We heard that the Knysna Forest Marathon could be South Africa's most beautiful race, so we ran it to find out for ourselves #running #marathon #southafrica
this will be my first coming July. People have told me that I have chosen the toughest route for a first marathon but so be it. Looking forward to it. Nice video and happy running.
Yeah it's not the easiest route. Save yourself for the end as there's a massive climb that caught us quite off guard. But, it's really the most beautiful race. Dress warmly!
Seriously missing watching your adventures. So I literally just entered for 2021, thinking I should have watched your video first. How much of it is dirt track again?? I reckon based on your video, it must be one of those that just has to go on a runners bucket list. Hope to see you guys on the road again soon. Sean
Hey Sean. We're missing them so much too. I've been quite sick for the past year or so now, so haven't been able to do much, but I think I'm getting better and will start making videos again. The race is about 37km or so off road, but very good roads. So think of it as a road race. The Marathon is the smaller of the two races, so if you do the race try do it over the half. It's without a doubt one of the best races in SA. For the scenery, the atmosphere and just the friendliness of the marshals. Only downside are the hills, rolling hills most of the way, with the worst Downhill and uphill I've ever experienced at around 36ish km in. You'll love it
Yes. The start is bitterly cold. They make fires which take the sting off. Dress warmer than you think for the start. They have bins to throw your jersey in after the start and these are donated to the community.

As far as beauty goes Knysna Forest Marathon ties with the Sani Stagger. As far as difficulty goes it's a very distant second.
Sani is number one on our bucket list.

I am scared, had Covid on 1st of May, last 10 weeks of training…. 🫣
Just take it slowly at the start because you'll need those legs and lungs at the end. Good luck and let us know how it goes!
