Thanks mate, I hope it work well, Yes thats it hey everybody has had bird shit welding and burnt holes in things and burnt themselves in there life. Haha
Thanks Porkhunt, Yes I am starting to do bigger trips again so thought I better take one, I had it in the boat last trip and in the back of the 80 series the trip before hopefully this is better
I really like these videos!! The corrugations and potholes on FNQ Dirt roads caused the roller and bunk supports to be pounded down past the grub screw stops on my stock-standard Dunbier tinny trailer, so I replaced them with threaded rod and jacking/locking nuts above and below the little box section where the grub screw goes. I also replaced the 3 middle rollers with a centreline of 11 keel rollers supported between 2 lengths of galvanised channel. They reckon it is best to get as much weight on the tinny keel as possible for the Cape, as well as avoiding grub screws. I can send pics if you want?
Thanks Mike for commenting,. Yes if I ever build a alloy trailer id set it up with more keel rollers. I been towing my trailer and boat up the Cape for 11 years without a drammer, all my rollers and posts are welded in place there not moving. I did Nhulunbuy last year in the wet season no troubles at all. the boat has around other 450kg of extra gear in it as well when I go north and it does them northern roads essay.
Good on you!! I don't dare take mine up the Cape. I did the trip a few years back and saw a trailer drawbar spear though the back of a Hiace Van. Leapt right up off the ball and into his van!. I just needed to ruggedise mine enough to cope with the local dirt roads in my backyard. PS I just used the old tyres trick you posted a video on to replace my axle and springs. Keep posting!@@craigtomkinson2837

Looks lovely Tonk, great idea, that's right if you don't know how to weld keep filling in the holes and keep grinding😂
