Just today I did %temp% into the search bar below and chose all, then skipping what couldn't be deleted. I didn't have as many to clean up, I do it from time to time, on my Win10.
HI.I use davinci resolve. When I delete the temp, won't the operation of the program or saved program settings and my personal settings be disturbed? I have 6,20GB temp 😕
I don't have davinci resolve however I regularly clean out temp, %temp% and prefetch. I have never lost a file or had issues with any programs. It does speed up the computer!
Not just you, it is a contradiction. I assume he meant to edit out the first statement because it IS potentially unsafe to choose every option. For example you may not want to clear the downloads folder if you have things in there that you want to go back to.
When you install a feature update such as Window 11 24H2, Windows creates a folder called Windows.old. This folder will automatically be deleted after 10 days
@@davidf6326 LOL. OK, that's funny. Yeah. that's an editing scrap that should have been removed. I WISH TH-cam would let me edit or updated the video, but I can't. My only option is to take it down and then upload a new one. Sigh.

TIL: %tmp% cmd works the same as %temp% cmd. Thanks for sharing!
Leo- on Windows Servers we often have to use DISK CLEANUP - it removes Gigabytes of space but only after the server is rebooted.
Great, cadenced, clear instructions for us non-techies. Thanks, Leo!

You are a great Tutor! Thank you!
This has been going on since windows 3.1.
Is it worth to create a system restore point before cleaning system files as at the end? Or not as much?
Are temp files shared? Can apps read each other's temp files? Should each app have a separate folder? Are access rights per file or per folder?
All temp files are available to all processes for the same user. Some temp files may be locked, but that is relatively rare.
Interesting! Thanks for the tip on "download" file. Was not aware. JimE

Am I missing something here? It sounds like you make two statements in a row 09:00 that contradict one another. 😕 Or is my hearing playing up?

In Windows 11 24H2, Microsoft hid disk cleanup, but it still exists.
ccleaner and cleanmgr can get rid of this
Windows Disk Cleanup can also clean them up. In Windows 11, go to Settings app and Storage
@@davinp yes i know and using windows 10 22h2 here not 11 thanks
Also located at C:\Windows\Temp
wow it look like you contradicted yourself here?
How?
Ah, it's not my hearing then, you noticed it too 😊 09:00
