- Sometimes a locations "opens up" again and unveils its best finds.
It was a difficult hunt in a noisy environment next to a construction site. It was the same spot, where I found my latest gold ring. I decided to give it one more try.
The beginning was stressful. I stood next to a path and could see curious looking people passing by. It was a trashy area. Garbage that was left indicated that it must have been detected with "Disc" set above the foil and pull tab range (probably by different people over the years).
Nevertheless I was lucky to find a few overlooked ("Reichspfennig") coins.
When I investigated a spot to my left, "something blue" made of glass cough my eye. I reached for it and pulled the most beautiful bottle I could ever imagine to find. An item I dreamed about. It was a huge surprise, I would have never expected to happen.
Why was the bottle laying there? The bottom was sticking out, but probably not for a long amount of time. A boar family lives somewhere on top of this hill. They are coming down and disturbing the soil, while looking for roots. This was my luck! They must have moved the soil recently and uncovered the bottle.
I also found other nice items and was once again surprised, that it was still possible to extract something good out of this abandoned vineyard.

My grandfather used to collect bottles and lots of other things too. He had three small sheds full of shelving and old bottles. One bottle he had was worth over $2000. USA here. Your "Blue Bottle" is beautiful, it would go in a window at my house so the sun could bring it to life, I do not care what it was used for it is so pretty. You need not apologize for the noise in your videos there are so few places a person could go that there was no noise. Thank you for your time and all the work you do to bring these videos to us.

While moseying down a small stream in Maine, I found a small triangler blue poison bottle that I have kept since finding it 20 or so years ago
The cobolt blue bottle probably contained some type of medicine, date circa 1820 to early 1900s.

really nice example of a small blue apothecary bottle in great condition..long neck could suggest it had a cork that had a dropper for delivering the required dosage .date wise a little tricky..so I would think mid 1800s to early 1900s.its even possible its Bristol colbalt Blue glass and manufactured in Bristol,England not far from me actually .. as they produced many of those types of bottles..very nice find

Great Key find. Very pretty color blue. From using Cobalt in the making of the glass. Nice! And now you have the keyhole! And the Door Lock for the Key.... I thought it was a small metal safe type bank and maybe did have coins. I will have to practice the pull tab trick! :} Maybe she was cold and trying to shiver to warm up in the little sunshine on your sleeve, letting you know there is something for you to find soon.

How does anything grow there. The ground is like concrete? Looks like fun, our part of the country is not to old. Oldest coin we have found was 1865 2 cent pieces.. still looking ....

Wow, klasse Video und wieder super Funde... Die Reichspfennige sind echt super erhalten... Da hat man noch vernünftiges Material verwendet, zumindest vor dem zweiten Weltkrieg... Unsere BRD DM ist ne Katastrophe mit dem Eisenkern... Bei dem Kassetteschloss dachte ich schon du hättest den Jackpot gefunden... Dachte auch an einen Tresor oder Geldkassette.... Hätte ich dir gegönnt... Für mich ist auch die kleine(und ich denke die ist echt sehr alt) blaue Flasche das persönliche Highlight... Tolles Video... Hallo Michael, die Pfennige halten sich wirklich gut. Ich finde sie immer sehr gerne. Bei dem Schloss dachte ich auch, dass jetzt vielleicht Zeit für einen "richtigen Schatz" gekommen ist. Möglich wäre alles. Nach der blauen Flasche hielt sich die "Enttäuschung" natürlich in Grenzen.

Nice work. Love the 1855 coin, now thats getting real old ....... by our standards here in Australia, (for coins anyway). The piece of iron you left behind, could that have been the worn tip of an old sword? Great hunt MD24, really enjoyed it :)
Thank you very much, I consider "1855" as old too. Even when some of my coins are older, I still see everything below 19th century as an exception from the "norm".
The iron item was round. If it was flat, then maybe... :)

Vielen Dank, vielleicht meldet sich ein "Flaschensammler" der es zeitlich einordnen kann :). Alles was ich sehe sind asymmetrische Formen und Luftbläschen. "Neu" ist sie wohl nicht, obwohl... wenn jemand (z.B. ein Künstler) eine Werkstatt hat und alte Methoden verwendet, warum sollte es ihm nicht gelingen, eine solche Flasche noch heute herzustellen. Möglich wäre alles.

Thank you for watching. Hmm, I don't know Ed. I think, it would be a little bit too thin for it. If there was a massive chunk of metal attached to it underneath, the detector would probably tell it. I believe (whatever it is), it's probably a single item. Maybe some day I will find out...

I love the fact that you show the hole hunt and not just the good finds on top of the dirt pile but I also understand that many people don't have the will/time/taste to view videos with more than 1 hour. I also love to find things that arent metal while metal detecting, like roman glass and ceramic or stone tools from a long time ago...Thank you very much. Keep up the great videos.

1 - I see in your videos that most your finds are just beneath the surface. Your settings dont go very deep. Is that your choice not to dig very much?

1. I like to hunt with "Reactivity" set to "3" and "2" tones (because it's a very precise setting and the only option for me right now). It limits depth a little bit, but it gives me other advantages like better speed, precise audio information, better separation and probably penetration in mineralized soil.
If I could push a button and gain 20cm of depth (with this setting), I would press it so hard, that it would probably break.
I have no explanation why my finds are that shallow. When I use other settings (which I do from time to time), nothing really changes. Maybe my Deus is a lemon (I've seen a few air-tests from people with much better results).
2. I'm using a Sony FDR-X3000 as my main camera and a manually focused "Mobius Action Cam" (first version with the stock "A2" lens) for macros.

Hallo SondeM. Alte Flaschen finde ich unheimlich gerne. Ein richtiger "Flaschen-Detektor" wäre wirklich nicht schlecht. So muss man immer hoffen, eine an der Oberfläche zu erkennen. Man stelle sich nur vor, wie viele unter der Erde liegen müssen...

Endlich haste mal wieder n kleines Abzeichen aus dem 2. Weltkrieg gefunden. Dafür das du immer in solchen alten Wäldern unterwegs bist findest du auffallend wenige. LG und GF

How do all these coins get where you find them ?? I don't understand.
That's the mystery :). I assume, in this case, people were working there, taking off their jackets etc. Once a coin falls out of the pocket, it's very difficult to find (without a metal detector).

Too bad that blue bottle has no markings on it!! Could it be a medicine bottle? In the early 1800's it wouldn't be unusual for heroine, or some other narcotic, to be commonly on the open market....
Hello, yes markings would help to ID the bottle, but I'm sure that it's still possible. I really can't tell anything about its purpose, but I could imagine it being a medicine bottle. Maybe we will find out some day...

I think the first set of lettering on the square tablet shaped object is ENGUE which might be apart of the word DENUGE : an acute infectious disease caused by a flavivirus (species Dengue virus of the genus Flavivirus), transmitted by aedes mosquitoes, and characterized by headache, severe joint pain, and a rash..it could relate to something that was the treatment of......also would be in line with the small blue apothecary bottle you found...thus something else medical related

Hello, I don't have one particular place where I buy my gear. I bought the Sony camera on Amazon and the Mobius Action Cam in the UK. My (Deus) detector is like "Frankenstein". I bought it (complete) in Austria a few years ago, but I've purchased the newer HF coils in Germany (from two different dealers I believe) and the 11" coil in France (because they had a better offer).
I would suggest to look in your area for the best offer and/or a dealer with good reputation. Today I would probably consider something used from Ebay.

Hello Charlie, thank you for watching. To answer your question, yes, "big objects" are always a concern. I take it very seriously (to a reasonable extend, because even when I'm trying to be careful, anything can happen...).

How do you like using the pick axe? Compared to a shovel?
Hello Linda, I like it more and more. When I first bought it, I tried to cut hard soil with the flat side, instead of using the tip and then the blade). The metal on this pick axe is too soft for that.
Now (after a long break) I have changed my approach and it seems to work. I'm getting very efficient with it.
The shovel would be useless in comparison, it could not even penetrate the soil (on many occasions). I think, I will use the current (pick/knife) combination for a while (but I still have tons of recorded footage with the knife alone, or the shovel...).

The diamond-shaped Hitler Youth badge came out of the grip of a Hitler Youth knife. After the war they could be bought via the Post or in military surplus shops, and many were brought back as war souvenirs by veterans -- my 2 eldest brothers had a couple. When the West German Boy Scouts started back up around 1949, they removed the HY insignia from the grips and replaced them with Scout insignia. They show up on Ebay all the time. But who was the German guy before WWI who lost his pocket change? A German tourist getting bizzy with some English farm girl? Hmmm....

Why you dont use flecktarn camo ? In the woods it is "der beste"
I don't want to look like a soldier. "Normal" clothes (with neutral green/brawn colors) are the better option for me. I also (often) take the bus or a train. I think, I would stand out wearing camo... and I prefer to "blend in".

@@MetalDetecting24 I'm sure the outcome would be different also. Mainly because Most people watching videos are expecting this form of communication to be both visual and audible. I can understand how you feel about disconnecting with nature but at the same time it seems to me if you were hunting or bird watching that might apply but when digging and filming it seems to me you are already disconnected from nature in a way. And as far as disturbing your thought process whether you are thinking it aloud or silently in your head seems like you are still thinking it. Not saying the way you are doing it is wrong ,because everyone is entitled to create in their own way. I'm just saying it is sort of like going to a video and all that is there is the audio. You lose so much communication when you limit one or the other.

Adrian - To each their own. He is honest and provides a realistic detecting video. He edited out over half of the trip, cutting it down to just over an hour, with the photos at the end.
