The Story Behind Building my $50 Acura Integra

  • Buying this Integra for $50 was one of the best deals I've ever had.
When I first saw the DB8 Integra in the parking lot, I knew I wanted to build a 4 door Integra at some point.
This particular Acura Integra was in rough shape when I found it. It was automatic, blown engine, nasty tan interior, 243k miles, front end damage, and rear end damage.
The car was in rough shape. The process of finding parts and building the car is what I truly enjoy doing.
Once the seller agreed to the $50, I did not hesitate to grab the GSR blades off of my green 2 door Integra and bring them to the mall parking lot.
Now i needed to find a way to bring the car to my house. So i had a friend drive my rhd Integra and flat tow me all the way to the house haha. Once we got to the house we bagan pulling out as much damage as we could from the rear end.
I bought a headgasket and timing kit to see if maybe the motor would be ok. But after taking it apart and seeing the valve marks on the pistons heads, i didnt have much hope for this motor. But I still put it all together just to see, and sure enough it didnt build compression..
I knew I was going to need a rear end, so I found a part out and grabbed a new trunk and cut off the rear end of a rusty GSR Integra sedan. Now I had most of the body parts needed to fix the car, but I still wanted it to run before I did body work.
So during winter break, I drove my Integra Coupe 5 hours north to visit family. And while i was there, my brother and i went to a junk yard and found a Honda CRV with body damage. I spun the motor by hand to verify 4 compression strokes.
I bought the 200k mile B20z motor for $200 and put it in the hatch of the Integra.
I also needed to find a manual trans, so I ended up finding one in another junkyard and pulled it for another $200. Its so sad to see these cars get scrapped ..
On new years eve we pulled out the motor and trans that was in the green integra and swapped in the junkyard crv b20 and the junk yard trans. Why did we do this? Because junk yard parts only have a 30 warranty, and I wanted to make sure they worked before I drove 5 hours back down to school.
So once i get back, i pulled out the blown b18 and auto trans from the integra sedan and sell it off as parts. Then i pulled the junkyard b20 and trans from the green integra and drop it into the sedan.
Once i finished manual swapping the car and installing all of the accessories, it was time for its first test drive. And it went well!
One thing that always bothered my about Integra's were the circle headlights. I sold my usdm front end and I bought a JDM Integra front off of my brother. Then we welded up the core support and it looked like a whole different car.
I have always wanted to figure out a 5 lug swap that doesnt cost over 1k. So i gathered parts I thought would work and I was able to make the Integra 5 lug! I had 300zx wheel temporarily until i picked up one of my favorite 90s wheel, Enkei RS, 2 piece. The car was coming along really well, I also picked up a JDM Integra Type R lip.
At this point, ive had the car for 1 years and have loved the progress, especially for this to be the side project. I was simultaneously welding tubs and RB25det swapping my 240sx, and repairing my RHD Integra, which Ill have to make another story video about haha.
Next I needed to update the suspension, it was old and worn. Stance coils, Voodoo control arms, and Function 7 subframe brace, 32mm Integra Type R sway bar. Now the car was driving and handling great.
So i needed to do some body work. The quarter panels were in rough shape, luckily not from rust, but just from dings and dents and the side swipe. So I welded some gaps and filled in some low spots. Then spray painted the car blue. Ideally i wanted to paint it nicely, but it wasnt in the budget, maybe in the future.
Just gotta work with what you have and make the most of it, youll be surprised how much you can accomplish when you set your mind to an end goal

Over here in the UK, you’ll find half decent cars with a damaged quarter go to scrap because people just don’t want to spend effort cutting and welding…I love how you go to the lengths you do, cutting whole chunks of cars off and replacing them just for the wanting to keep a car going.
Your inspiring and one of my favourite channels to date! Keep doing what your doing, sending big love from the UK 🤙🏼

4/5 cars I currently own are all cars that were between £200-£500 and were about to be sent to scrap by their previous owner. Each one I've taken the engine out and gave it a refresh, cleaned or painted the engine bay, stripped suspension parts and subframes, gave them a fresh coat of paint, undercoated underneath the car with new bushings, tidied up the exterior and interior and added some aftermarket parts to make it my own... It's a lot of work, but if you can can do it yourself, you can do it on a budget.
Each time I was done, I contacted the old owner on WhatsApp and sent them pictures of how their old car now looks. So much waste in the UK... Everyone just wants to finance a new car every year.

My daily Astra I bought nearly 5 years ago now for £600, it’s not a show pony but it’s a hoot to drive, I’ve spent money over the years replacing things that needed doing, I’m at the point now where most of the Achilles heels are sorted so should last me a while. My other half keeps nagging me to get rid but I have absolutely no desire to. It’s fun to drive (200bhp/360ftlb) it’s cheap on diesel, it’s comfy, well specced and I don’t mind throwing crap in the boot. Totally unnecessary to get rid of!

Love this story. My sisters integra just had the same issue where the timing belt teeth sheared off and left us stranded in a parking lot. We didn’t realize this was the problem and tried many other things, cranking it over and bump starting it. Finally I saw that the cams weren’t spinning and we towed it home. Put a belt on it last Friday and it started right up. B series are something else.

Man have to appreciate the hard work you put in, purple grey on the 95 180sx is similar to that Honda colour. Same as my first 180 I had in 99.

Couple of incar vids of both on my channel if you want to have a look, nothing fancy and the 180 was just 2 shake downs then the oil pump failed

Its sad to see soo many integras being trashed out there. Here every integra is a gem even if its just for parts. They didnt sold here basically and theres only a couple of them. Now they are being imported for tons o cash 😂.
