    Camera work: good
    Length of video: bare minimum
    Explanations: precise enough.
    This video is an example for every DIY videomaker out there. Videos are for short, precise explanations, not for chatting.
    Thank you very much!

      Brian Sweeting you're part of the reason TH-cam is as toxic as it is. Tell you what, if you don't think someone's joke do one or more of the following: don't laugh. Don't read the comment section, jokes that are 0.001% as tasteful are easy to find there. I had another but I realized you would probably report me. You don't have to like someone's humor, but there's less less than no need to be a laugh police officer.

    Process of oxidation by elektrolysis. Beautiful!

    • @axionbuster
      @axionbuster 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      The rusting of iron (Fe), or the production of ferric oxide [Fe2O3] in the presence of oxygen begins with the transfer of electrons from solid iron (Fe) to oxygen (O). This process is fascinated in the presence of water (H2O). Table salt is mostly made up of sodium and chloride ions, when the impurities are ignored. These inert ions catalyze the rusting by accelerating the transfer of electrons.
      Oxidation is the process of donating electrons, and reduction is the process of accepting electrons. Oxygen, being placed to the very right of the periodic table, acts as a oxidizing agent, or forces the other reactant to oxidize. When iron oxidizes to form ferric (Fe3+), the oxygen ionizes to form oxide (O2+) and combines with the ferric. The resulting ionic compound is a charge-neutral mixture of ferric and oxide, or ferric oxide [Fe2O3].
      ---
      Ionic solid is a kind of solid matter composed of ions (charged particles from atoms) placed in a strict order that maximizes the attraction and minimizes the repulsion between themselves that come from their charged nature. However, upon contacting water, these charged particles become attracted to the water molecules, so they lose their solid identity altogether. That is, in water, they are just a solution of positive and negative ions, no more and no less. When the water dries up, the solid will reform as the ions come together.
      Pure sodium chloride (NaCl), when dissolved into a water solution, will create chloride (Cl-) and sodium (Na+). If you will, the salt is indeed *decomposed* by hydration (solvation by water). If you draw up the chemical formula, you'll see that it's formally going through decomposition. However, when water dries up, the original table salt forms again. And this process can be repeated forever.
      ---
      Chemical reactions are one-liner descriptions of a chemical change. However, due to energetic reasons, reactions typically don't happen as just described. Instead, any actual reaction can go through multiple steps producing intermediate products and reactants and products again. The series of the reactions that a principal reaction goes through is called its mechanism.
      Study found that when iron (Fe) rusts in aerobic conditions, the water actually decomposes to form hydroxide (OH-) as part of the mechanism. However, this is neither the reactant nor the product of the overall reaction of rusting.

      @@mrrictus Won't work for this process. You need a stencil with areas to be etched clear through the material. Transparencies work for photoetching but where you need to push current through from the anode to the surface to be etched you need no material or a silk screen type mask or vinyl.
