I saw an Alitalia Douglas DC 8s front wheel under carriage collapse after landing at Heathrow back in the 60s. No fire emergency vehicles led plane to safety and escape shoots were deployed. Really amazing didn’t have cell phones or digital stuff to record incident in those days and decent cameras were beyond most airplane spotters pocket money.Think I’ve got some B&W negatives from a cheap 35 mm camera somewhere? Great video thanks
Jet Blast & Sand what could that hurt ? ... Looks like a fun place to see aircraft up close BUT, protect those camera lenses and your eyes ! Thanks Dafydd for the video, looks like a fun vacation spot........ I used to walk over and set at the end of the runway in Honolulu and wait for the 4 o'clock 747 non stop from Houston every day when I was based at Alpha Docks, Pearl Harbor.... nice video, stay well and Thank You.
Bye bye hat! Love the mix. Really enjoyed the full speed, real time shots. You can't beat a bit of slo mo , for study, but the real bizz is the thump of the landings! Nice work!!
It’s worth a visit Loz. If you have flight radar 24 then that will Save a lot of hanging around. Failing that just google skiathos arrivals and departures. Enjoy!! ✈️✈️🇬🇷
Flight radar 24 and departures/arrivals on google gives all the times so not much hanging around. I’m sure the days would be long with the lack of traffic these days. Hope we get back to some kind of normality soon Good luck if you go ✈️✈️✈️🤞👍
before covid-19 and before Thomas Cook left us, Fri,Sat and Weds were the days with the most traffic ..It's a small airport though ..but there's an outside cafe there with a monitor showing all the daily arrivals and departures..We'll see how things go next year..THe good things it's so close to town, you just walk there along the port and there are little taverns by the sea where you can sit, eat and watch planes land
Sad times for the aviation and travel industry. With all the planes rapidly being taken out of service is going to have a massive knock on effect for a few years to come
I used to sit and let B-52s land right over my head. There's a spot on a trail near me that I can crawl under and let trains pass right over my head. I love rock 'n' roll. Gee I wonder why I have tinnitus.
I recently purchased a GoPro hero 8 black. It has the super view and records 60fps 4k. It is perfect for these angles. I like to get as many people as I can in the frame when the planes go past, it adds to the excitement. I’ll be in fairford next week filming the B52 s landing over the road and hopefully can do something similar 🤞
More excellent footage again Dafydd, that woman's hat that blew off well in the blast around 5:45 really made me laugh, I wonder if she ever got it back 🤔😂😂👍
@@DafyddPhillips The jets come down with a fair old thump! Not much of a flare there! I've also seen vids showing folks cars being damaged from the blast. One chap left his boot up, nose of the car facing away from the airfield! You can probably guess what happened next 😖 🤦♂️ 😂
I did my recce using google maps also and had the same problem. Maybe they havnt carried out a photo survey on the roads yet?? Thanks for watching, happy you enjoyed 👍
Now there's another place I'd love to visit.
Do it!! ✈️✈️✈️😎👌
@John Bowkett I put it on my bucket list.
nailed it! made me so jealous 🙂
Cheers elwyn 🤞
I'm surprised that stop sign is still standing.
Excellent! Woman with the billowing long dress then showing her knickers was so funny!😆
🤣😂🤣👍👋

Must of been great times in Honolulu ✈️👍
These are always fun to watch from that airport. Thanks, Dafydd.
Thanks David. Enjoyed the place thoroughly ✈️✈️✈️
Amazing footage Dafydd ! I love the way how she's fighting with jet blast , girl in white T-shirt 2:02

Topfelya it’s good until you realise your inhaling toxic fumes and being pelted by bits of stone 😂😂
The stones and fumes are all part of the fun 💨💨✈️🤠🤠

Great video dafydd, amazing, the power of those engines WOW!, great fun👍😀👌
DAF, just Brilliant shots once again. I love that in 2020 folks still hold their phones upright while taking landscape style videos.🤠
Thanks Robert. I often wonder why they do that with their phones also. 🎓😎👍
Wow I’m here at the moment- tempted to go down and experience it; I guess there’s quite a delay between arrivals at the moment though. Great video !

Approximately, how strong is that blast ? (Km/h eventually ?)
in 50 meters range its about 100-250 km/h
Gotta do this one day, are there many arrivals and departures? I know at the moment it might be quiet but looks like a quiet airport any way

I keep expecting to see Bruce Willis on the tarmac shouting "pull up pull up.
I wonder how many of those spectators stand behind diesel trucks sniffing the exhaust, all great for the lungs.
Most probably ✈️💨💨💨😂
Too bad they didn't get any 747s like St Martin does.
The runway isn’t long enough for them and definitely no call for that size plane.
I believe the last KLM 747 has left st Maarten also.
🤣👍...Gone with the Wind
