Either it's the tiredness, or Joe is really different when he's in a guest role. A bit more there, a bit more direct and honest. A pleasure to see it this way. Thank you Lex!
I think it's being interviewed that makes Joe become different. From my perspective I think Joe, rather than being his own self, he is trying to be kind and respectful to be a civilised guest on someone else's podcast.
Both of these guys are great hosts because they ask a question or make a leading comment and then give the guest full rein. It's great to see more into Joe's mind.
@@matthewwilkinson2523 well of course... and I'm sure the 'experience' is gonna be ripped out of the JRE because the employees want to play Hitler and destroy everything his podcast stands for. I genuinely hope people keenly listen to the full interview. Joe's maturity shines through and one understands how he's built himself with a solid foundation. One of the reasons for his success is, as he said, his ruthless self-introspection but IMO also his love for constant struggle. Most of us buckle under pressure or find methods to avoid pain but he's embraced it. And I think in some way or form, all of us not born into wealth appreciate and respect Joe's journey far more and hope to achieve it for ourselves too.

Actually after watching this conversation, which I thoughly enjoyed, it's easy to see that Lex Fridman - a highly accomplished fighter in his own right - is also a real humanitarian. His sensitivity and compassion certainly shows in this interview. I don't know much about him yet but I intend to.
Lex I have never made a comment on social media I'm just a listener. You have that special gift that Joe Rogan does I believe you both are positive people and spread kindness and love and life rewards you. Keep doing what you're doing your success is obvious.
I agree LOL. They were talking about Jamie and how good he is like he wasn’t there. I wonder who was doing the camera controls and the audio during Lex’s podcast
Its what good interviewers should be doing. I see MTV interviews with people asking asinine questions that no one cares for the answers to and they obviously don't give it much forethought. You can tell Lex not only thinks about what questions he wants to ask, but what questions he _needs_ to ask to bring out Joe's personality in a positive way for everyone. Its not easy, which is why its rare, but in a perfect world, every interview would be something like this.
Dear Lex: I discovered your work, your classes and podcast through Joe's and, i have to say thanks to Joe if i ever meet him. Why? Because I have watched you enough now to believe your a really good guy man. Thanks so much for all your content, your helping a 64 year old car builder, audio engineer and retired clergyman keep his mind engaged and looking forward with excitement.
Joe’s dance analogy to having conversations between two persons germinated the idea that for all performance art - martial art, dance, podcast etc - staying in tune with your partner/ opponent and yourself and share that with the world is how love is generated and spread ❤

This CD has three separate relaxation/meditation sessions on it th-cam.com/users/postUgkxzpa8CIfZcihW4Z0F_ja0QF3W9KIatrsq guided by a very pleasant and direct male voice. Unlike so many other products of its type, this CD does not have bad synthesizer music, does not feature a phony or affected style of narration, and does not make any bogus claims to be subliminal or to re-train the brain or any of that balderdash. What you get is 1. a guided meditation for getting into a pleasantly relaxed state of body awareness while taking a stroll (superb for those easing back into a fitness routine slowly after an illness or injury) 2. A nice long breath-awareness relaxation session that if followed diligently can put you into very deep states of full-body relaxation and mental calmness, and 3. a buddhist-inspired meditation session designed to help you develop and maintain feelings of loving kindness toward not just yourself and your friends, but toward people you don't even like. The CD makes no claims to be designed for advanced meditators or for buddhists or hindus/yoga practitioners looking for very deep and esoteric stuff. It is geared more toward the average person who just wants to develop the habit of relaxation and stress relief through natural, healthy means. him, if you happen to be reading this, keep up the good work fella, and I love your accent. I would also like to note that I have never fallen asleep while listening to this product. I would like to kindly suggest to the reviewer who said this CD makes him fall asleep, that he might want to get checked to see if he has a sleep disorder, or if he is simply not setting aside ample time for restful sleep at night. A healthy person getting adequate rest at night should be able to go into deep states of mental relaxation without dozing off, if not all the time, then most of the time.

Their first point on mortality really kicked in for me once I had my daughter. Then, it really got me moving. I don't think I'll live long, have lived very unhealthy for several decades (that's now changed), but it has motivated me to do as much as I can before I pass, for her.

Great podcast! When Jordan Peterson recovers, I'd love nothing more than to have you mediate a conversation between him and Solomon. I've been obsessed with TMT since you had Solomon on your podcast.
I was dead for 13.8 billion years before I was born, it was a great time. In fact it was a much better time than when I came to exist. Why would I fear it?
Fearing death does nothing to stop it from happening. Worry over this inevitability is not only futile but a waste of the short time we have here. “Death smiles at us all. All a man can do is smile back.” - Marcus Aurelius

He's also got a sensitive side which he reveals when you hear him talk about personal and social issues. I always enjoy what he has to say.

Either it's the tiredness, or Joe is really different when he's in a guest role. A bit more there, a bit more direct and honest. A pleasure to see it this way. Thank you Lex!
I think it's being interviewed that makes Joe become different. From my perspective I think Joe, rather than being his own self, he is trying to be kind and respectful to be a civilised guest on someone else's podcast.
agreed, he was more interesting to hear when he was just being him and he was the one being questioned. i enjoyed this.

Both of these guys are great hosts because they ask a question or make a leading comment and then give the guest full rein. It's great to see more into Joe's mind.

One of the very best interviews I've ever seen. Always asking the best questions. Joe was great. Big Thank you to Lex.
My favorite part of all your podcasts is you peeling that “thoughts of mortality” aspect of every guest ... shows you that we have WAY more in common that we’d like to admit from the comedian to the Academic prize winners ... keep crushing it Lex ... much love.
Those who need to listen wont.

Just discovered Lex this week. Such an amazing discovery.
Lex has such a carefully crafted way of asking a question. Brilliant interviewer.
Lex has quickly become am impressive long-form interviewer.

Joe’s dance analogy to having conversations between two persons germinated the idea that for all performance art - martial art, dance, podcast etc - staying in tune with your partner/ opponent and yourself and share that with the world is how love is generated and spread ❤

Hmm
Lex is definitely one of my favorite podcast creators and this episode was one of the ones that have to be in the top 10.
Lex Friedman is a black belt and an MIT commentator. Basically he is the smart version of joe Rogan when he had hair
Lex also plays really awesome on guitar he's very talanted
He’s the android version Roganator T-1000
But he is no comedian and no fighter... You can be a black belt in jiu jitsu and still be a pussy and no fighter (depends on how you got the belt) And Joe is very smart and wise.
Tom Jennings Nailed it! 😂
Lex is direct about guns. He does not own one and he explains why.
Lex must be killing it, 3 sponsors for one video!
thats awsome he had you on. and then you were able to interview him, at his studio, congrats man for bein able to sit down with a person you admire. and have a interview both ways
Maybe because it is so rare, but I love when Rogan goes on other podcasts. People don’t give him credit for how much wisdom he has to bestow
Christopher Magera wisdom of joe rogan. Lol.🤣

He also does Martial Arts. There is a lot of wisdom to be gained from Martial Arts.
It's rare because Rogan is insecure and needs to control the environment.

It's great to see Joe being given ear to, this rare time. We're exceptionally grateful to have a great podcaster in Joe, but the man himself has emotions, ideas, views that need to be brought out. This episode shows the beauty of the art of conversation, the one time when the Superman hangs his cloak & Clark Kent speaks out his mind. Kudos for this one & all the other talks, Lex!
@@robertblake1228 I think you misinterpreted what I'm saying. I know, he gets to talk on his podcast, but this time around, it's him been subjected to the questions & he's answering them from his pov, rather than him being in the interviewer's seat
