Someone needs to make a video for "How to shoot a friends wedding solo" for that techy person who owns a decent camera and is asked by a close friend to film their wedding who cannot afford a professional. What's the most basic equipment needed and most basic things you want to catch to make a 5-8 minute video.

Thank you, Parker - love all the advice. Relationships between others on different aspects of the visual teams does make for a better end product package for the couples. There are a number of women videographers who also have some great work and ideas - videography is fun because it's always evolving.

I got some Inspo from watching your video even though I've been shooting weddings for over 15yrs, its always great to learn new things and tips from others. For me I rarely include real audio outside of vows & speeches in my highlight videos, so I found some inspiration from you on this, as I agree it did sound way more engaging to hear some of the ambiance. Great video mate.

I shot my second wedding video a few days ago. Third coming up in less than a month and I just realized how much I actually need to work on... wow. I definitely need to make a few more purchases too. I am using the Sony A7III with the 24-70mm Gmaster lens. I could really use a 70-200mm because I want to be respectful of the guests and not get in the way of their viewing. I also have no audio equipment. I shot every clip in 120fps. I’m stuck on the slow motion train.. I definitely need to try new methods!

Excellent video, been scanning the net for information on this. I see so many wedding shooters that really offer a mediocre job, can't even get the exposure right, but this video explains not the basics but how to get that pro feel. Exactly what i have been looking for, all the things you mention are spot on. Only thing that will be difficult to include as i am just starting on events is a second shooter, most people money is a sensitive topic. So might have to build a reputation first before including this. Cheer for the info.

Such good insight here. Just filmed a wedding where literally all of these points kicked me in the butt. 1 shooter, no time to hook up lavs, photographer in damn near everyone of my shots, and the groom wanted nothing to do with me. Lol tough one to say the least but this inspires me to come back strong for my next one. Thanks for the inspiration.
