Feige is always finding Diamonds in the rough. The man's skill to recognize transferable talent is legendary. Feige didn't discover Giachino, but he realize what a talent he is and can transfer easily to the MCU...
While still having amusing moments on a subtler scale! My partner and I had such a good laugh at "This End Up" and the carnival haunted house level presentation from Ulysses's corpse. Jack and Ted are also funny in their charming way. It's hilarious as one can ask for without cutting into the tone.
Definitely a breath of fresh air, the cinematography, acting and atmosphere brought this short to life and to bring in more of the supernatural side of the MCU. Keep at this Feige and Disney💯
I love the old buddy/brother vibe of Jack and Ted. I , too, wondered what kind of troubles Ted needed rescuing from. I loved how Ted's demeanor changed when Elsa called him by name.
Even though it's not even an hour long, this special really uses all its time to build up interesting relationships between Jack, Elsa and Ted, I really hope to see more of them. Also, even though the effects are all practical they're just so much more interesting and fun than recent cgi effects. I hope this does well so Marvel will feel rewarded for trying something different
Well, I'm pretty sure ~~Man-Thing~~ Ted is CGI, but he looks great too so I'm not gonna knock that lol. But yeah, I *really* hope they keep Jack's werewolf form as practical in future projects he appears in, it was great.

It honestly reminds me of the Pre Avatar films, which was a decade in which films used VFX as tools rather than 90% of the effects seen.
Ted and Jack are my new favorite duo and love that Elsa fixing her jaws after her head smashed to the wall multiple times, kinda showing her regenerative ability
I’m hoping Blade will start off an experienced monster hunter (specializing in vampires) with 200+ kills who has been working with Whistler but has to learn how to work with Nightstalkers (Elsa could also join them?)
I will point out, the kill number thing might be off. If you recall the mother says all the hunters have X number of confirmed “kills” but Jack has over 100 “deaths.” So they might be implying something else with him
This was a 100% love letter to the Universal Monster movies, and it was awesome. Everything was perfect about that. Ted and Jack need more screen time I love them so much
truly the stars absolutely aligned and the cinematography, acting , the overall aesthetic of the Halloween dark and horror feel was just awesome, it was really great to see more of the supernatural side of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Michael Giacchino truly take a bow cause for his first directorial debut , he did a fantastic job and please Marvel let him do more of this .
This was a great addition to the MCU. The only thing that I think you may have missed is that when they go around the room and tell you how many kills every hunter has. They reference Jacks as Deaths and not kills. This is a subtle change in terminology but was a key early on to the difference between the monster hunters and Jack.
I actually noticed Jack was sniffing all over the place. He mentioned the blood and as soon as he gets into hunting area he starts sniffing. He kinda lowers his head and almost searches with his ears listening. I think these subtle choices are amazing
That transformation was waaaaaay too perfect. It didn’t need to be seen. Was terrifying but had me cheering because of this style. Brought me back to Abbott and Costello times
Werewolf By Night 13, 14, & 15 were my "Gateway" comics back in the fall/Winter of 73. I have always had a soft spot for that character. Really loved the job they did with this.
i agree being a fan of the supernatual lore of marvel as a teen, i loved this special and seeing elsa, ted/manthing, jack and learning about the bloodstone lore
I’m normally not a fan of Horror, but I rather enjoyed this. Marvel needs to do more stylized noir projects like this. Elsa Bloodstone and Ted were definitely my favorite characters. And I definitely feel like this pocket reality is set in 1939, thanks to “Over The Rainbow” playing at the end of the episode. Anyone else laugh at Ulysses being Zoltar’d a la the movie Big? 😂 *Elsa calming Jack…that was definitely a callback to Natasha calming Bruce in AoU.*
This was such a pleasant surprise! I loved the action, drama, the monster designs... everything was gold! If there was any complaint or nitpick, it was over too soon.
My only complaint is that we dont have any more of this to watch at the moment

This was far beyond masterpiece. Everything will connect in future projects for sure. The Bloodstone family has a lot of secrets and its origins is very interesting.
This special was absolutely amazing and is easily my favorite phase 4 project. Can’t wait to see more of the supernatural/monster corner of the MCU, especially from Giacchino!
The "goblin" thing introduced in the beginning was definitely a nod to the original movie vampire, Nosferatu. Notice Jack said he fought it a few times. Throughout history, vampires and werewolves were mortal enemies. I saw Jack's glowing eyes as like the reflection you see in dogs' and wolves' eyes.
I had no idea the connection between Coco and Werewolf by Night when I decided to watch Coco while I waited for 2 AM to roll around to watch werewolf by night. These kinds of weird coincidences happen to me almost all the time. I’m almost not even surprised anymore.
This is definitely an homage to not only The Wolfman and classic Universal monster movies, but also The Beast Must Die. Loved this special and how it pays tribute to the classic monsters and first cinematic universe
and the jack transformation scene is a homage to the monster reveal from the 1940s-1950s in a shadow from afar where we only see the person's watching it and their fright and fear from what theyre seeing :D
Agree with all the praise. Also, the chair dragging also reminded me of Tyrion in one of the Small Counsel meetings, where everyone else was jockeying for position, and then he dragged the chair, noisily to the opposite end of the table, directly facing Tywin.
I thought it was so cute when he walked in circles 3 times like dogs do before sitting when they were in the tombs. It's such a smart choice for this performance by Bernal. The scratch above the ears. So good!! Also, is it just me or is Elsa giving off Jessica Jones vibes? I loved this presentation, the cinematography, the effects, composition, color, design. 🧑🍳💋
Yeah I love horror and superheroe movie. Never thought marvel would actually do werewolf by night. This was a masterpiece and well directed. The score, cinematography, and choreography was incredible. I'm gonna watch this a few times.
Imo, this is by far the best content marvel has put out in Disney plus and we need more of this. We also need this remakes of classic horror movies in this style!

Just watched this special twice and loved every second of it and the gore was a nice touch lol I'm glad they didn't shy too much away from it. Can't wait to see what they do Werewolf by Night going forward and "Ted" and Elsa 😊
The fact they showed this much gore and violence makes me really excited for things like blade and Deadpool 3. I know a lot of people were worried that Disney would make it pg-13 violence but this is pretty solid conformation they will have the same Deadpool 1-2 type violence still for some titles
The cinematography, cast, storyline and mood of this were all sublime. One of my most unexpected favourites from the MCU. I hope we see a lot more in this vein.

I definitely understand that Jack was looking around the room while in the cage to register places to perch, but I also wonder if perhaps any of those other monsters could have been more empathetic as well but were also morphed prematurely by the stone to bring out their bestial nature and hunted

I enjoyed everything about Werewolf By Night, and it was a fun romp that paid tribute to the awesome Universal monster movies. The character of Jovan was played by my good friend Kirk Thatcher!
When i saw the trailer i truly thought it was gonna be like an escape room - with one of the 6 being the werewolf, hiding it from the group, with them all trapped in the house, needing to kill the right person before they themselves die... wouldve been interesting
I would love a video from you guys exploring the most violent deaths and murders in the mcu. Because there are a ton of them. The sword kill in this was gruesome but I feel like we’ve seen worse. Goo splat? Owl eating them? Shield decapitation? Car door decapitation? Mcu has its moments

Michael Giacchino is one of my favorite composers of all time (since Lost). I was beyond ecstatic when I found out he directed this AND turned out to be a really great flick!
I know it wasn’t done on purpose. But the dark circles around Jack Russell’s eyes remind me of Farkas from Skyrim. And that’s cool because they are both werewolves.
I loved that they used parts of the TVA armor and weapons ... its something was done all the time in TV and Movies.. (for example, Ann-Margret's yellow dress from Bye Bye Birdie was reused in an episode of The Monkees)
This show was awesome. I have always liked Man-Thing in the comics and I am glad to see him in the MCU. I also can't wait to see Elsa and Jack in the Midnight Sons.

Wasn't expecting that much carnage. Pleasantly surprised. The black and white probably helped so that they didn't have to tone it down, but if they do another monster movie in color I hope they keep the same violence.
The first room gave me The Haunted Mansion vibes. It reminded me of the round“room” with the portraits at the beginning of the ride (which was an elevator).
The production design, practical effects and cinematography in this special were immaculate. This is exactly what Marvel needs to do more of

It can’t be, the tombstones have death dates that go from the 1800s to the 1980s

When i saw the trailer i truly thought it was gonna be like an escape room - with one of the 6 being the werewolf, hiding it from the group, with them all trapped in the house, needing to kill the right person before they themselves die... wouldve been interesting
For those wondering - the lunar phase on Feb 28, 1961 was a waxing gibbous. There was a full moon two nights later.
Loved that they kept the werewolf look more costume like rather then going all extra cgi and huge body built type.

I would love a video from you guys exploring the most violent deaths and murders in the mcu. Because there are a ton of them. The sword kill in this was gruesome but I feel like we’ve seen worse. Goo splat? Owl eating them? Shield decapitation? Car door decapitation? Mcu has its moments

I assumed Jack's kill count was including humans. Especially considering his surprise to hear that right after.
This really got me in the mood for spooky season. Now to rewatch old monster movies.

It is subtly mentioned earlier that he has over 100 “deaths”, not kills.
I think he is referring to his total body count when he could not control his werewolf side. Monsters + Innocents
He could also have been lying about it, and just wildly overestimated how high his count should be

My favorite Marvel movie or project ever so far since. Photography camera work everything down to the costumes was amazing.
I know it wasn’t done on purpose. But the dark circles around Jack Russell’s eyes remind me of Farkas from Skyrim. And that’s cool because they are both werewolves.
I loved that they used parts of the TVA armor and weapons ... its something was done all the time in TV and Movies.. (for example, Ann-Margret's yellow dress from Bye Bye Birdie was reused in an episode of The Monkees)
This show was awesome. I have always liked Man-Thing in the comics and I am glad to see him in the MCU. I also can't wait to see Elsa and Jack in the Midnight Sons.

You should have mentioned how both cigarette burns happened above characters killed by ManThing. Not just signaling the Act changes.
Wasn't expecting that much carnage. Pleasantly surprised. The black and white probably helped so that they didn't have to tone it down, but if they do another monster movie in color I hope they keep the same violence.

It seems like you missed something. At 7:18 on the left wall, the monster depicted is the comic design of Gorr the God Butcher.
The first room gave me The Haunted Mansion vibes. It reminded me of the round“room” with the portraits at the beginning of the ride (which was an elevator).
This special was so freaking awesome. Loved it 10/10.
