Ah! That chrome pen is brilliant. I need one in every color! Mint, yellow, Alpine blue, red, white, iridescent brown/gold/dark blue (popular color on 30's automobiles). I'm naming different varieties, the first three for the 1950's and yes the early 1930's, and then the mid 30's iridescent fad which many a' folks adored, absolutely gorgeous automobiles such as Oldsmobiles in iridescent red, or General motor taxis in Manhattan that had metallic ice green bodies, with shimmery gold roofs.
What a superb transformation. I know that it's only a toy but, it's toys like this that deserves a second lease of life and you have certainly done that. Simply wonderful.
Dude, your work deserves far more followers. "Holy smokazoid" is worth ten followers by itself! Can't really tell about the outside noise because I have the exact same thing here while I'm watching this.
I use JB-WELD alot on restoring old toys as well.. Something you might want to try is soldering the broken parts like this.. Just make sure you get a good hight temp iron so it flows good.. You would be suprised at how good it works too.. Good Job on the truck came out very nice..
Invest in a sand blasting booth. It makes work quicker and easier. Auto body hammers are also a plus restoring little project like yours. Steel wool helps resurfacing the metal after sand blasting and sanding. Invest in a powder coat kit. Powder coating is easy and economical and quicker. "Your project turned out great!"
Cathy Benson I was going for a restoration. The original was not painted underneath. Anyone who knows about these old toys would think it looked strange painted.
Testor's paint just isn't what it used to be IMO, especially when used on metals. I restored a Hubley #509 diecast Corvette not long ago and used Testor's to try to match the red. It just did not act right compared to Krylon, Rustoleum, etc. It would pull up if I tried to mask etc. I gave it days to dry before masking. I get better results with the big can brands. I also bake at 110° between coats and get good results. I use Testors for painting grills and small areas, never for a main coat again, never! If you get an airbrush, get a gravity feed instead of a siphon type. Siphon's literally suck for these applications.
Got one just like it, painted mine John Deere Green. Great show.👍

Thanks for the kind words!
What is the name of the book that you use?
Here is a link to it: amzn.to/2JLDKrl
Great restoration. If you wanted a lighter orange why didn't you get paint you could add white too?
I did not have an airbrush when I recorded this. I used a rattle can.
What Zann Q said. pop that hammer in white vinegar for 24 hr. and take a wire brush to it.
Another thing you might want to try on the tires is shoe polish..
If you can't remove the paint by acid you use there, boiling water with a spoon of caustic soda is the solution.
the body has a big twist that you ignored
Why didn't you paint underneath, too? It looks like the job is incomplete. 👎👎🇦🇺

Ok. Fair enough. Sorry.

Like your work, I dont like your natural audio as it distracts from your narrative.
Agree. I don’t use that anymore.
I liked the restoration but not the nature sounds.
Thanks for the feedback!
Don't Speak!
