In this video, I have given the four major uses of the word Being. BEING is a confusing word. This is because it has multiple functions, including as part of a verb (is being, am being, are being, was being, were being) to describe a behavior or attitude or to show a passive continuous action (is being given); it can be a gerund (being happy is important); it can be a participle (being happy, she smiled at me).

Being prepared indirectly focuses on the person, although who is preparing is hidden.
Getting ready focuses only on the process of food becoming ready.
Moreover, being prepared is formal, whereas getting ready isn't.
