I fish braid on 90 % of my reels varying from 20 pound to 50 pound with 30 or 40 pound the most. Where i live in South Africa the structure is mostly heavy so light line will not work. The only real downside is that i check the braid for nicks after each fishing session and loose some from time time. However, there is nothing like feeling braid gives you. Love it. Great video, Tyler.

You should try the Lews kvd 7’4” composite cranking rod for a chatterbait been using it recently caught about 30 on it and have only lost one. The composite rod works really well for chatterbaits keeping them pinned.

Nice vid and I like that you throw the Thunder Cricket as I believe it’s a vastly underrated vibrating jig.
Yeah it definitely would have worked. Problem is, it’s too buoyant. This grass edge was a little too sharp, it needed something that could be variable depth
Question Tyler. I recently got into kayak fishing and im having trouble locating bass in the shallows. Im in the Dallas area and fish lake Ray Hubbard alot. So i moved to deeper water and dont know what im doing wrong that i cannot find bass. Or even seem to get a nibble. Im casting Lipless crankbaits, and texas rig plastics.
Go fish smaller lakes. Ray Hubbard has one of the lowest bass populations per acre in the city, and 99% of them live on rock. If you’re fishing anything other than rip rap, retaining walls, or natural rock, you’re wasting your time for the most part.
Go fish Alvarado, Arlington, benbrook, or squaw creek
Or Bonham, bois D Arc, crocket, coffee mill. Big city lakes are tough during the summer

just got a Shimano Currado DC 200 XG , what rod should i get with it? also. i fish ponds and from the banks mostly, primary fishing styles will be jigs, vibration jigs, ploppers, and frogs / texas rigs. any recomendations is welcomed , i also picked up 50lb braid, and 20lb fluro for the reel not sure which to throw on it yet haha

I only have 3 rods and I have only a 20lbs fluorocarbon for moving baits 65lbs braid for flipping and pitching and my top water and I have a 20lbs braided rod for wackys and light stuff. I pretty much only throw heavy line and my friends make fun of me because there max line weight is like 15 😂
