Honestly, the charms like the Artifacts one is so fun. I feel like with some balancing around how they are handed out (maybe giving out similar rarity ones to people throughout the game as stages progress) they could be a fun and skillful mechanic
Encounters are big swings at a time (and not all the time) charms roll with your units, and you lose one slot every so often as you roll. I wholeheartedly think it's more RNG since you see the encounter coming, and you can plan around some of them. I'm doubtful I will play this set, I hated the encounter mechanic and this feels even worse

I don't think you understand fully why encounter is worse than charm. Encounter is a lobby-wise thing and everyone will have the same effect, and because of that, it favor the one who in position for it. For example, one guy is winstreaking 4th pick, and Irelia randomly comes in and say free pick in carousel, if you was lose streak 1st pick you're f*cked. Or Ahri give health to player, the one who lose streak and fortune benefit way more than the one at the top. Or when you just spent all your money leveling up, Khazix comes in with 3 gold exp buy, Malphite knock item off if you pick golden remover you lose an augment, -1 for reroll if you just out of money from reroll you also rekt. Why do you hate on Sett make you bigger, its the best encounter, doesn't mess up your game, and looking at big tactician is funny. Charm is smaller version of encounter which give smaller buff than encounter (not stage 6, but if you get there the game is almost over), and sometimes tailor toward you, and everyone can take advantage of that, not like encounter that happened randomly and favor 1 or 2 lucky person
