Hi! How do you remove the chrome window trim at the back driver window? 2019 honda crv. It has dent someone dented it and I want to try and fix it or replace it... i dont know exact name of the part. Thanknyou
JD: Your video was a life (and $) saver. I got a kit with all the tools to make the repair expecting to take a few hours, I even ordered the double sided tape from your link. Usually you find complications and what looks like an easy job becomes and ordeal. Unlike you but after seeing your video, I pulled the bottom middle of the molding to separate the non-sliding guide from the 2021 CRV door frame. I was hoping to slide the molding sideways while keeping the guide out. After ungluing the bottom side edge I decided to just try to snap the molding back in. This worked for me, IMHO a miracle, Halleujah! BTW, when this molding first unsnapped, I tried to pound it back in but it didn't work. Two suggestions: do this on a hot day so that the plastic molding is more flexible to avoid cracking it, and start from the bottom to work the guide out first. Thank you! I and could not have done this without your video. I agree, this is a bad design and a money maker for Honda and the dealers.
Thank you sooo much for this video. I was able to repair and place my panel back on! Clips/fasteners that fit 2017 Honda CRV are QT278 by Oautoo Top head size 12mmx15mm Bottom head size 14mm x 20mm Stem length 10mm
2019 CR-V, I can't believe how bad a design the doors are. My passenger side (Australia) both doors have this problem. A lot of the white clips are broken. Lucky to get them on E-bay. Your video has helped a lot.
@@JonnyDIYhorrible design. I went to a clients house to do her makeup one day and she introduced her husband. He told me he’s a designer for Honda. I put my makeup brush down and turned to him and said “now we need to talk about the door panels on the 2020 CR-Vs.” I was being half cheeky but he didn’t think it was funny he was pretty annoyed I said something 😂
You're welcome, happy to help. Thanks for sharing that. It's such a bummer it was designed this way. Really have to be conscious and remember to pull away from high sidewalks or lawns when have passengers getting in and out. Wish they would redesign it so it was flush with bottom of metal door or just all part of door
Good video- only one out there describing the crappy, weak Honda clip holders in the side mouldings. My 2013 is similar with double stick tape and clips that look like they should slide sideways (but break!) I just used 3M or Permatex weather strip adhesive (black) to fix the end of mine.
Do you know what kind of weather strip is on the door that you connected to the panel? I am looking for a replacement for that, but am only finding the kind that goes on the around the whole door frame
Well there's the strip at bottom that goes on the plastic cover and then theres the adhesive tape all around it. Best bet is to call or go into local Honda Dealership parts and service department. Tell them what you need. They can look up part number and order.
My Crz has similar problem except it's rocker panel mouldings, the car is so low that it amazing clips were not designed for clips to give rather than break moulding. I hope epoxy working term, thanks for video
You're welcome. Yes its just cheap poor designing. I really wish they didnt even have those plastic panels and just made the styling from metal. Some good molding trim tape helps a lot too 👍🏻
Yah... isn't working for me. Slides about 3/8“, then stops. What is it hanging up against? Don't wanna just rip the trim panels off, but I've removed those lil Phillips head screws, and still can't get the panel to slide off.... How much force did you have to use til it released and slid off???
would this be similar to the repair on a 2014 crv? I've checked a few places and I see a few others mentioning this problem but the help (outside of this video) is not out there.
It's really a design flaw how it hangs lower than metal part of door. Only way is to somehow prevent your passengers from swinging door wide open onto higher ground above curb. Or usually happens someone opens door, then sits and door now lower and try and pull it shut and rips it off
Sorry don't know part number but some sort of trim clips. If go to dealer they should have them, can at least get part number from them if outrageously overpriced
Hey Jonny do you have an email address so I can send you some pics of this 2009 Chevy Traverse that needs some lower rocker panels on the right side and the part on the door which is called the side trim strip. I am looking for those brand new parts so I can order them online if not go to a junk yard
I dont have any sort of parts catalog program unfortunately. But if you check carparts.com or partsgeek.com should be able to find parts. When you find parts compare pricing with junkyard or salvage yard. Id rather get factory oem parts on things like that 👍
@@cameronmorgan0203 can call dealer and talk to parts department and get a quote for the parts and get the part numbers too. Then can check online compare pricing. Sometimes dealer will even match or come down on pricing when show them online retailer pricing 👍

I havent removed it but most likely its snapped on or glued. Can try popping off with plastic trim tools. Will look at piece later
This saved me hundreds of dollars that the dealer wanted to charge me! Thanks for the clear instructions- you are a lifesaver!

Thank you for this!!! My panel had come clean off, I was able to reattach it in under 5 minutes thanks to you!!

You can also remove the clips without tools by pushing them to the side and then turning them 90 degrees up. They’ll come right out.
Cool thanks, will try that next time 👍

Pro tip remove rubber grommet from door then remove screw in panel to experience the slide off effect

Can lower trim be bought separately ? I rashed mine on a curb
Yes I believe so, not sure about part numbers though. May be worth a trip to your dealer parts department to ask for pricing and or get part number
I need a video on rav4 hybrid 2021. There is a screw I can’t figure out
What does lower body trim do? Is it worth it to install on my '22 Passport? Nice video, btw.
Thank you. On this vehicle its mostly for styling. On some it can help with aerodynamics. If yours didn't come with it I'd leave it stock looking 👍

Is there any way to prevent from ripping it off in the first place?

So you have to wait for the glue to cure for 24 hours before you can apply it back on?
Yes best to wait a day for glue to fully cure 👍
Yeah. I had to order my driver door side. I kicked the edge corner trying to close the door and popped off.
@@Babyviper17 they're such a poor design, piece of crap. Shouldn't have been allowed to make such an easily breakable part.
@@JonnyDIY True. You already everything thing cheaply made.
Does anyone know where I can buy these clips for 2019 crv?
You can get them directly at any Honda Dealership, just go to the service parts department 👍
Is there one for 2012 to 2016 models
Not sure, should be similar process if those have similar bottom door trim/skirts
I just saw VDO and I got problem too. My passenger door seal came off plus can hear wear click click sound when I am driving 😢
