The first time I saw this movie in a cinema, I went back to watch it again and again and again, so I ended up seeing it 10 times. I did not get tired of watching it even I was so eager for the release of the VHS. Julia Migenes is THE BEST Carmen of all time!
The film was made with more humility and authenticity than you usually see in opera. The characters were poor, made their mistakes, and there was no safety net for them.
@@AlvaSudden - Very Authentic movie.. No BS fat soldiers or highly dressed factory workers BS. Even the extras act like real Spaniards.. Because they are.
Apart from the excellent singers and the maestro L. Maazel, the director Fr. Rosi did a great job by turning "Carmen", the most popular opera of all times, into a movie. As he had previously said it was the biggest challenge of his career. Quality cinematography at its best.
Es maravilloso como.Migenes encarna a Carmen. Voz, gestos, actitud, miradas, baile. Todo fantástico. Algunas cantantes famosisimas han hecho papelones y el ridículo en esta escena de la ópera.
After I saw this movie, I finally understood CARMEN. I still have my practically shredding VHS of this film, and I might just wake my VHS player up, and pop it. Again.
