What is your favorite Halo memory? I'll start... Returning from college to my hometown one summer, reunited with old friends for an epic gaming night. We stayed up all night playing Halo splitscreen multiplayer. Pizza. Mountain Dew. Accusations of "screen looking" and tons of laughter. Gaming with the boys hit different back then...
The endless hours me and my friends spent playing though the campaigns of the bungie games. Bungie made a phenominon which to me was unlike any other gaming experience. To this day i still play the original games and still feel lucky to experience them
I remember so many great online games played with a good buddy in high school. We’d go over to his house and play for hours. CtF, BTB, and Swat. So many memories in his room with his dog Duke hanging out with us.

Hearing this threw me straight back to 2004, Release day of Halo 2 (where the theme for this piece - Unforgotten - was first featured) is burned into my mind forever. So many great memories playing together with my mates, 4 XBoxes hooked to old CRT TVs, racing in splitscreen teams to co-op through the campaign. I remember waiting for Frankie's updates on the old bungie blog, the old Bungie team all felt like our friends too. Some of us have passed away, most have grown apart in life, but I'll always cherish those days. Gaming and the Internet have changed. Wake me. When you need me.
I was born in 2004 but still had the experience of playing Halo CE, 2, and 3 on their respective launch consoles. CE on the original XBOX was something else. I can barely remember that controller now. I mostly played COD, Halo, Zelda, Mario, and Minecraft in those early years. I sunk an untold number of hours into those games. I can't even imagine it now.
I played Halo, but it wasn't my game of choice. One day, me and my best friends were playing against each other, and during our match I grabbed a Banshee. I was a complete noob; didnt know the controls to save my life. I had it for maybe 10 seconds and accidentally ejected myself out. I landed right next to my friend and started firing out him, when out of nowhere my Banshee landed on him, crushing him. I kept the recording, but forgot about it when i sold my 360, losing all proof of it happening. I'll never forget that moment.

My childhood wasn’t terrible, but I lived in a broken home with divorced parents. I would constantly be afraid of the power being shut off and I would find myself sitting outside my mom’s room wondering what I could do to make her stop crying. My brother took out his stress on me and I would run away from home more than once. My dad is a great man, but due to the legal system siding with moms, he only got to see me every other weekend. I bring all this up because the only time I felt peace was when I played Halo or listened to the OST from the games. I still find peace playing Halo and listening to the game’s OSTs. I also met my best friends on Halo 3.
Never forget is by far my favorite Halo theme, I can hardly listen to it without weeping, it's so heavy, but so beautiful, so many memories... You made my day sir, thank you
This song marked an end of an era. (Partially because I stopped playing Halo then and also the reviews for the next games lol). If they had left it there with the story unknown it would still be one of the greatest game series ever. Oh, also good guitar playing.
I remember playing halo three with my twin for the very first time; being mostly pissed that I, was in fact, not getting to play master chief and instead playing as the arbiter, but it was probably the closest ive ever felt to my twin, staying up past bed time trying to save the world while eating the whole house down hahahahhahaha
Loved playing halo reach, 1, 2, 3 and 4 with all my siblings as I grew up. From when i was 10 up to when i was 14 years old I played with my 5 siblings (their ages varied from 23-8) at different times over the years. Either 1 on 1 or all together over those 4 years. Core memories i will NEVER forget. Thank you for letting me remember those happy moments ♥️🙂
A tune from a time I consider to be among the _best_ _days_ _of_ my life.... The golden age of video games - a time when life felt so much more simple.
First booting up Halo 2 as a kid on my mums original Xbox. Never played the online like the rest of you guys did... But Halo means so damn much to me. The first game I ever played that made me give a damn about the story, made me realise that characters mean something in a narrative... And during the darker bits of my childhood it was partly my investment in these games that kept a smile on my face, to this day Halo is without a doubt my favourite IP and always will be for the memories of playing Reach firefight 'round my mates house, discussing the Halo 2 story with my brother while between homes... My love for this series goes beyond words, one of the few things I feel comfortable crying about-
17 years old when 3 released. The memories and friends for life I have made through that game, man....and here I am now with 2 kids and engaged to the love of my life. Halo is something that will always be a part of my life. I've been there since 01 with CE and the original Xbox with the Duke controller. This was beauty played, buddy. Thank you🫡
I've said this a hundred times and I'll say it a thousand more: Halo (Bungie only) has the best OST of all videogames, and one of the best of multimedia in general. The games are amazing, and they were so innovative in many ways at the time, absolute masterpieces, but the music, wow. By itself, it narrates the journey of a hero, an epic, yet melancholic one. With the games, it becomes *your* journey, which to many of us, who played it for the first time being kids, meant a lot. I know Halo shaped my taste for stories, games and music. But it did not stop there, as I know it shaped a part of my character, and I learnt many things from it, such as: - If you find difficulties in the way, that's the right track, you have to keep pushing. - No matter the odds, you can turn them with a good plan, faith and maybe a little bit of help. - It's not about what you *say* you can do, but what you really do. And my old time favorite: "Don't make a girl a promise if you know you can't keep it". Not one favorite memory, but a lifetime remembering the Chief and the Noble team, knowing damn well I took a part of them and have it with me. I know it's not that complex or perfect of a story, but that's not the important part. When I was a kid, it was *my story*, and it had the best music it could. I know I'm not the only one, so I salute you, Spartan.
Watching the Halo 3 trailers over and over and over back in 2007 as a high schooler. Playing all night with my brothers. Back when things were easier. Playing with some of the best dudes I have ever met back in the infancy of xbox live on Halo 2. Spending hours finding new super jumps and breaking out of maps. Playing ranked team doubles trying to get to that ever elusive level 40 lol. Playing Swat with some of my best friends on the MCC and just absolutely snoozing enemy teams left and right. Pre ordering Halo 3 Forge. Everything Forge. Playing the original ‘Infection’ game type where you had to manually change your team when you got killed by the ‘zombie/ infected’ player with the sword. Halo 2 campaign remastered. Absolute legendary masterpiece. I could honestly go on for legitimately hours lol. That line is cliche and overused but I sincerely mean it. I have been playing Halo since the original CE demo dropped. In face I still have the original CE demo on my laptop right now. Playable, no native controller support and looking like trash. But damn does it take me back. I have several 10’s of thousands of hours of gameplay in across all Halo’s and could speak for almost just as long about all of it. Damn. Time flies. Now im married with a 8 month old in a house with a career… Id never change what I have for the world. Ever. But every now and then, part of me wishes to go back. To experience The Flood for the very first time again?!?! Are you kidding me?? What I wouldn’t give for that experience again. To hear Chief say “Sir, finishing this fight” for the first time again?!?! To hear Cortana say “unfortunately for us both, I like crazy for the first time again?!?! What I would give to go back to all of that. To a simpler time again. But thats the problem. I cant. And I never will be able to. But, I can give that to my son. I can give him the simple times. Where all he has to worry about is enjoying life and making friends and maybe playing a game with his dear old dad. If I can give him the firsts that I wish I could go back and have, thats the next best thing. Damn man. I didn’t think Id get into all of this commenting on here lol. I completely forgot what the original question was by now🤣. Cheers guys
2001 I was 10 years old. My uncle just got it and was talking to his friends on the phone and bragging about how he beat it on legendary. I waited til he left for vacation that night and played it all night long.
This brings up so many memories... I was so young, so foolish to think it would last. Now that Im older I can only look back with fondness and tears in my eyes. We had it so good back then.
I miss my XboxLive buddies from 2008-2010, especially that drug addict from Florida who helped me get to rank 45 in ranked doubles. He's probably dead or in prison by now. May we play Halo again one day Qballisballin
Holy freakin cow that was soooo amazing! One of my all time favorites! This song strikes at my center, bro- soooo many good memories playing H2 and H3!
This was the song I had in mind when I saw the title of this video. Absolutely beautiful. These games mean so much to me, and the music is a gigantic part of that. Tears. ❤
My favorite memory for Halo was when my buddys and I were doing the vidmaster challenge in H3, the final level Halo where NOBODY can die and you each ride the ghosts till the end. But right before the final cutscene, my friends Xbox got the red ring of death, and our 6 hours spent was completely wasted! We were literally in mid-air about to hit the trigger and the screen went black. I've never raged so hard before 😂
I'm speechless. All I can say is.. thank you. I don't know how this ended up in my feed, but this was a burst of old memories I've not thought of in so long.❤
Brother your guitar playing sounds amazing, but I just have to say I came from your halo theme song video from two years ago to this one and you look like a whole new man. Looking and sounding good brother, keep up the good work!
This song, and honestly the opening song to Halo Wars "Spirit of Fire" are the ones that get me every time. Hell, I even miss the opening to Halo 4 at this point.
Damn it is so faithful and yet so fresh. I love it when you cover Halo music. I would guess the slow pieces lend themselves better to the guitar. There's a few more I am thinking of... anyway, thanks for the music !!
They just don't make video games like they used to, and especially the soundtracks. The golden era was really from 1999 to 2010. Beginning with Age Of Empires 2 and ending with Halo: Reach. We still get some AAA gems nowadays, but they are few and far between. The AA and Indie market is where you find the games worth playing today. BTW this was an amazing rendition.
while I still may be in my teens, this song hit me with so much nostalgia from when I watched my father and older brothers playing this game, I'm so sad I missed the golden days of halo because those games are truly the greatest
i remember being 9-10 just staring at the title screen listening to this on repeat and man it would always move me to tears. i dont know why still dont other than its just a beautiful piece of music. and damn did you play perfectly
I remember playing H3 on my 120 inch projector screen in the dark. Sometimes I would just sit there and let the music play on the home screens over and over again-like I was watching a movie knowing this was the last Halo game series I would play all the way to hardcore. Great story with great music!
Favorite halo memory …playing the very first one with my dad. Start to finish, we spent the entire day playing the campaign. That really sets the bar as a father.
It's not Halo, but a couple days ago I got kicked out of my gaming group of almost 5 years. The reasons don't matter and I'm trying to move past it with grace, but this video reminded me that I'll probably never again have a game night like the ones I had with them. No more late night talks, no more shootin the shit, no more out-of-pocket conversations with people I knew by voice and gamertag. You've made a beautiful rendition of a song that pulls at heartstrings and summons tears, and I applaud you for that.
That is beautiful! I am a heretic as I never finished Halo but I appreciate a lovely, emotive, tune when I hear one :) For me I suppose the equivalent, as a Guild Wars 2 player, is "Fear Not This Night" sung by Asja Kadric. It's the closing song of the main story and even now it still brings tears to my eyes. I think, as others have noted in the comments about this Halo piece, it is because, somehow, Fear Not This Night takes me back to the loss of a loved one.
Beautiful piece. I'll be honest, i don't know much about the halo franchise music other than the main theme, but I could feel so much emotions through your playing. thanks a lot
The song reminds me of when i had friends to talk to and play Xbox live with every day. You can still do that but back when it was halo 2 or 3 or even reach, it was totally different. They were the best of times. Halo really was one of the best games that brought people together.
This piece brings back strong memories of visiting my nan in a hospice, where I became friends with a kid visiting his mom, he was always there. I took my Xbox in and used to play with him in the rec room. After my nan passed, I left him with my Xbox and a copy of Halo 3. The hospice later called to return it a few days later. Poor kiddo.
This sounded fantastic, well done man. I never got to play halo3 till 2010. never had a 360 till much later but we had an OG XBOX and by bloody oaf did we play the shit of halo 2 on that :D. Me and my brothers, every day after school for years would just play halo 2 multiplayer and campaign offline, trying to get out of the maps and exploring every possible inch we could find. Playing with the big soccer ball after spending hours trying to get the banshee through that checkpoint (you know, That one) and then wielding the scarab gun, That was so much fun. Exploring Delta Halo was also just as epic. What a time it was.
This always makes me think of my best friend and I beating Reach on legendary together and just sitting there destroyed after how powerful that ending is. Looking back at that will forever be one of the most impactful times I've ever had with a game. Never forget
Ahhh man this takes me back!! Me and my 2 best friends would play slayer until the sun came up. I remember watching my friend playing the campaign on a little 19 inch HD ready monitor when a banshee explodes. He turned to me and said "That's why I love halo" and I've been hooked ever since, TANK BEATS EVERYTHING
this is amazing. I grew up on Halo. I was a freshman in high school when halo 2 came out and made some great friends. when halo 3 came out, Cody and I was the Best Duo team that I've ever been apart of, we would consistently get 20 and 30 unalivings every game. but a year out of high school, he developed a brain tumor, he didnt have the strength to play anymore. its been 14 years since I lost my duo partner. he never got to play Halo4,Halo5 or Halo Infinite. so I urge everyone that has a squad, no matter the game you play, tell them how much you appreciate them and make as many memories with them as you can cause you never know when you might not hear from them again.
I've never played any Halo game. That said, many years ago i was going on a road trip with 2 friends to go to one of their weddings and I was his best man. The other friend brought along a CD copy of the Halo OST. We played in for a few half the trip. Fast forward about 5 years, I had boughten the OST from iTunes, and I loved "Unforgotten". My dad died at home, and my mom and I were numb even though we knew he was going to die soon due to health reasons. The guys who remove a corpse from a home (I dont remember their title) had just left a few minutes earlier, when I turned on my pc and played a custom playlist of soft music. This was the first song to come on. From that time on, any time I listen to music to go to sleep or to relax, this song is on the playlist somewhere and I almost always have a memory of my dad before he died.

But it did not stop there, as I know it shaped a part of my character, and I learnt many things from it, such as:
- If you find difficulties in the way, that's the right track, you have to keep pushing.
I know I'm not the only one, so I salute you, Spartan.
some halo OST stand out, but its far from the best. skyrim and souls, the witcher too, the fields of ard skellige is unmatched.
Pre ordering Halo 3
Forge.
I grew up playing Combat Evolved and playing the others with friends on their systems. Halo will always hold a special place in my heart
Loved hearing you play this live my dude. Captivating performance. 🙏
I could listen to this, along with your other Halo song, for hours. Thank you for sharing this with us. It's a masterpiece.
I've never raged so hard before 😂
man, just the nostalgia of simpler times. less responsibility, less pressure, less fear. thank you for this.
Will always be one of my favorite tracks!
Probably this one and the ODST Rain music. They really nailed the atmosphere in ODST with you tracking through the city at night away from your squad.
So beautiful! I don't know how you always arrange and perform music that just makes my heart ache!! Thanks, Nathan!
What a treat mate, beautiful. Happily bought to support you and this may be one of the few fingerstyle songs I'll be able to play!
Halo CE, Halo 2, Halo 3 and Halo Reach got me through an awful lot. Thanks for the memories, Chief.
Under Cover of Night is my favourite from Halo.
Riding the Banshee with that music, always gives me goosebumps.
PS: Well played.
I'm speechless. All I can say is.. thank you. I don't know how this ended up in my feed, but this was a burst of old memories I've not thought of in so long.❤
You certainly got a tear out of me.
Reminds me of better, simpler times with the old lads.
Brother your guitar playing sounds amazing, but I just have to say I came from your halo theme song video from two years ago to this one and you look like a whole new man. Looking and sounding good brother, keep up the good work!
You got me. I cried
Most of my buddies from then still talk luckily. God those were some good times together
This song, and honestly the opening song to Halo Wars "Spirit of Fire" are the ones that get me every time.
Hell, I even miss the opening to Halo 4 at this point.
Looking back, not knowing that those were going to be the best years of my life thus far. 35 now... Blessed that I grew up in such an epic era.
Damn this hits hard
🫡
What an emotional song… beautifully arranged, Nathan 👍🏻
Appreciate you
So beautiful Nathan, totally took me back! Thank you!!
Man this brought back so many memories from my childhood. The shit you find on a friday night on youtube scrolling the algorithm
Chills. Instant, full body chills. Thank you for this
All of the halo music makes me have the feels, especially the first 3. Nostalgic, good times..
while I still may be in my teens, this song hit me with so much nostalgia from when I watched my father and older brothers playing this game, I'm so sad I missed the golden days of halo because those games are truly the greatest
the goosebumps i just got are unmatched bro... so sad i can never relive the first time again.
i remember being 9-10 just staring at the title screen listening to this on repeat and man it would always move me to tears. i dont know why still dont other than its just a beautiful piece of music. and damn did you play perfectly
I remember playing H3 on my 120 inch projector screen in the dark. Sometimes I would just sit there and let the music play on the home screens over and over again-like I was watching a movie knowing this was the last Halo game series I would play all the way to hardcore. Great story with great music!
That Halo music will live with me forever for the rest of my life and instantly take me back to the days of playing hours and hours of Halo 3.
When I reconnect with old friends I haven't talked to in 10 years, they always bring up our Halo nights. They're immortal. They're legendary.
Favorite halo memory …playing the very first one with my dad. Start to finish, we spent the entire day playing the campaign. That really sets the bar as a father.
Bro the precision and the timing is excellent. Well done
Really gorgeous playing. Thanks for doing it justice
Never Forget. Probably my favorite score of all of the Halo songs
Poor kiddo.
It did. It really did. Takes me back. Thank you brother
Accurate title. Fuck I miss my friends and really just being young and carefree. You don't know you're in the best of times while you're living them.
Played this at my dad’s funeral. Song has a huge impact on me.
How dare you open the vault to my feelings and memories!!!!!!!😢
I'm not crying...you're crying!
This piece was always my favorite.
The best game and soundtrack to ever exist! This song is pure nostalgia! Thanks for sharing!
This always makes me think of my best friend and I beating Reach on legendary together and just sitting there destroyed after how powerful that ending is. Looking back at that will forever be one of the most impactful times I've ever had with a game. Never forget
Oh man this makes me feel things. Beautiful rendition man. 🙌
Perfect title *sniff* Brings back awesome memories of late nights in college playing halo 2.
“I wish there was a way to know you were in the good old days, before you actually left them.”
The halo2 menu is that constant reminder that you'll never cram 12 people in a room to fight over a flag ever again. And it makes us cry.
You gotta put this on Spotify. I’m begging you man.
this is amazing. I grew up on Halo. I was a freshman in high school when halo 2 came out and made some great friends. when halo 3 came out, Cody and I was the Best Duo team that I've ever been apart of, we would consistently get 20 and 30 unalivings every game. but a year out of high school, he developed a brain tumor, he didnt have the strength to play anymore. its been 14 years since I lost my duo partner. he never got to play Halo4,Halo5 or Halo Infinite. so I urge everyone that has a squad, no matter the game you play, tell them how much you appreciate them and make as many memories with them as you can cause you never know when you might not hear from them again.
awesome, soul-filled cover
All those moments will be lost in time , like tears in the rain
I'm glad I'm not the only one to experience these feelings 😢
I love the piano version and now that I’ve found the guitar version wow. I want to sync the two up 😂. Amazing job
Holy s***. Sounds even more epic on a classical guitar
