    thanks for the info! just got these headlights and couldnt figure out the turn signal. how did you do the headlight bulbs?

    • @esqu3l3to
      @esqu3l3to  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I removed the two torx screws located at the top then slid the headlight forward as far as it could go to give me just enough room to remoce the oem HID buld and place the new Morimoto ones. Passenger is a lot easier than the drivers but still doable without removing the bumber and lights.

      They are w5w or t10. You can get them on ebay or amazon. You can get them in amber color which is what I used or white. What year is your gti?

    Did you have to change a light switch for the city lights to come on

    • @esqu3l3to
      @esqu3l3to  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      No I did not. With the factory headlight switch, all the lights were on or off - those were the only two selectable ways. I did install a euro-swith and wired it to control all my lights including fog lights without low beams.

    Are the blue led bulbs for the park lights, T10 bulbs?

    • @esqu3l3to

      They are T10 actually.

      BTW, stay away from blue, red, purple, or any other color other than white or amber. I had issues with cops because they were blue. Not sure about where you live but just an FYI.

      Unfortunetly this mk6 gti isnt one of them. The only set I've got to work without issues pr resistors are the front turn signals.

    Does your check light come on after turning them on?

    • @esqu3l3to
      @esqu3l3to  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      +moneyupkj - yes it does, I have the vag com dingle and was able to remove that error but it comes back after I turn off the car then back on. I did search for a long code to be able remove that completely so I will try that later.

      +Danny PhantomVision - no I don't havr the ling code. I will be contacting vag com for some help as I have seen numerous posts about it but they don't really specify. I rather ot take my chances and screw up my car.

    Just a reminder: In EU led bulbs must be road use approved. Unapproved ones will be cause of fail in yearly vehicle inspection.

    • @esqu3l3to
      @esqu3l3to  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Jari Granroth I didn't know that, not entirely sure here in Canada but shops will verify that all lights are in working order regardless of type. I could be wrong though.

    • @jarigranroth6873

    I'm about to change all lights in my GTI to LED. I can't believe VW still uses incandescent bulbs in their cars. I just ordered Golf R LED tail lights from China for $200 on aliexpress.com. Next I'll put LED tail lights on my 2015 Jetta TDI as soon as they come out.

    • @esqu3l3to
      @esqu3l3to  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +DJPelio I agree, GTI should have LED lights all around. I am looking for some rear LED as well. Let me know how the lights turn out.

    • @djp1234
      @djp1234 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Just installed the lights. They look good. I'm getting a bulb error, so I'll have to add resistors. I tried VCDS, but there's no way to get rid of the bulb error.

    • @esqu3l3to
      @esqu3l3to  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Right on man, ya I can't get rid of the error codes on mine either. I will leave mine without resistors. Let me know how that goes.

    • @esqu3l3to

      +Cynthia Lung It does require you to clear codes, however I do have the ross-tech cable and I have cleared it but keeps coming back on after each time I turn my lights on. I will keep searching to see if maybe I need to clear the codes a different way.

    Why not show the low beam Xenon bulb replacement? Those idiot German design engineers must think everyone has Hobbit hands. It's a real _____.

    • @esqu3l3to
      @esqu3l3to  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Im actually going to replace the oem bi-xenon bulbs in the next week. I was able to access the passenger side easly, driver will be harder. Yes I do have hobbit hands which helps haha.

    • @TheAirsoftPlayer1
      @TheAirsoftPlayer1 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Germans design every piece for a reason. if you look at the OEM bulb holder from the passenger side you can see slit cutouts in the holder that lets you pivot the the LIP of the headlight housing (where the rubber cap goes over) and itll pivot perfectly out on the driver side. DUE NOTE remove negetive terminal and remove fuse box cover to give perfect room. I have huge hands I removed it the PROPER way and took no more than 5 mins for the driver side. hardest part is creating enough force to turn the bulb inside the housing with my cobber hands.
      I guess the answer just on a form isnt enough maybe a youtube video to spread this knowledge? everyone says how hard the drivers is but funny is passenger and drivers was equally the same if done right
