“I’ll be honest I can’t tell a difference. I think it was worth it.” Lol thanks for your honesty bro. Now I feel confident throwing my backspacer in knowing it’s not difficult to take apart. Thanks!
I’ve been putting skiff bearings on all my knives lately. On knives with already good actions, it doesn’t make much difference. They really helped my older Civivis and other budget knives.
Do you know if the skiff bearings would fit on a Spyderco smock? Love the action on it and heard ppl say that they got bearings from Kevin Smock and it greatly improves the action of the knife
I wouldn't replace them just to replace them, but if I were missing a ball, I'd absolutely upgrade if I could. Thanks for showing this. I can't wait to see what you do to your own 20.5. I've been jelly of everything I've seen so far. Haven't customized anything yet, but your stuff has me considering it. Happy Holidays!
This is the one knife I noticed a difference with skiffs with side to side . I ve never noticed a smoothness difference either . When it comes to similar lock mechanisms the civivi fg works better for me .
Just replaced mine, lockup is noticeably better and it is definitely smoother. I've heard people say that they couldn't tell a difference, that's mind boggling to me.
No problem! I usually try the Metal Complex centering method first, if that doesn't work I'll take it apart and clean the pivot pin, steel inserts and bearings(might have some gunk that throws off centering).🙂
Ordered a set earlier.. Unfortunately shows - 3 in stock so I guess I'll be waiting a while..my orange/DLC AD20.5 will be be here Monday! Seems like I am the only person who doesn't lube bearing knives..I find them smoother for longer without oil.
Have you tried them without any oil? I feel like i get better action when using ball bearings dry. Some people say that they don't need any oil and can actually make the action worse. (Washers are different of course)
My apologies, here you go🙂 www.skiffmadeblades.com/collections/bearings/products/copy-of-cage-bearings-pivot-1-4-br-ceramic-bearings-2mm-11-ball?variant=39525945737305
I haven't seen or heard of anyone doing this... but if someone wanted their AD20.5 to be a little bit more bullet-proof / apocalypse ready, could you conceivably put two phosphor bronze washers stacked on either side of the blade to match the thickness of the bearings? Am I crazy for thinking of this?
@@KnathansKnives Sweet, if you do, I'm subscribed now to see if it works. I think I'm leaning toward getting one, but I'm wondering if the action would still be slick enough with a phosphor bronze option (I bet it would). I love the design of the shark lock, but I like overbuilt, and PB feels like it would be better in that regard.
Has anyone noticed the finish on recessed bearing surface of the liners is horrible. My liners were uneven and could see where the balls are not making even contact all the way around.

😂😂 I said that huh, making no sense.
I'll work on my speaking skils😁
Thank you for making great knife parts!
🤜🤛😁
This knife is highly customizable, but these bearings are probably the best change you can make to it. Sure glad I did mine.
I agree! 😁
Great tip about the liner fitment, I have definitely had those issues before

I'm not sure, I'd have to look into it🤔
@@beeochg4 yeah, I put some in my smocks too. The size 3/16 pivot, 1/16 ball with 11 ball bearings fit perfectly
@@hityoutwo Awesome thanks man, really appreciate it.

No problem.🙂
More than likely I'll use G-Carta for mine.
I hope you create some MODS yourself soon and Happy Holidays to you as well😁
Very cool upgrade! I may do this to mine. Great video 👍
Thank you! It's definitely more solid feeling🙂
Nice work. Action is definitely smooth. 🙂✌️❤️

True, you definitely worded it better then me in this video😁
I'm with you on the Vision FG locking mechanism🙂
those bearings give it a better detent I cant wait to get a shark lock.

The 3 ad 20.5’s that I have all run like greased lightening but I can see wanting to replace your defective set.
Yeah, love the action on them! Bummed out about the missing ball but it's all good🙂
Just replaced mine, lockup is noticeably better and it is definitely smoother. I've heard people say that they couldn't tell a difference, that's mind boggling to me.
Nice! I didn't notice much at first but after a couple days it's definitely smoother and very stable for side to side movement🙂
ty for the video ! any tips for centering ?

Nice! It looks good with the coated blade.
I'll have to try no oil on one of my knives🤔
I'm with you on that missing bearing bothering you. Even though it wouldn't make much of a difference my OCD brain wouldn't like it
🤜💥🤛
Very nice Brother 🔥🔥🔥

What size bearings did you buy? Sorry the link gave me a 404 error, but I saw that he sells them in different sizes
No worries.
It's 6mm pivot hole, 1mm thickness with 19 ball bearings.
Have you tried them without any oil? I feel like i get better action when using ball bearings dry. Some people say that they don't need any oil and can actually make the action worse. (Washers are different of course)
I haven't tried that but I think I'll give it a go.😁 Appreciate it.
Exactly! I NEVER lube bearing knives, just makes them gritty quickly with carry. Don't lube bearings!
A tiny bit of lube helps with friction
What size are the bearings?
Here's more information🙂

Did notice if your stock bearings free roll? I have heard some say the balls didn't free roll
They free roll🙂
@@KnathansKnives Yeah - one free-rolled all the way to freedom!

That's actually a great idea(I don't think you're crazy), I'll have to look into getting or creating some washers😁

I noticed that on mine as well🤔
