I never thought of it that way. I noticed his mannerisms on this show was the same he used for his character on One on One. Sherman Hemsley did the same with George Jefferson on the Jeffersons and Deacon Frye on Amen.

I loved this show when I was younger. The set looks familiar. I loved the mom had lox’s, their dad lives with them, they are a caring family, and all the music references

probably one of the best episodes they made or top 5 this show mad underrated wasn't as famous as Martin & fresh prince but this show got good morales & funny too TK & Zaria was perfect 👌🏾💯

I get chivalry and all, I'm all for it, but there is also such a thing as equality in a relationship, the girl should not be treated better in the relationship for any reason, the relationship is about equals, so the girl should know that as much as she gets treated by the guy, she should treat him too, whether it's asking to pay for dinner and inevitably being denied by the guy bc he has chivalry and offers to pay himself, or in other ways that she could, bc for him to even bring it up, then there is no way that she even tries to treat him back with equal love and respect, unless he is just unappreciative then that would just be on him. And I'm a girl btw, who believes in feminism, the idea that girls should get equal treatment as men, not fighting for superior treatment for women against men.

I remember when I used to watch this episode back in the day I would always laugh at the way T.K. was like "Yo D!" lol.
I think he gave good advice about the guys girlfriend paying for the dates,but the execution could have been more well thought out. Instead of saying make her pay he should have said I think you should talk to her about the fairness in the relationship. He should have encouraged him to talk things out with her not just act arrogant and rude. I agree with TK, I think women should also pay for dates. Or they could go Dutch. In the beginning the guy does a lot to win the woman over. It’s not just about buying her things, it’s the thought that counts. A good old fashioned picnic and movie in the park can be a great date. As the couple grow together I think they should always support each other. It’s ok to buy him something too. It’s not always about pleasing the woman.

It's been going on forever sadly dating back to What's Happening. Haywood Nelson was the only one who was actually in high school at the time. Stacy Dash seemed to always play a high school girl on many things. The cast of Clueless (the TV series) were all in their 20s. But, we did have some people their age playing high schoolers. Regina King was in high school playing a high schooler on 227. Kyla Pratt, Sicily, and Richard Ri'card were in high school during their time on One on One.
Reagan Gomez-Preston (Zaria) and Tyrone D. Burton (TK) were actually teenagers on this show. Just like most teen actors in the 90's. They started to change it up by having people in their 20s playing teenagers in the 2000s

That advice at the end was BAD! She should have asked him if she was ready to have sex instead of assuming... And "keeping it real" most teens aren't going to wait for 3 to 4 years of dating to have sex unless they're planning to get married right after high school. So they pretty much ended the show with a gynocentric perspective making the male look like he lacks insight because he gave bad advice one time vs. showing their unity in perspective as opposite genders. They could have built on the radio show segment in the script to tackling teen male and female issues in a funny way. This is how a lot of shows in the 90s subtly programmed false social constructs about gender and race. The rest of the show was hilarious though!
