$4 Thrift Store Find! Will It Run? Harbor Freight Central Pneumatic 95275 Compressor

  • I found this small compressor partially disassembled at a Goodwill Outlet store for $4. I plugged it in at the store to test it and (of course) it didn't work. For $4, I was going to buy it anyway and just use the tank as a portable air tank if I couldn't repair the compressor.
    This video shows how I tested it, repaired it and a cheap solution to replace the missing handle.
    Thanks for checking out my video!

    That little square electronic deal you mentioned is indeed a rectifier bridge. The motors in these compressors run on 120v DC @ 4 - 6 Amps they're about a 500-700watt motor. Could be wrong but that's what I've been able to gather.
    Also that rectifier bridge is a common cause of fuses blowing or the breakers popping as they tend to short out and go bad on the AC input side. P/N on that rectifier is typically *KBPC608*

      Do you happen to know what the P?N is for the Reed Valve? I've got one of these and it doesn't build pressure.

    This helped me with wiring. With the reset switch and the main power switch. Disconnect the wires not thinking about taking a picture for when I put it back together SMH. So what I did is watched your video paused at the right time and zoomed in thank you so much

    I have the same compressor. I bought it in July and it had already stopped working. I was about to go spend 60+ dollars on another one when I thought to check out TH-cam to see if there was an easy fix for it. Your video helped immensely. I checked the switch like you did and sure enough, that was the problem. I found a switch identical to the one you used at Lowe’s and thanks to your video, my compressor is working perfectly again. Thanks for saving me 60 bucks!

    Great video. Found mine at the dump. A 5$ switch took it from the trash heap to the tool shed. Really well done and precise.

    Love your show ! I mess with air compressors too. I recently worked on my buddy's wheelhorse tractor ,which needed a new drive belt. It fixed it and he gave me a 1967 kargard 20 gallon floor mount air compressor. I was happy 🙂. Keep up the great work. 👌👌👌👌👌👌👌🤟🏼🤟🏼🤟🏼🤟🏼🤟🏼🤟🏼🤟🏼

    Good job, and I like the rope idea, I found a 3.5hp 3.5gal craftsman oiless compressor in the trash, all it needed was a switch too, and I had to find screws as well, I use it in my work van, for small engines, I've had it and use it all the time for the past 6 years, and over the years I have gotten bigger and bigger compressors for free, just needed a few things to fix em, my pancake one I mentioned, a Buffalo 30gal, 6hp, oiled, a Campbell & Hausfeld 15gal oiless 4.5hp, and a Ingersoll rand 20 gal 6hp beast, and my last a 240volt 60 gal 10hp beast sears and roebuck cast iron dual piston 1977....the best and quickest compressor I've ever owned... And so quiet... All it needed was a good cleaning and the airfilter changed.

    I love it! I have the same compressor and afraid to "dig" into it, and you made it easier for me if repairs are needed! and I believe that I am NUMBER 3 as subscriber! Bring us MORE!

    Chicago Pneumatic and Central Pneumatic tools are often mixed up. Seems it's a very common thing for some reason to be determined at a later date.

    Nice job! I'm the same way, it really is bad how much people waist, toss out items that with a bit of tinkering can be made useful again. I subscribed to the channel so I can see what kind of things you come across...I know I find stuff out in the trash a lot and I'm given stuff because people know I like to tinker with fixing different things...keep up thr good work!

    I had the same problem. The identical switch, HY35C was $20 on amazon. I found one for $4 and it worked.

    It takes about 4 minutes to get to the 100 psi, where it will stop automatically. If it can't get to 100 psi, then you likely have a reed valve that's broke or it has come loose. Easy fix.

    Nice to repair things to avoid the land-fill, or at least see if a simple repair like this. I drive a 1984 M-B diesel car I bought for $400. It had only one main problem which I fixed with my $89 HF wire-welder (first time welding). It served one son well for 10 years from college senior thru medical school and residency, and now me. Here because I'm fixing my larger HF dual-tank air compressor which stopped going above 40 psig..

    Hello Juggernaut, Nice intro and video. I'm glad to be subscriber number 2. I look forward to seeing your future videos. I like to see your mindset of fixing and repairing items. And like that if you cant fix, you are looking to re-purpose items. Keep up the good work.

    Mine works but won’t hold air pressure. How do you check the seals or o ring in between the compressor and tank?

    • @thetinkeringjuggernaut8538
      @thetinkeringjuggernaut8538  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Just look for any fittings on the tank itself and anywhere there are fittings in the pressure regulator. You may need to add some Teflon tape to the fittings to get them to seal.

    • @mikeramsey7693
      @mikeramsey7693 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      The central pneumatic compresses from harbor freight is common for breaking reed valves which will not allow it to hold pressure. 7 bucks later installed new set and runs good as new.

    • @j.m.5995
      @j.m.5995 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Check your fittings or like the other guy said check the reed valve inside the compressor housing it may be broken or dirty allowing air to backffe out of the compressor. I don't think these units have any sort of check valve between the tank and the compressor piston.

    For less than $40.00 you could have bought a brand new one. Just sayin'.

    • @thetinkeringjuggernaut8538
      @thetinkeringjuggernaut8538  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I wouldn't pay $40 for that model personally. I figured I could use it for a portable tank for $4 even if it couldn't be easily repaired.
