      EDKsurly one day that will happen! I already have an idea of how I could build a module to interface with the apex to make it happen!

    I'm assuming when you go into feed mode that also triggers the skimmer to shutoff? that way it doesn't overflow your skimmer cup due to the water level being too high.

    • @ReefDudes
      @ReefDudes  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Correct, I have apex turn off power to the skimmer when the sump level water rises, or the pump goes into feed mode. Dual safety!

    The new Apex has this feature.

    hey Devan cool vid. where did all your chaeto go? what lights do you have on the DT?

    • @ReefDudes
      @ReefDudes  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      lebon40 i gave away two big bags of cheato and trimmed it back down to a baseball size on the weekend. :). Grows to fast!
      The lights on the display are 4x ecotech XR15 pros.(gen 3)

      @lebon40 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      cool man. I have FW tanks, but am seriously getting the SW bug. I have been doing a ton of research on it. Thinking about converting my 48" x 18" x 21" (tall) into a reef. Lots to consider and research. Your vids are helping with this! Keep it up!

    @serenabowman2214 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    wow that's a bad ass way to do things ☺💪 but if you don't have a appex then there pointless lol

    • @ReefDudes
      @ReefDudes  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well its technical talking to the ecotech reeflink not the apex, you could do it with a weemo smart plug (around $50) and it would just turn the power on or off based on voice commands.

  • @MikeLemming
    @MikeLemming 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    So awesome man! Is the feed mode the only thing you can do with it? Good vid man!

    • @ReefDudes
      @ReefDudes  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Mike Lemming thanks mike! You can also turn the lights on and off however my lights are on the apex so I have only played with the pump side of it so far

    What light settings are you running your radions at?

    • @ReefDudes

      I took the coral lab AB plus schedule and stretched out the ends tomramp it up and down. Total intensity is about 45%.

    Hello, I read a recent article on Cnet about an automated feeder called EcoSmart Live Feeder which can be controller with Alexa to feed your fish using your voice, but I havent been able to find anything online about that feeder, does anyone know about this feeder and where can I find it?

    • @ReefDudes
      @ReefDudes  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hmmm I haven’t seen that yet. Maybe it’s a new upcoming product

  • @BodyworkASMR
    @BodyworkASMR 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    is it possible for alexa to automatically resume schedule after x minutes? sometimes I forget to re-turn things on that would be useful.

    • @ReefDudes
      @ReefDudes  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you have a reeflink you can set the default resume times. Alexa talked to reeflink so it happens automatically based on your reeflink settings

    • @bradsbirds8502
      @bradsbirds8502 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have my filters and pumps running through Alexa enabled smart switches.
      I've not found a way to tell it to turn on in "x" minutes.
      I created a workaround with the smart switches that automatically flip to "on" at the top of each hour in case I forget.
      You also need this in case of power outage. The default will not be "on" when power and Wi-Fi is restored.
      So by scheduling the switch to be turned on at the top of every hour of every day, if I ever lose power or I ever forget that I turned a pump off, I'm covered.

    what up man? any idea if this can be done using google home as well?

    • @ReefDudes
      @ReefDudes  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Google doesnt have a ton of integration with smart home devices yet.. but give it a few months and i'm sure it will be do-able

    • @bradsbirds8502
      @bradsbirds8502 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      JCS Reefing you can make this work with Google home and smart plugs.

  • @jonas2431
    @jonas2431 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    you need the eco tech controller to do this right.

    • @ReefDudes
      @ReefDudes  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Mine is using it, but you could also do something similar whit a smart plug
