Hi Lyle, I am a german native speaker and a regular on your channel. Here is my feedback: The voice of the german AI is terrible, but it gets most of the technical stuff right. Still, some translations are strange. Having done service on Fenders myself, I can interpret what the AI is talking about. For example in the video "Get It Right & Dial It In | Not Earl '65 Twin Reverb" at 4:28 the AI translates "Fender" with the german word for "front bumper" of a car. My take: For people having an idea of the insides of an amp chassis it is a good feature, for people that are not familiar with working on amps, it might be hard to understand what the individual talking points are.

I´m an argentinian DIYer. Recently saw your No Earl '65 Twin Reverb and listened in Spanish. The tone of the voice is like a 17 year old guy. The translation is not really accurate, specially in the specific terms, but, it would be helpful for someone who doesn´t understand English. But...
Actually, to not understand English is what made me (and many many other people) to try to translate what we wanted to know, beeing song lyrics, videogames, or whatever.
To have it translated automatically, may be making a bunch of lazier people. But, anyway, for having the necessary information "in time" it may be ok.

I'm also located in Germany but I say, why not combine learning a little about electronics (guitarist here…) with brushing up one's English.
Big fan of your channel - very comforting voice and there's something contemplative listening to someone who actually knows what he's talking about. So, congratulations, Sir, and thanks for your good work!
I wonder whether it would be possible to get a list of the different changes you have been suggesting to different amps across a multitude of vids.
Just bought a 68 Custom Pro Reverb and would like a tech to do at least some modifications. For obvious reasons, it would not be feasible to send the amp all the way to you…

@@PsionicAudio : I agree with the colleague. To be fair: The AI is translating exactly word by word respecting the german grammar - and that's the first issue, its not translating the context. Technical terminologie is often different so you get weird expressions e.g. in german a bumper is a "Stoßfänger" - if I translate it back word by word it becomes an "impact catcher". If you're not familiar to this topic it's hard to follow. Second issue: the AI Voice is free of emotion - you do not get sarcasm, cynicism etc.
      Thanks for the great content

Hi Lyle, regarding the translation topic; I'm from the Netherlands, so I'm proficient in English enough to understand what you're saying.
I didn't find the AI translation option to Dutch in the menu of this vid, but I gladly try out some other vids of you to test the quality.
Anyway, I have a completely off-topic question... Recently I bought a Revv D20 amp and my eye also fell on a DGT 15 PRS amp.
Could you please give me your thoughts on these amplifiers from a service/technical point of view? There are plenty of reviews on YT
everything about these amps in terms of sound, but none of them tell us anything about build quality. I am addressing you with this question because I like your "no-nonsense" approach to these matters and I'm not faint hearted about critical views. ;-)
Thanks in advance for your response.

I watched your part two video a couple of times now and I don’t really see the mod that takes the hiss out, which is my main concern. I was going to have a tech up here in Milwaukee do it for me. What’s the best way to contact you and do you take mail in repairs? Say if I just sent you the chassis. I’m interested in finding out pricing on it also. Thanks Wilbur Smith.

I can't find the setting allowing me to listen to you in la langue de Molière (native French speaker here). I'm not that impatient, however, because Molière didn't write about filter caps, and it shows. Translations for the subtitles have existed for a long time, and they simply don't work when it comes to technical terms. In Mesa SimulClass 295 Pt 2 for instance, we have "filter cap" translated as "capuchon de filtre", something like "hood of filter". "Carbon comps" → "composants en carbone" → "components in carbon". In fact, all colloquial terms are misunderstood, while the rest is ok. I think it would actually be better for non-English speakers to watch the video with the original audio and translated subtitles, because when a strange term appears on the screen, they can compare with the audio and at least get a grasp of the real word by its sound. With translated audio, this reference disappears completely.

So you’re saying the Molière version is a farce?

    • @JzuHax
      @JzuHax ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา

@@PsionicAudio I'm always up for a good farce, be it meat of theatre. Unfortunately, this is neither, and only a bit weird. If the translation engine is the same for the spoken translation, the French version lacks the colloquialism and jargon any specialized video would need. Same for German: I just spotted Filterkappe in German instead of Filterkondensator, and it would be correct _in another context._

Lyle and all content creators, be VERY careful when approached by strange engineers offering free "gifts" for your channel like language translation to widen exposure of your channel to larger audiences or even $x00,000 figure payments to "mine" your content. Giving a large company permission to ingest your content to "help" you is allowing them to ingest your content into AI engines to train algorithms that could eventually be used to generate COMPETING content that will take viewers AWAY from you by just "flooding the zone with *@)#." In Britain, the govt is so desparate to help Britsh tech firms gain a foothold in AI they are proposing legislation that will DEFAULT to allowing companies to mine public social media content for AI training UNLESS each creator explicitly opts OUT of having their content used. The only thing more difficult than PROVING you sent an opt out letter to such a firm would be proving they used your content anyway despite your written objection.

And even when they do offer opt-out, sometimes it doesn't even opt you out of all of them. (Squarespace, for example.)

Just watched the SimulClass Pt3 in "AI German". It translated "a dollar fifty" to "150" when you were talking about the price of some Orange Drops Caps (which are translated to orange droplets)
Voice itself sounds unmotivated and constantly surprised when talking about literally anything it mentioned in the same sentence.
Since I have to rewatch the video in English to make sure AI really didn't do more oopsies, there is no point in listening OR believing the AI.
It may be OK as a written translation, but in its current state its neither helpful nor exciting to listen to.
Your subtleties and your choice of words (in your original version), for me, are a reminder to not just listen, but to listen well, and always think twice, measure once, and a second time to make sure, before having a solid opinion.
Its a healthy mindset to have as a technical interested person, I think.
AI translations do not really convey your great character and knowledge. 5.5/10, the number oopsie was a bummer. Not really sure I want more of that AI translations.
