Natural teacher. The best teacher of a haircut I have ever seen. I worked in afew different salons when I was younger and good teachers in this industry are very few and far between. It's almost like the majority are trying to make it look more complicated than it is. Thankyou so much. Never forget a good teacher. Wonderful 💋 lady 💕

I followed your tutorial step by step and it turned out fantastic!!! I have just the right length layers and I finally achieved the face-framing layers I was lacking and never quite achieved at the salon. This was so easy to follow and it is seriously the best cut I’ve ever had-and I did it my self!!!❤. Thank you!!!!!!

@@GlamGirlGabi Yes. I used ponytails for both the back and front sections before I overextended the front to soften the front peices and then thinned out the thicker spots with thinning sheers. My hair is ultra thick and wavy so it took a little while to do.

Oh my gosh, thank you so much for this! For the last several years I’ve wanted my hairdressers to cut my hair like this and none of them ever would because it was “never in style.” I used to see a hairdresser for many years and he always would cut my hair in this style and it always looked amazing. He retired about 9 years ago, so I’ve gone that long without being able to have this cut. Going to try doing this myself now since no one ever will for me! Thank you! (Also, as a side note, I started cutting my husband’s hair at the beginning of the pandemic and I finally feel I’ve got some skills to the point that I’m confident enough trying to cut my own. Hopefully, it goes well! 🤞🏻)

Excellent video. I’ve been cutting my own hair since I was about 18 (59 now). I got tired of hairstylists always cutting too much off. I have fine hair. I also colored it myself, blonde.
I did go to a stylist years ago for color because I wanted red, brown and blonde streaks. I went to her for years because she only trimmed about 1/4 of an inch each time. She moved out of state in 2010. Devastating! I stopped coloring (LOVE my gray hair!) and since then I’ve had my hair professionally cut about 6 times, otherwise I do it myself. This video helped me with the front area. Going to try that pulling to one side. I have bangs and want the curve from the bang down to the sides, like in a ‘C’ shape. Thanks for the tutorial. It helps a lot.

Gabi, you look gorgeous ❤The hairstylist I saw a few weeks ago needs some lessons from you. I have fine textured hair and she cut all these short layers (2") over my head. Then she said she had to cut off the back length of my hair to even off what she had done. The only long section left was my bangs and she styled them with a big round brush and it was all puffed out 😬 I am glad I am in Canada and I can pull up my parka hood and hide under it 🤣

The ponytail layer cut actually worked really well for me. So does work for some. I've always had waist length long super thick hair (never cut or layered till my late 20's) i actually liked the diy layered look and got a bunch of compliments. The only thing about it really was that it was difficult to do braids, esp french braid on my hair. But it worked for my face shape and everything.

I don't know why there are not more hair stylists who know what you know in styling hair and I loved watching your hairstylist cut your hair and was so happy to hear your views of starting from the front instead of the back which I've always suggested to my stylists and they always refuse. Now I'm going to insist. thank you so much for all your wonderful videos.

This was incredibly helpful! Thank you! I've been cutting my own hair for years and I didn't know about the angling of you fingers. Which makes complete sense. I've just brought my hair straight up, let a bit fall in the back and cut the rest straight across. I was about 12 when I learned how to cut my own hair. My brother's girlfriend at the time cut his hair and his friends hair. I watched and figured it out. But, I didn't notice the angling of the fingers. Now I understand how to change the depth of my layers. I am definitely giving this a try for my next cut. I think I'll try the angle up for a shag. I'm really looking forward to my next cut now. 😁💖🌺

So... if I pull it more towards nt face when I pull it up, that should give me longer layers? I pretty much already have built in long layers from the vid and losing my hair 3xs. It has finally gotten back to the thickness I am used to. However, that is only abot 4 or 5 inches from the scalp. It get thinner as it goes towards the ends. So I'm thinking to get it to look and feel healthier, some long layers may do the trick.

I’m SO SICK of getting horrible haircuts!!! Haven’t had it cut since April & just wore it up all Summer. Now it’s pretty bad, but it’s curly, so curl often hides a multitude of ills. I really need a cut but am afraid to go anywhere, (will YOU please cut it???) so I took the plunge!! Bought some stylist’s scissors & followed your directions to a tee. We’ll see…my hair is longer than yours & taking off length wasn’t addressed, so it is the same length but the layers are cleaned up. We’ll see what happens when I wash it again and style the curls as usual. Thanks for a GREAT tutorial!!! I’ve never done this, so it took forever just to section off that first front quadrant!😂🤣I know it’s not perfect, but it’s better than it was! Thanks again!!!

Nothing like running your fingers through freshly cut hair! I have cut my own hair many times in my life, got better at it with time but made some big mistakes along the way. For example in high school, every other month, I would trim the ends of my long hair by dumping my hair upside down, brush thoroughly and lightly trimmed the ends parallel to the floor. Then I would stand up, brush my hair into place and trim the ends from side to back. It turned out pretty blunt in the front and uneven layers in the back. Not perfect…but I didn’t have split ends! Lol. Thankfully my wavy texture was very forgiving and disguised the mistakes well. Thanks for this tutorial! I am sticking with my hairdresser, Melody. She is such a great listener and so precise!

During covid out of boredom more than needing the cut I followed the pony tail method. Divide hair in the middle and cut the front towards face. It came out awesome and I have tons of volume with soft waves…then being the perfectionist I am given to details, started trying to even out the tips like how a hairdresser does at the end and messed up an entirely good thing. 😂 but it turned out pretty darn good! I showed to my mom and she wasn’t aware I had experimented. Lol! I think I’ll try it again. To keep, the back is the problem lots of hair and separating hair then evening out things. Maybe I should just clip the very ends and call it a day. Only the dry tip ends.

We used to do the ponytail cut back in the day, but it was a bend over kind of thing, and you could control whether the front was longer or shorter by moving the rubber band back and forth. I called it the "self inflicted shag" as my hair was fairly short. Lately I have done it with my husband's automatic trimmer and it's a lot easier, since my hair is really long now. It works OK in a pinch but I end up with too much distance between the layers for my taste. I am going to watch this a few times and maybe try it. Would love to hear how it works for people!

No love, it's not neurotic- it's called perfectionist. And in my book, that's a great thing! Plus, I'm a Virgo😂...I think I don't have to explain any further 😉
I was becoming more and more desperate because I cannot decide which hairdresser to choose and I almost did that "butterfly cut" on myself, although it didn't have much sense...but, as the saying goes: desperate times call for desperate measures. Or something like that🙄😁
Anyways, I'm more that happy and forever grateful for this video!!!
I'm going to my mum's tomorrow for lunch and I'll ask her to help me.
Definitely there are far less possibilities for it to go wrong than trying that infamous "butterfly butchering".
Thank you, not just for this video, but for every single one.
Beside being a real professional, you are an amazing, beautiful inside and out woman.
I'm so thankful for finding your channel about a year, or a bit longer, ago.
I could write an essay praising you, but I hope you know how wonderful and helpful you are.
I've watched, I think it was the last one, your video where you talked about your grandparents. I was crying as crazy because it was so relatable. And everything else that you've stated in regards to being a content creator...damn, I always knew it was a tough job, but moreover, everything you've said showed what kind of a person you are: honest, real, kind, lovely...as I've said, I could write an essay. Well, I've already done it 😅
I wish you all the best- lots of love, health and tranquillity and I'm sending you the biggest hug!
    Love from Croatia 💙

I put my hand up with the pony tail cut.. sometimes there's just not enough $$$ to go around with the life responsibilities 😢
I know for me personally it's a great cut when I style my hair at home and I love it 💜
    I've used a few choice words when I can't..lol 😱
    Thank you ..great session.
    Stay well 💜🙏🇦🇺

I don’t think I angled my fingers right, and definitely cut the back and the sides of my hair with more layers than it’s supposed to be 😅 (but I wouldn’t mind) And it looks so amazing with my natural wavy hair (even without much styling)! I love it, thank you so much for this tutorial.

If they were really great senior stylists, they were not really that great. I find the majority of hair stylists are not that great. They watch too much social media and think they are worth their crazy prices. They are not.

@@tconcotelli You mean you have never had a stylist be a neurotic psychopath? LOL. I joke about that with my clients all the time. I practically following them to their car with a comb. I've been binging on you since I found you 2 days ago.
Tonight, I had my hair parted in the front. Brushed out. But the length in front can't go any shorter and still be pulled back.
I could cut the sides, but I chickened out. I've cut my own hair for decades I. Between finding a good stylist. But for the next 1.5 yrs I'm letting it grow longer. I don't want the sides shorter than the rest but I do need face framing

    • @GlamGirlGabi
      @GlamGirlGabi  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

On my hair, it is SUPER hard because it is so short. If you have long hair, you can divide it in half at the back and bring it forward. By over-directing the back hair forward, you will get a V shape in the back where it gets longer in the centre of the back. On hair that doesn't come forward like that, it is super tricky. You would have to watch the blunt haircut video and maybe get a friend or family member to do it for you. The link to that cutting video was in the end cards.
