I wouldn't say that I understand why some manufacturers make their Q. Red with PV19. PV19 as its name says is a violet or a cool dark red leaning towards rose, while PR209 is a red and though it can mix violets when mixed with blue, these are not so clean as those that you can get with Q. Rose PV19.
I'm neither that sure what is the purpose of PR209 in a all primary palette selection.
If you want to mix oranges you can get them either with PR188 ( the so called Scarlet Lake) that is an orange ish red or with PR254 and if you want to use PR209 as a brilliant red, PR254 is more brilliant and stronger that PR209.
PR209 is not suitable for neutralizing blue colours and is not suitable for neutralizing yellows because it mixes purples and greens but not in so clean and bright mixes that you can get from other colours.

Hi Jaime, I’m back watching this again. I got the Sennelier pr209 awhile back, and have found the DS quin coral to be slightly more Orange than the Sennelier quin red - pr209. I like the more red/pink hue of the Sennelier, But the DS quin coral does have more glow-neon look to it. I use both, and if I had to choose I’d pick DS. I’m wondering what your thoughts are about the Holbein one? It looks less smooth here, but looks very very glowing, is that what you think too?

Really love these comparison videos! This one came up while researching pr209, I have the DS quin coral and it’s gorgeous. But I wanted to add a pr209 to my Honey-based palette. I decided on Sennelier instead of m Graham because it looked brighter in swatch videos. Everywhere I saw M Graham quin red swatched out it looked really thin and dull, (it’s looks better here in your swatches, but still not as bright and saturated, right?) so strange for M Graham to look life-less! I’m hoping the Sennelier looks bright like the Daniel Smith 🙏 thanks for another awesome resource!

Thank you:) I think you made the right choice with sennelier; while I haven't tried it they are known for their reds. I don't like the M Graham version as it is very light and has an odd texture to it.

The texture of the m Graham is gloopy. That is the only way to describe it... like you are painting with honey with a little pigment in it.

@@reneaclark7689 I am not a fan of M Graham Quin's. The Rose and Violet seem fine. The red is grainy and has a weird texture when you put it down.

I didn't do them on this one. Sorry about that. I would check dickblick for the best prices. I'll add links tonight:)
