have nothing against that. But, God does say that you should rest on the sabbath, known as Saturday. Because on the 7th day that he created the earth, he rested. So we should respect that and rest on that day.

      Anvar,
I'm Jewish and most Jewish people refer to jesus as either Yaishu or Yoshkeh. & God only says that Jews (Israelites) are to rest on the seventh day. In fact somebody who is not Jewish is forbidden from resting on ANY day.
Genesis 8:22 is the source for this... "So long as the earth exists, seedtime and harvest, cold and heat, summer and winter, and day and night SHALL NOT REST." In addition to the plain meaning of the verse, this also means that God is saying that it is forbidden for people (other than Israel) to rest at any time.

Names are important m HIS NAME is the Name above all Names. Also, I will take my advice from person of Authority such as a priest. I say this as I am a care host and an Evangelist. We need to keep things consistent. Rather than throw out confusion . I hear Evangelicals calling Jesus by Yashua which is obviously Hebrew still, as Christ said estalogiclay speaking on several occasions. Jesu or Jesus is the name I use quite readily and comfortably

+Lex Meyer (UNLEARN) ... lets hope they are better than this garbage you are putting out. 7 minutes to say nothing? I could answer the evolution of the English language in less than 30 seconds, and also explain the rest in another 30 seconds: follow the migration of the syllables of the Hebrew name Yeshua to Greek and to Latin, and then to English -- you'll end up with Jesus. In Greek, the "Y" changes to an "I" and the "sh" to a hard "s" so it comes out Iesous. From there it goes to Latin - Iesus - and then in Germanic language in which the "y" {sound} is spelled with a "j." That's how we arrive to JESUS in English. And since He answers the prayers of the English people, why even speak Hebrew? Tell us, what is His name in Chinese, Russian, Dutch, Arabic, German, Angolian, etc? LOL You haven't actually looked at this closely at all, have you? Funny (actually, its not). Tell us, how many Greeks ever - EVER - said "Yeshua"? Prove it. Oh wait. You'd have to fist disprove that there is NO "SH" SOUND IN GREEK before you even try! And since you can't, well, its pretty darn obvious that the Greeks called Him IESOUS. And guess what? he never, ever corrected them or demanded that they speak Hebrew. LOL are you TH-cam people. Y'all are heeping so much judgment over yourselves its not even funny. i'ts really not.

      +MessengerOfTruth Greetings,
Technically, in English, the name "Jesus" was spelled with an "I", so it was "Iesus", as is evidenced in the 1611 KJV and the Geneva Bibles.
Though I am not a "sacred namer" (in the sense that the names must be pronounced correctly in the original Hebrew - a task that no man can really be sure of doing 100% correctly, especially with the Father's name יהוה, since nobody really knows for sure what pronunciation system they actually had back then), I will say that the reason for looking to the Hebrew is for the meanings. Transliterations are fine, however, they mean nothing in the language that they were transliterated into. For the meaning, one must go to the original language.
Most, if not all, of the transliterations of the Messiah's name in any language (we'll use the English, Jesus, as an example for obvious reasons) is simply a label where the original meaning is lost. This obviously is not to say that people do not or cannot know who "Jesus" is or what He did. However, go to the original language and we see that the Messiah's name, יהושע, consists of two words, יהוה (the name of Elohim, the Father) and the root ישע (meaning to help or save, or more literally, to be wide or free), thus the meaning, יהוה saves or יהוה is salvation, a meaning which again, isn't found in the English.
Since in Hebrew, names are often related to a person's character, it's better to understand the character of Elohim and of the Messiah as conveyed by their names (not to be limited to just their names) than to pronounce them a certain way, and to learn and apply their teachings to our walk.
      Shalom

[[Technically, in English, the name "Jesus" was spelled with an "I", so it was "Iesus", as is evidenced in the 1611 KJV and the Geneva Bibles.]]
I’m aware of how Jesus is translated … from the Greek to the Latin to Germaic to Old English (i) to Modern English (J). I don’t see your point. All languages evolve.

[[Though I am not a "sacred namer" (in the sense that the names must be pronounced correctly in the original Hebrew - a task that no man can really be sure of doing 100% correctly, especially with the Father's name יהוה, since nobody really knows for sure what pronunciation system they actually had back then), ]]
Good of you to know that. And it IS and IS NOT about phonetics (which you call a “pronunciation system”). How so? Because …
      1)
Paleo Hebrew has no vowels, so the issue isn’t about phonetics, but rather, it’s about VOWEL PLACEMENT. No one alive knows what goes into YHWH. While “Yahweh” is the most commonly accepted, that does not default “commonly accepted” in absolute correctness. In English, it would be Jehovah.
      2)
Its easier which Jesus’ name, because we know the PHONETICS of His name does not have a “Yahoo” sound. So anyone who types Yahushua (or some variation) doesn’t know a lick of Hebrew. They are confusing Joshua for Jesus. Jesus’ Hebrew name is properly written in English as Yeshua or Y’shua.

[[I will say that the reason for looking to the Hebrew is for the meanings.]]
That is true for all languages. But you will also run into several difficulties as well, just like above, how ti could be about phonetics, or not. For instance:
      1)
Sngs 1v5 I am black, but comely, O ye daughters of Jerusalem, as the tents of Kedar, as the curtains of Solomon.
How do you explain to a Hebrew Israelite that they are wrong about Solomon being black? How do you explain this to them and show their error? Ignoring Verse 2 and 4 which clearly shows the speaker is talking to/about a MALE (Solomon was not gay, so it had to have been a black queen), you wouldn’t need to look at the Hebrew anything. The very English word “comely” is a word that is only every used for FEMALES. Like a “beautiful” bride or a “pretty” girl. Men are not beautiful. Boys are not pretty. So who needs the Hebrew to know that COMELY is a word that is only used for FEMALES, and therefore, it was NOT Solomon that was calling himself “black, but comely” but instead it was a beautiful black queen.
So no, you are wrong in this case about needing the Hebrew word for meaning … and there are thousands of other cases.
In the next example, I’ll show you how BOTH the Hebrew AND the English are needed.

      2)
Lam 5v10 Our skin was black like an oven because of the terrible famine.
So in this example, one may think that the Hebrews are black people, because the translation says “black”. But when you go to the Hebrew, the Hebrew will show you that the word mean HOT. So, why is it “black”? It is falsely translated? No. The problem is the EVOULTION OF THE ENGLOSH LANGUAGE. So you must look at the English to learn why the word is “black” instead of “hot.” You will learn that in OLD ENGLISH, the words ‘black’ and ‘hot’ were interchangabe. But English has obviously evolved. Hot and black mean two completely different things in MODERN ENGLISH. And that is where the problem is for those who don’t truly study. They are easily deceived because of the two langues (and the evolution of English).
The next example will be what you are talking about.

      3)
Daniel 7v9 I beheld till the thrones were cast down, and the Ancient of days did sit, whose garment was white as snow, and the hair of his head like the pure wool: his throne was like the fiery flame, and his wheels as burning fire.
In this example we see “pure wool.” Some may argue that God is black (retarded, I know) because His hair is like “pure wool”. However, when you do what you are talking about, and go to the HEBREW meaning of the world pure, you will learn that it means CLEAN. And clean wool is WHITE. So really, Daniel is saying the same thing that John wrote, which is that “His head and His hairs were WHITE like wool, as WHITE as snow” … which represents perfect righteousness and perfect wisdom.
The next example will both disagree with you, and agree.

      4)
Zech 13v7 Awake, O sword, against my shepherd, and against the man that is my fellow, saith the LORD of hosts:
How do you know that it’s a SWORD? Why isn’t it a DAGGER or a KNIFE or an AXE or some other sharp instrument? You don’t know. You cant’ know because the Hebrew word cherub means ALL of those things! And that is where you will run into trouble. It must come from context and past usage at that point. So in this example, it disagrees with you about needing Hebrew for the meanings.
On the flip side, when you learn what the Hebrew word for “fellow” means, and when you learn that a fellow is the equal of it (such as a big cat to a lion, or an angel to another angelic being, or a human being is to another human), then you will learn that God is literally calling a MORTAL MAN …. HIS EQUAL!
Yeah. I’ve been doing this for a long time. :-)

SIDE NOTE: Prophecy says that Gods message will be turned into a “pure language”. I believe this is English because:
      a)
Hebrew was already the language, so it couldn’t be “turned into” something that already existed.
      b)
the Gospel was spread primarily through the world in English
      c)
English is a purer language than Hebrew, as my example above shows. For one Hebrew word could be MANY differeint things. But in English, we KNOW the difference between a knife and a sword and a axe and a mattock, etc. We don’t even need to think about it. Just like we know the difference between “god” and “God” all because of a capitialized letter. But when it comes to ‘elohym …. Well … tell me, what am I talking about when I type:
      ‘elohym
Tell me. Am I talking about God, or an idol, or an angel or a human magistrate?
You don’t know … and Hebrw cannot help you. You would need me to put it in a sentince so you can grasp the context of the world. BUT, when it comes to ENGLISH, you don’t’ have to guess. You KNOW what these things are without the need for context.
      -God
      -god
      -angel
      -judge
      A purer language indeed.

[[ Transliterations are fine, however, they mean nothing in the language that they were transliterated into.]]
Wrong. And that is why only learned men and scholars should do the translating, because they know what they are doing.
Chinese is a very large alphabet, and it’s a very difficult language to learn. But, if I wanted a MASCULINE NAME that meant SALVATION, then I would be unto something, because Jesus’ name means SALVATION. In fact, His name IS Salvation!

[[ For the meaning, one must go to the original language.]]
Well, I just gave 4 very clear examples that this IS {{{and}}} ISN’T true.
[[Most, if not all, of the transliterations of the Messiah's name in any language (we'll use the English, Jesus, as an example for obvious reasons) is simply a label where the original meaning is lost. ]]
Jesus’ name is Salvation. And last I could check, the world knows that miracles have occurred it eh name of JESUS, not ‘Yeshua’
Religious types who lack a relationship (KNOWING Him and EXPERIEINCING Him) turn to simple things, as if He has not heard His people all this time. As if He has not answered. As if He would hear sooner if we select one language over the other, and inserting things that neither He nor any author of the Biblical writ ever suggested. But I know Him. I’ve EXPEREIENCED Him. What sort of fool would I be to KNOW Him and EXPERIENCE HIS POWER and SEE HIS MIRACLES in the mighty name of Jesus, and then “switch jerseys”? That’s … crazy. That like trying to not only fix something that isn’t broken, its like trying to fix something that is PERFECT. All you do is reduce its quality, really.
In fact, there is no “sh” sound in Hebrew, so no Greek ever said “Yeshua” … but He answered. He even taught the Greeks. Not to mention those who say He spoke ARAMAIAC as the common language. So, are the Arabs wrong for saying “Isa”? Nope.

[[This obviously is not to say that people do not or cannot know who "Jesus" is or what He did. However, go to the original language and we see that the Messiah's name, יהושע, consists of two words, יהוה (the name of Elohim, the Father) and the root ישע (meaning to help or save, or more literally, to be wide or free), thus the meaning, יהוה saves or יהוה is salvation, a meaning which again, isn't found in the English.]]
Jesus answers ALL who call His name, regardless of their language.
-Jesus (obviously, since it is the most global of His names)
-Yeshua (the least, because before the ‘internet”, you Gentiles didn’t even have your first clue!)
      -Isa
      -Iesous
      -Jezus
      -Jezu
… and I cant’ even remember what it is in Japanese and Chinese.

[[Since in Hebrew, names are often related to a person's character, it's better to understand the character of Elohim and of the Messiah as conveyed by their names (not to be limited to just their names) than to pronounce them a certain way, and to learn and apply their teachings to our walk.]]
So the weak of faith/knowledge tend to argue. But the REALITY is:
Proverbs 30v4 Who hath ascended up into heaven, or descended? who hath gathered the wind in his fists? who hath bound the waters in a garment? who hath established all the ends of the earth? WHAT IS HIS NAME, and WHAT IS HIS SON’S NAME, {{{IF}}} thou canst tell?
Unfortunately for you, you cannot tell.
NO ONE KNOWS THE TRUE NAME OF GOD.
      1)
      OLD TESTAMENT:
Judges 13v18 … Why askest thou thus after my name, seeing it is secret?
      2)
      NEW TESTAMENT:
Revelation 19v12 … and He had a name written, that no man knew, but He Himself.
So, what is His name … and what is His Son’s name? Seems to me that the answer to Solomon’s question is already clearly answered. NO MAN TRULY KNOWS. But God has given us all we need.
YHWH cannot be pronounced without vowels, and no man knows the correct vowels.
And there were MANY who were names Iesous/Yeshua during and before and after Jesus walked the earth. That is His HUMAN name. But what is His eternal name for an eternity before the world was even made? Exactly. No man knows it.

But English speakers say Jesus, and they know Him (apparently, more than you) and have experienced His power through that name.
And Jesus Himself even taught to call the Father … “Father”. Not “YHWH” or some variation of all of Gods beautiful, double-jointed names. FATEHR is the only name Jesus encouraged us to use … and it is the only one that is clearly of a RELATIONSHIP and a KNOWING of Him. So, you can rattle on the Hebrew names if you wish. We know Him.
Worst thing about all this, Hebrew is not even a holy language. NOE language on earth is “holy”. The first tiem we even read about the language is it called the:
Isaiah 19v18 In that day shall five cities in the land of Egypt speak the LANGUAGE OF CANAAN, and swear to the LORD of hosts; one shall be called, The city of destruction.
… and everyone already knows that Canaan was a pagan land. How then, is Hebrew a “holy language”?
Why do Gentiles always imagine vain things?

      Greetings,
It's not everyday that I read a response where the vast majority of what's written is something I already agree with, yet strangely, I see it's written more as a rebuttal to counter what I had previously written. I actually had to read it again. It seems that you took the liberty to divide my post into a number of (we'll call them "points") points, points which were never intended. I am not sure whether if it was done deliberately or if that's just the way you respond, but in the future, you might want to consider reading the entire comment before writing (it's not my intention to accuse you, I'm only curious), or if you did read it, perhaps giving it a little time to consider the what was written before responding. For instance, my point about looking into the meaning of the name was intended for the purpose of understanding the meaning of the name, NOT to somehow insinuate that unless you read and understand Hebrew you are hopelessly lost or less saved. I am well aware of miracles being done in the name of "Jesus", and I have never had a problem with that. Sometimes, a point that is seemingly simple is just that, simple. To be fair, I do realize that the intention behind what one writes doesn't necessarily equate to what the reader understands that intended meaning to be, so if I have somehow offended you in any point, then I sincerely apologize, as it was and still is not my intention to offend you.
Anyway, I'll try this again. Rather than rewrite from scratch, I'll just reference my previous post. My first "point" of the "i" to "j" was just an FYI, nothing more, nothing less.
The next bit was simply an admission on my part (to which you basically agreed) that no one knows how to pronounce the Father's name. I said "pronunciation system" because the current vowel pointing introduced in the MT is a fairly recent invention (about 1000 years) in history. This doesn't mean that the pronunciation system as offered in the MT doesn't go much further back through history, only that it is a possibility that the Hebrew in Moses' day may have pronounced differently than it is today or even as suggested in the MT. Obviously, this is of very little if any significance to those of us walking the earth today, hence the reason for not focusing too much on them (pronunciation of names). On the other hand, the meanings of the names are very important, as you yourself have already noted that the meaning of "Yeshua" is "Salvation". How do we know that the Messiah's name means Salvation? Because that's what the Hebrew means. The point about transliterated names being labels and having no meanings was intended to be heavily stipulated with the following point that people can and do know the Messiah as "Jesus" (or whatever other variant they may use in their own language). Unfortunately, you divided that into 3 parts when it was intended to be taken as a single, and it seems that as a result, you wrote much more addressing those as 3 separate points than you would have had it been understood as a single point.
I suppose that leaves the last bit where I wrote יהושע, and not ישוע. I wrote יהושע because it is the name given for the Messiah in Zechariah 6,
      11 Then take silver and gold, and make crowns, and set them upon the head of Joshua (יהושע) the son of Josedech, the high priest;
12 And speak unto him, saying, Thus speaketh the LORD of hosts, saying, Behold the man whose name is The BRANCH; and he shall grow up out of his place, and he shall build the temple of the LORD:
However, this was never intended to mean that I am against people using ישוע. In fact, ישוע is used for the same man in Ezra 3 (there are other examples),
8 Now in the second year of their coming unto the house of God at Jerusalem, in the second month, began Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, and Jeshua (ישוע) the son of Jozadak, and the remnant of their brethren the priests and the Levites, and all they that were come out of the captivity unto Jerusalem; and appointed the Levites, from twenty years old and upward, to set forward the work of the house of the LORD.
I'm sure you know this already since you seem to have taken the time to study where the Messiah's name comes from, but the reason why the KJV has "Joshua" and "Jesus", both of which are transliterations from יהושע according to Strong's and Thayer's (the two concordances that I have on me - if there's another one that contradicts this, you can let me know) is because the KJV translators were working with Hebrew for the OT and transliterated יהושע as Joshua (ישוע as Jeshua), and Greek/Latin (not entirely sure which one, only certain it was one of these) and so transliterated Iesous/Iesus as Jesus. In fact, there are references in the KJV book of Acts where Joshua the son of Nun is referred to as Jesus. This is only for informational purposes, and not to make any point.
As for your response, you are correct on the fact that Hebrew words often require context in order to know what the exact meaning is. However, this should not be taken to mean that Hebrew words are void of any original meaning. For example, אלהים (elohim) would more literally mean "power (in the sense of someone having power or authority over another)". However, as you have said, it would need to be in a sentence in order to see whether it means God, gods, idols, judges, etc.
I think you have an interesting view on English, being the perfect language mentioned in Scripture. Although I don't agree, it is nevertheless a valid view and also a possibility, as it's one of those things that's open to interpretation, and will be revealed when the Messiah returns and sets everything in order.
I suppose the last I will address is the claim (perhaps intended as merely being from your point of view) that only in the name of Jesus has miracles been done, and not in the name of Yeshua. My Father in Law is Aramean, speaks Aramean, and is originally from the middle east. He is full of stories of People being miraculously healed of diseases, brought back to life after dying, among other things, all in the name of "Yeshua" (aramaic).
The truth is that it isn't in how one pronounces the name. Even someone with a severe speech impediment can pray and yet, is not turned away because of any mispronunciation. However, none of this negates the fact that the meaning is found in the original language. You made the point that in some cases, going to the hebrew would not serve much purpose due to the wide range of meaning that encompasses Hebrew words, or meanings that simply wouldn't make sense in our language. Also, you wrote in another place that only translators should be doing the translating (not your exact words, I'm using a mobile), but I say there is nothing wrong with going to the Hebrew, and in fact, going to the Hebrew can often help reveal something that was lacking or otherwise missing in the English translation. A good example of this is תורה (Torah), a word translated "law", but more literally means "Teaching".
Also, you said that there is no "sh" sound in Hebrew. I'm sure you were meant to say, Greek, as there is an "sh" sound in Hebrew.
You also made assumptions about me pertaining to my walk, of which you have no idea. And all because I said one needs to go to the original language for the meaning? I think I already addressed this above.
Anyway, all in all, I thought your post was informative. Again, my only advice is, in the future, you might want to at least consider the possibility that the person posting a response to a previous post of yours, is actually NOT trying to attack, undermine, make fun of, belittle, etc. you or anything that you wrote. I pray that the Father guards you (and me) on our walk and guides us into His Truth and to walk out His Word in Love, just as His Messiah walked. Amen.
      Shalom

5:55 - how to pronounce a name? There's a right way, of course. Different languages say the same word differently. Children learning to talk mangle words and names.
*Does a parent ignore a child who says "da-da" instead of "father"? Our Father understands our faltering and hears us anyway. That's divine love. As loving children, we should try to speak as clearly as we can. We learn. We grow.

So do people who speak different languages change your name "Moore" to suit their own pronunciations or language? NO. They will still call you by your name and not try to change it.

  • @colliric

For the record I call Jesus by his English name in my prayers, however sometimes I will use Yeshua. I know several Jews Ive talked with about Jesus and it is easier to use his Aramaic name when talking with them. They get confused sometimes when you use the English form because the anglicization is confusing to them.

    Love it..thanks for this.
I have lived in a household that shuns the name of Jesus but only accept the name Yeshua. It was a very difficult time for me and almost cost me my marriage just because they didn't agree with me that Yeshua and Jesus are one and the same.
    Once again thank you..

The TRUTH - HIS name is YAHshua, ( YAHWEH SENT HIS SALVATION - John 3:16) the Father is YAHweh and the HIGHEST UNIVERSAL EVERY TONGUE and NATION Says by the Holy Spirit Praise for them is Hallelu-YAH !!! (NOT the sound of Jah) and the Prophets and other names also end or start with the CORRECT SOUND OF " YAH" ( NOT - YES which means nothing) and the name Jesus is not greek its SPANISH, does anyone know and Greek men name Jesus... nope..... SO TRUE.... We have to UNLEARN false teachings AND the HOLY SCRIPTURE YAHWEH ONLY SPEAKS THAT HE HAS (ONE NAME - not many - however he has many titles representing his Character - so lets not get it twisted as we have allowed for many years). The Holy Spirit leads us to ALL TRUTH. No compromising. Time to let go of ignorance when the truth comes. Yes, GLORY GLORY HALLELU-YAH !! in PREFACE of many bibles so scribes and scholars confess of REMOVING HIS HOLY NAME - OF WHICH THE SCRIPTURES WARN NOT TO DO IN REVELATIONS, in the Holy Scriptures He say He is Holy therefore, His children are Holy and also He said, THEREFORE MY PEOPLE SHALL KNOW MY NAME (Isaiah 52:6) - (again just ONe Name - so lets get it right finally. No substitutes needed.

The name Jesus sounds like "Hey, Zeus", in Spanish(Zeus is said to be another name for Lucifer). You don't think that would bother you if you were to be seen in public by someone and they were to say "hey Zeus", if you were to be saving them from that person. It's kind of a slap in the face. Also I think it is strange that there are other Hebrew names that were not changed from their original form in the New Testament.

    • @TheDigitalMissionary
      @TheDigitalMissionary ปีที่แล้ว +2

Jesus carries the same meaning as the name Yeshua, which means "salvation" as it is the literal Greek translation of the name. The authors who wrote the New Testament used the name Iesus to refer to Jesus, if they had no problem using a translation of the name of their savior then there's nothing wrong with us calling Yeshua Jesus.

I will now call him Yeshua, if your name was Bob, I’m not going to call you Graham! As it is a name given by GOD it would be disrespectful. Yeshua is a beautiful name and as for those only familiar with the name Jesus, they will ask who is this person I speak of called Yeshua, it’s another chance to witness for salvation.

I really enjoyed the video and the graphics or cinematography was very cool as well. I really love Yeshua because it's truly a great name but of course I recognize him as Jesus, Yeshua, wonderful councillor, Everlasting Father, almighty God, King of Kings, the messiah, and so many more wonderful holy names. Praise God!!!!😀❤️😍

I always use to use the name of "yeshua hamaschiach" (however you spell it) my heart and faith was entrusted on this name for years! i really believed this was my saviours TRUE name. One night, a demon showed up in my room as i was trying to sleep... i spoke out loud for the covering of the blood of "yeshua hamaschiach" and i was ATTACKED! This demon literally pounced on me... i immediately asked for the covering of the blood of Jesus Christ! and GUESS WHAT!? The demon fled.
I decided to test this "yeshua" spirit.... everytime demons came to attack and torment me, i used the name of "yeshua" only to place myself further into danger. Only when i use the name of Jesus do the demons FLEE! Upon further testing the "yeshua" spirit i found that the modern hebrew language was invented around 120 years ago! I also discovered that "yeshu" means "may his name and memory be obliterated". The devil wants nothing more than for us to renounce the name of our messiah! THEY HATE THE NAME OF JESUS! Be AWARE! Study and research DILIGENTLY!
Also the name "yeshua" played backwards sounds very muh like "i wish you hate" ... RESEARCH RESEARCH RESEARCH
