Hi Josh, great episode, there are some products that I really wish would came back to production, like the Banana Boost, the Patriot combo and the Dual Fuzz. I think you should do a Fuzelleta some day, pedal, were we can select different kinds of classic Fuzz sounds, like Germanium and Silicon FF, at least a Muff and a Tone Bender, a Maetro Fuzz Tone, a Xin-ei Super Fuzz, etc. It certainly would clear my board of at least half a dozen pedals.

@@deanmlshredder 😂😂 funny you’d reply today! I just shipped the one I made out to a guy who bought it on Reverb. I asked 200and took the offer of 185. When you say flip flop switch, you mean the gain switch, right? I used a PCB from PedalPCB.com and their PCB is version 1, with the hi-cut switch.

Maybe another episode could be about “Pedal Scandals?” Like when weird turn-of-events dramatically increased (or decreased) a pedal’s value. That would be pretty interesting.
Lee ..if he looks outside of JHS, there’s the Pussy Melter, the Vertex Axis Wah, and some other situations where manufacturers (often Far East) super blatantly ripped off a well-established circuit and got called out on it, yet the pedal goes on to be sought-after. He’s mentioned one or two in passing before I think.. Would definitely be a cool episode but getting a decent amount of the pedals might be hard.. I don’t think there’s any legal issues accurately reporting on cases where there was a legally established outcome (e.g. Vertex even has a webpage dedicated to the Axis debacle)..
Dude, I had a handpainted Klone. Sold it a year later. The only thing that didn't stop me from jumping off a cliff was that I sold it back to JHS. I miss that pedal so much.
I really wish you’d bring back the custom shop. That was such a cool thing to have, and a lot of cool custom designs came out of it. It was unique and what set JHS apart from other companies at that time.
I’ll take a copy of the children’s book. My daughter loves unicorns and reading new books. And I love guitar pedals and univibe pedals at that. Haha. It’s a prefect combo. Loud is more good!!!
Your conversation with PRS reminds me that you are about the most opposite personality to him that could possibly exist. PRS never turns off the continuous hard sell of his own instruments, while you are pleased to talk about every other pedal in the world in addition to your own.
I had one of the first year Rat distortion pedals. It was actually my very first pedal. I have no idea what ever became of it now though, but wish I still had it. That was an awesome pedal.

You can make Panther Cub even smaller if you use the concentric potentiometers, the ones with two twisty things? Imagine a mini Panther Cub, the space inside would be so cramped, you would need to hydraulic press the components inside.
JHS what's up with your website and then what's going on with the Colour box? Sites so it's no longer available and on Reverb they are selling for more than original cost? Not sure if I missed something, anyways I love my Colour Box.
Josh you’re a very honorable man, but is the KTR really available? I’ve never seen it sold anywhere except resales with a huge mark up. Bring it back for all your fans.
Steven Ohata Yes, it is actually available, but they sell very quickly from actual dealers when new shipments arrive. They sell for about $270. If you really want a new one I would recommend reaching out to Humbucker Music or Chicago Music Exchange either their website or their Reverb shops.
Hey Josh, I've been stumbling on power supplies, since I have to arrange another pedalboard for practice purposes at home and I've been wondering, what about those Joyo, Caline, etc power supplies, are they really isolated, and what isolated really means. I already understand the concepts but people may not and I think it may be a good idea for a new chapter of the show

KC: I understand your distress over pedal prices, but comparing computers and HDTV’s that are produced by the millions in Chinese sweat shops to pedals made in the USA in limited quantities by workers paid a living wage with benefits is unfortunately not a fair comparison. I’m as bummed out as you are, but if you play Made in USA pedals you have to pay Made in USA prices.

Your proprietary pedal product line is great. As for my thoughts on the War On Drugs, I would like to mention the following. The powers that be, should effective immediately cease and desist waging the war on recreational drugs, and just legalize them. My reasoning for taking this position on the issue being based on the following presumption. The legalization and decriminalization of all recreational drugs, would among other things bring about an expedited end to all of the violence typically associated with this activity. That is my position on the issue. And as such, best sums up my thoughts on the War On Drugs. Finally, with regards to your question concerning what my favorite song and album are. I can't answer that question simply, because I have too many favorite songs and too many favorite albums. Respectfully submitted.
Got an Astro Mess Fuzz on Ebay because I'm a huge Switchfoot fan, I LOVE it. Especially stacking it with my Charlie Brown v2 (both set pretty low on gain). Would love to hear more about the Bun Runner in a future episode/your relationship with Switchfoot in general!

So I started watching your back log of content don't know why it took me so long to find your show. Literally been following earthquaker and walrus audio for years. I'm glad I found your show. Thanks for your music suggestions. They've been awesome. I'm going to throw one out there for you it's a little heavier and on a side of weird. Not sure if you've heard of them but it's King Gizzard & The Wizard Lizard. They've got two kit drummers a bassist a keyboard player and three guitar players and pretty much assault you with a massive wall of filthy goodness. Thanks again man. Great content.
Clearly, you need to release your own "Waza" re-issues in another 5 years or so. Kudos for discontinuing the Klon clone. I used to have a scanned copy of the old Jack Darr guitar amp book on my webpage, because it had become largely unavailable by any means. When I saw that the folks who publish Glass Audio magazine were set to re-issue the Darr book, I immediately pulled the files. If they were going to go to the trouble of reprinting that classic, they deserved to make a bit of money from it. Ya gotta do what's right. The Klon is probably one of the least well understood pedals ever. For some reason, people think they could simply plug it into a mixer or a super-clean power amp, and it would sound amazing. Bill always intended it to make a *tube amp* sound amazing, not as a distortion pedal on its own. People can kvetch about how (now, 25 years later) it's "nothing special", and overpriced, but Bill was one of the first, if not THE first, to think about signal tone-shaping for purposes of extracting best amp overdrive, and deserves every last bit of credit for kickstarting that trend. I can't speak to others' build quality (including your own), but in a brief sort of collaboration Bill and I had in 2007, he sent me a pair of ungooped boards to work with, and I was immediately impressed with the build quality. Bill *deserves* your money. Sadly, the care he put into determining if the Klon was "right" for each potential buyer ate into his build time, and consumer impatience led to the hyper-inflated resale prices on E-Bay, that in turn prompted some owners to see them as "investments". A pox on them! Question: When you decide to stop making a given pedal, do you just ship out all existing stock and let whatever has been shipped sell at its own rate until its gone, or do you retain a small portion for special customer requests?

Until just a couple weeks ago I have completely ignored Elvis, my entire life. I decided to lesrn about him so I started reading and watching everything on him I could find. What a cool person he was. We owe alot to Mr. Elvis Presley. Its amazing how much he influenced modern culture. In ways you would never imagine.

I will take my JHS Klon to the grave with me. I've played at least 6 or 7 other clones and nothing can touch the JHS. The KTR is great but unfortunately, I didn't have the JHS to compare it side by side like the others. I don't know what special sauce Doug Beyer poured in this when he was building it but no pedal to date has made my marshalls scream like a proper English gentleman the way the Klon does. Rick Beato and his engineer Ken Lanyon really loved it when we were recording with him years and years ago.
Coming fresh off the D.O.D video, I love how excited he gets about the subtle things. The puns, the imagery, the implications of things. It's wholesome, lovely, and entertaining.

Recently (near the end of 2021), you posted on Instagram celebrating your 100,000th pedal built FOR THE YEAR (not all-time, just 2021 alone). Some of these pedals were "killed" when JHS was a much smaller company. Do you ever think about bringing some of these pedals back now that you're a bigger company with a bigger audience? ...Do you ever think about bringing the Pandamonium back? ...Can you bring the Pandamonium back? And the line " I met a man with a broken back " Last December I had an alcoholic withdrawal seizure & blacked out & fell down 14 stairs at home. Snapped 7 vertebrae in my spine & snapped my sternum & fractured my hip. I also lost all feeling in my left hand so couldn't play guitar for 6 months but that has since come back. Thank fuck! Just waiting to see if I get surgery to snap me back into place. I went from 6 ft tall to 5ft 5 ". How crazy is that shit? Lol. I gotta laugh or I will cry! Ha! Cheers Josh. Stay safe man. Your proprietary pedal product line is great. As for my thoughts on the War On Drugs, I would like to mention the following. The powers that be, should effective immediately cease and desist waging the war on recreational drugs, and just legalize them. My reasoning for taking this position on the issue being based on the following presumption. The legalization and decriminalization of all recreational drugs, would among other things bring about an expedited end to all of the violence typically associated with this activity. That is my position on the issue. And as such, best sums up my thoughts on the War On Drugs. Finally, with regards to your question concerning what my favorite song and album are. I can't answer that question simply, because I have too many favorite songs and too many favorite albums.

Thanks for your music suggestions. They've been awesome. I'm going to throw one out there for you it's a little heavier and on a side of weird. Not sure if you've heard of them but it's King Gizzard & The Wizard Lizard. They've got two kit drummers a bassist a keyboard player and three guitar players and pretty much assault you with a massive wall of filthy goodness. Thanks again man. Great content.

Kudos for discontinuing the Klon clone. I used to have a scanned copy of the old Jack Darr guitar amp book on my webpage, because it had become largely unavailable by any means. When I saw that the folks who publish Glass Audio magazine were set to re-issue the Darr book, I immediately pulled the files. If they were going to go to the trouble of reprinting that classic, they deserved to make a bit of money from it. Ya gotta do what's right.
The Klon is probably one of the least well understood pedals ever. For some reason, people think they could simply plug it into a mixer or a super-clean power amp, and it would sound amazing. Bill always intended it to make a *tube amp* sound amazing, not as a distortion pedal on its own. People can kvetch about how (now, 25 years later) it's "nothing special", and overpriced, but Bill was one of the first, if not THE first, to think about signal tone-shaping for purposes of extracting best amp overdrive, and deserves every last bit of credit for kickstarting that trend. I can't speak to others' build quality (including your own), but in a brief sort of collaboration Bill and I had in 2007, he sent me a pair of ungooped boards to work with, and I was immediately impressed with the build quality. Bill *deserves* your money. Sadly, the care he put into determining if the Klon was "right" for each potential buyer ate into his build time, and consumer impatience led to the hyper-inflated resale prices on E-Bay, that in turn prompted some owners to see them as "investments". A pox on them!
Question: When you decide to stop making a given pedal, do you just ship out all existing stock and let whatever has been shipped sell at its own rate until its gone, or do you retain a small portion for special customer requests?

I bought that children’s book when our first kid was born. I really love reading it to her.
I will take my JHS Klon to the grave with me. I've played at least 6 or 7 other clones and nothing can touch the JHS. The KTR is great but unfortunately, I didn't have the JHS to compare it side by side like the others. I don't know what special sauce Doug Beyer poured in this when he was building it but no pedal to date has made my marshalls scream like a proper English gentleman the way the Klon does.
Rick Beato and his engineer Ken Lanyon really loved it when we were recording with him years and years ago.
Update: People are now listing the Klons on reverb for over $2000. Absolute lunacy.

Recently (near the end of 2021), you posted on Instagram celebrating your 100,000th pedal built FOR THE YEAR (not all-time, just 2021 alone). Some of these pedals were "killed" when JHS was a much smaller company. Do you ever think about bringing some of these pedals back now that you're a bigger company with a bigger audience? ...Do you ever think about bringing the Pandamonium back? ...Can you bring the Pandamonium back? I would like a Pandamonium.

I love it all but a fave is the track pain and the line " like a demon in a doorway waiting to be born ". And the line " I met a man with a broken back " Last December I had an alcoholic withdrawal seizure & blacked out & fell down 14 stairs at home. Snapped 7 vertebrae in my spine & snapped my sternum & fractured my hip. I also lost all feeling in my left hand so couldn't play guitar for 6 months but that has since come back. Thank fuck! Just waiting to see if I get surgery to snap me back into place. I went from 6 ft tall to 5ft 5 ". How crazy is that shit? Lol. I gotta laugh or I will cry! Ha! Cheers Josh. Stay safe man.
