To all people saying India still kills Tigers - I am working for a tiger conservation program started by Govt of India for the last 9+ years. India witnesses an increase of 741 tigers within 4 years and houses 70% of the global tiger population. We counted 2967 tigers in India in 2019. Indian Govt is extremely strict in the case of Tigers. Under no circumstances can anyone kill any tiger, the guns given to guards and forest officials are being replaced by tranquilizer guns, except the officials working against the poachers. I know it's not enough since 384 tigers have been killed in the last 10 years, still, there is an 81% drop in poaching in the last 10 years. So actually, the Indian Govt is doing its best to protect tigers.

The coloration of the Tiger is so majestic and cannot be seen in any other animal on the planet* (birds are the exception). They are big and powerful, beautiful and ferocious. The most tigers are found in Bharat (India). Thanks to conservation projects like Save the Tiger to name one. It's India's National Animal too. By the way there's a forest region called Sundarbans that covers part of India and Bangladesh. Tigers (The Royal Bengal) of Sundarbans are safer than anywhere else because of their fearsome reputation. In fact the Sundarbans are one of the most feared woods in the country. Tigers are safe when humans don't interfere much. It's safe to say that even if the population of wild tigers around the world might dwindle (which I certainly wish not), the tigers in Sundarbans will be in safe haven.

They are not pure subspecies (mostly) and cannot participate in zoo breeding programs because of that. This is something that also happens occasionally in Latin America.
Not too long ago someone was caught trying to smuggle a tiger cub into the US through the Mexican border.
Estimated captive tiger (mixed breed, subspecies North American Circus Tiger) in US is 5,000-10,000. Florida and Texas has quite a few, certain states allow permits to keep large exotic animals.

The Asiatic lion used to be prolific throughout the middle east but was sadly hunted until the only remaining population was in India. Also important to note is that Iran happens to have wild populations of Cheetahs.

Lions are built more stiffly than tigers, and there bodies are more compact. They may appear more muscular in the forelimbs, but there striped cousins simply have fur covering there muscles, which consequently are harder to spot. Tigers also have more flexible muscles than their golden cousins - as such, they are blessed with stronger paw-swipes (the deadliest of all big cats) which give them a huge advantage over lions.
Thus said, the so-called “King of the Beasts” (the lion) is not so powerful physically, whether in its forelimbs or back legs. On the other hand, the mighty tiger, being the strongest, most powerful and most dangerous of all big cats as well as all carnivores, is the true King of the Jungle, for it regularly hunts large quarry weighing at well over a ton (907 kg), including gaur and buffalo. Not to mention it is blessed with the strength of thirteen men.

It ran through that deep river water against the current like it wasn't even there. From, its speed, to its maneuverability i was forced at that exact same moment when William Blake wondered, "What immortal hand or eye, could frame thy fearful symmetry."
