Such an awesome restoration! Thank you very much for the detailed presentation of this incredible project! Love the steam gauge/glass panel combination...looks awesome...all of it!👍🇺🇸✈️ (also, love the seat design and the 4-place bucket seating, and the sound dampening materials...a must for any aircraft restoration project! So smartly restored Y'all)!
Looking good. Not having owned an aircraft, I have had to learn both full G1000 and addition to the GPS with 'steam gauge' instruments. I actually prefer the GTN 650/750 with the standard 6 pack over the G1000. Had to look up where in IN you were located. I grew up in bicycle riding distance of KCVG and my older brother went to HS in the late 50's at a seminary on Lake Wawasee. I like Cherokees.
Very nice. I hope your daughter really appreciates what Dad is doing/has done for her. I'm sure she does. When the avionics went into the aircraft, I was kind of surprised you didn't go with a PFD, even an Aspen, but of course, that was your call. However, now with the STC on the Garmin G5 both as a attitude indicator and HSI/DG version, are you considering removal and replacement of the attitude indicator and DG? I also would be interested in what this airplane has cost you so far, and what you expect it to cost you by the time you're finished. I'm pretty sure it's going to be a lot less than a new Arrow would cost, but also, I expect it would be a lot more than what a used one on the market would cost. I'm figuring upwards of $200,000 if it was being done for a customer. Anyway, Sydney is going to end up with something even better than a convertible car for her 16th, 17th and 18th birthday, that's for sure! :D
8/10/2019 I have owned two Arrows and flown lots of IFR cross country. I have never needed GPS, the old steam gagues and ipad loaded with Foreflight is all i need. The 750 you installed is a complete waste of money. Spend your money on fuel to fly the airplane, not on toys to see how they function. That $7000 engine analyzer is also a complete waste of money. In a piper arrow all you need to know is exhaust gas temperature under 1500, cylinder head temperature under 340, and your fuel flow set for 9 gallons an hour at 55% cruise. A $1500 engine analyzer is all you need. After a while you can set the power to match those numbers blindfolded.
