Old trip, never posted. Dredging up what we can while the camping ban is in effect here. Not a thrilling outing but when you're forced to stay home, it seems like a dream trip.
Something is better than nothing. Thanks for posting Jon, I think a lot of us need it right now. I loved the shot of the grouse and whatever that moth thing is lol
I hope things start to get better there for you. I will stay out of the whys and whats and just hope things get better. You remind me of me thirty years ago with a play ground that makes mine look like a school yard. Keep your head up you two!!
you my friend are a very fortunate man. Erin does not shirk away from all the cutting of log jam's while you maintain the balance of the canoe. So welcomed a trip where you both share the load. Cheers Bill
Sometimes in the right spot the little creeks can be even more beautiful than the bigger rivers! I think you captured that perfectly here. Thanks for sharing.
Perfect Spring trip Jon, although it would be much better this year 😢 I’d take this right about now too! Hopefully we here some good news soon! Thanks for taking us along guys! 🇨🇦
Nice. Really needed this, without a proper nature fix these days. If you wanted to do a kitchen/dehydrate video, I'd love to get your yummy recipes. Glad to share mine too for what that's worth.
Nice even if it is a one you didn’t post earlier. Thank you for the respite from inside four walls. As an observation; it is time for the two of you to switch positions in the canoe. Hope the stay at home quarantine is over soon.
Where to start !!?! K so, the butterflies and the wildlife, big thank you! Love when you take the drone out, just the right amount of time, loved it.. Erin lol ya had your life jacket on for hrs even on shore lmao, Died. ;) That was a crazy creek adventure for sure. Loved it all 🤘
Really enjoyed the butterfly footage. The first half of the vid remnded me of the old Dad joke, what's brown and sticky. A stick. Thanks for all the great footage, it is perfect for the just before bed relaxing and mind settling routine.
That was amazing. Don’t think I’ve ever seen water quite that colour. Was almost a golden colour. Quite the workout getting there though. Thanks as always for this.😘Great capture of surrounding nature.
Thanks for posting this! It’s pretty sad to think of you cooped up there, waiting out another camping ban. I hope Ontario gets things under control soon (not just because of the camping ban, obviously). On a different note, maybe when Erin is finished school you should celebrate with a Nahanni trip and cross that off her bucket list - you’re more than welcome over here on this side of the country, y’know!
It was a fine adventure to me! lol Nice camping spot, too bad the owner of all that poop didn't come for an evening or morning visit. haha! Thanks for sharing. :)
Nice spot!!! I like the Marathon area. I myself am from Northeastern Ontario (Temiskaming Shores area) but I love camping trips like this one!! Awesome video
@@canadiangirl8368 nice! I've been here most of my life. I grew up in Haileybury, moved to Sudbury for 4 years (2001-2005) to do my post-secondary education, then moved back in this area and have been living in New Liskeard since. I love going to Temagami and fishing on all of the beautiful lakes this area has to offer. Also I'm an avid hiker and forager so I'm in my element in the surrounding old growth forests.
Been binge watching alot of your videos this week so im new to the channel but getting to see lakes and terrain like this is amazing being in the UK we have nothing really like this.... Plus love the energy you two have when you're on trips its inspiring ✌️
Hate to say it Jon, it looks like Erin is working her tail off on this trip sawing logs and paddling hard. I envision you drinking a beer while she saws through all those trees😂😂. Muddy water, no fun fishing in it. Love you guys.
Great trip, good luck with your new venture Jon I’m sure you’ll have great success. Managed to talk myself out of a little day paddle today don’t know why or how??. Tipped in back in November wondering if it’s knocked my confidence for solo paddling.?
We have been in lockdown since December in the UK, I haven't seen my family since July last year, it is indeed hard but there is light at the end of the tunnel. Thanks for the extra video!
I can't believe all the dead trees and vegetation. It's getting worst every year! Blame it on chemtrails or global warming? Your really working for your money in this video. Great show!
At my place of work we have to book holidays months in advance, so I have this week off to go camping...not :( Oh well,I went for a nice hike at Luther Marsh the other day when the weather was nice. Great shot of the Ruffed Grouse and Spotted Sandpider. I need to order one of those awesome looking hoodies! Thanks for posting this video I could almost smell the evening air.
4:45 did I just witness a moth pee?? And Jono.... you can go ahead and not describe the poop next time haha. I read someone else's comment about taking peace and quiet for granted. I don't know if it's the lockdown but the sounds in this video were just killing me! So beautiful... babbling brooks and distant birds! Made me want to be there so much. At any rate it was relaxing to watch and listen to. Very nice!
Hahaha let's hope it was just pee. Moose poop is beautiful, especially when it's glistening. It's an acquired taste, you'll get it. So true, this is so precious when you can't have it
@Lost Lakes , its obvious you more than know what you are doing. However, since the creek waters are brown from the soil / minerals , how can you drink water / eat fish from that environment ?
Purely by estimation lol. I should be a lot more scientific with it. But if anything, a good 1.5c of dry food per person per meal. Savvy people get sensitive scales and measure the food in grams.
How do you deal with the soot and creosote on your cookware when you pack it away each day during an outing? Doesn't it rub off on anything it comes in contact with in the pack?
Superb cinematography as always. That looked like a great spot for a camp too, my guess is it's a flood plain when in spate as that's a tight bend in the creek. I'm not keen on hammocks but I do quite like the look of yours, sadly not enough trees in 'Rohan' for me to warrant one :) Keep safe, hope they lift the ban soon and life returns to...actually not normal, but better than the old normal.
Looks like a fun trip and it looks like the weather was in your favor. Did you or Erin catch any fish? I love your drone footage, it really shows what a beautiful country you live in. Cheers my friend.
Excellent video!! I recently watched your video about your fishing set up and promptly ordered the Scotty rod holders. They arrived today... woohooo!!! What hat do you normally wear on your trips? Is it a Tilley hat?
I can't believe your luck with the lock down and Erin's car engine . My wife Beth said you should have taken a leave of absence but that my not have been an option for you. Anyway Great video as always . I do love my Amok 5.0 thanks to you Jon.
I was curious about your dehydrating; did you find a good book on the subj or google? I'm surprised the local moose didn't make an appearance. And what's the scoop on that water, I kept expecting to see mud dripping off your paddles.
Seeing all that moose poop around the campsite gave me an idea. Not sure if you've thought about this but have you pondered getting a trail camera to leave up over night so you can see any critters outside your tent/hammock?
Came down the Swede form Alberta Lk around 1972. Me, my dad, my brother Grant and Uncle Eli. Zig zaggy creek on lower end. Dont remember that many log jams though. Prospecting. Hunting. Fishing.
Awesome! We were hoping to get farther upriver...nice looking valley on the topo. Who knows, maybe we turned around at the final logjam and it would've been clear sailing after heheh
You said you have been doing a lot of dehydrating food. Why not do a video of that? The process, what works, what does not. What tastes good and what does not, when rehydrated? I think this is just as important as gear. Thank you for the videos and best of luck for the season.
My first thought when I saw the colour of that water and you fishing was...not gonna happen. So, was that tannin in the water or silt...or....both? Pretty cool trip though. Thanks Jon and Erin. 🙂👍🚣
That little lady is a work horse, she’s a great hand to have around. Need to do a little research on which fishing lures you will need when going on a trip, evidently you didn’t have the right lures, wud have starved if you were gonna catch your food Enjoyed video Congratulations
23:12 You mentioned "Amok XL, your 6'4", I am also, and nothing is worse to purchase something and not comfortable with it due to my size. Seems like your supper comfortable with the Amok. Also are you using the 15' or 16' Prospector - Thanks Jon!
I just did a fly in to lake Kabinakigami ( pine portage lodge ) , out of Wawa . I’m edging closer to attempting to do what you’re doing. I discovered my google maps worked out there which has given me more confidence. Maybe a false confidence. But it worked well . I took the boat to the north east corner of the lake , got out of the boat and hiked the river with my pole . Incredible walleye fishing. If I was allowed to do that, you must be in the back country by now .

Will be tripping with my wife in two weeks in the boundary waters in Minnesota, US. Sorry to hear about the ban in Canada.
Doesn't matter to me I love old videos. I thought wow there's no snow, now I get it 😁 l love the grain in Erin's paddle.

That was really nice. A neat little fix for you guys I’m sure.
Even the old ones are welcome. I’ve never noticed Erins paddle before with the beautiful grain on it.
I thought the same thing about her paddle
The beautiful, hard working Erin! Such a fantastic work ethic.
Another good one guys, no surprise to see all the moose activity, they love that red alder dogwood. Stay safe guys! Look forward to the next one...
Clearly an activity that doesn't promote community spread. Thanks and nice to see you both out there.
