When raising my 4 children,i cooked everything homemade, and living on a farm, now all kids grown and have families of their own. I put up jars using water canning and pressure cooker. Now i grind my wild turkey, duck and freeze it. I make turkey sausages every year. Im glad you are feeding your family well. Great video,God bless you!
Another great idea I’d never thought of doing! I’ve got a few turkeys with hate in their hearts to put in some jars. The turkeys this year have a thing of trying to peck out the goats 👀 eyeballs.
I absolutely love your videos line this one, and the infinity candle content type also. There is just so much knowledge within this channel, I've learned SO MUCH!! Ty so much for sharing this, may God bless y'all 💙💙
After every new year I pick up several turkeys on the cheap but I just bake them normally then afterwards I separate the major pieces into some gallon bags for freezing. This is something that I will have to try doing this coming year...for me the water-bath method as I do not have a pressure canner. Thank you for showing this method! :)
Just in time . I picked up 3 turkeys this week. Iv done the raw pack from a whole turkey but your method of doing the hard parts making a bone broth looks a whole lot easier. 😊 Thanks for all your tips !! God Bless !!! ❤❤
That looks soooo good! I have never seen turkeys on sale after the holidays. Maybe I've just not paid attention! I usually have one or two in my freezer and I'm wondering just how long they last in there before freezer burn?
As long as the seal last it’s good. Usually about 25 years. Most people try to eat and replace within 5 years because the nutritional value starts going down after that.
Not sure of the brand. It was a gift. But I almost always cut meat with a fillet life. Use for cleaning fish. Can find then usually in the fishing/sporting stores. They are sharper and hold their edge better than most knives
When cooking I save the trimmings from onions skins etc, celery, carrots etc in a large zip lock freezer bag in freezer till I have enough to make broth.
Separate unless you let the broth jars cool down completely. If you do that, you can process them together. Otherwise do them separately because you can’t mix hot and cold jars together.
@Survival HT Do you really think farm raised turkey is healthy, especially since they're tossed into a 200 ft long round top, feed them with steroids, antibiotics and who knows what else from an automated silo, then they have a person walk through once a week to remove the dead ones until they're grown in about seven weeks. These birds never see the sun. I'd honestly like to hear your opinion on this.
Home raised is always best, but of course not everyone has that option. So people do what they can. Commercial meat farms are often extremely cruel places. That’s why we raise a lot of our own meat. To make sure the animals have the best life possible. However, I do understand that most people just simply don’t have that option. And in this economy, a lot of people are struggling just to feed their families. So if getting a turkey on sale after Christmas helps them put some meat on the shelf. It’s healthier than not having anything, or having to eat pork and chicken for every meal that was raised the same, Orin even worse conditions. I tried to give everyone options, knowing that not everyone is in the same situation. 🤷♀️

What brand of knives do you use? I need this one for sure

If you use a waterbath pot instead of the canned how much water would you add to it since you said 2 cups for the pressure canner?
That dog is beautiful, what kind is it?
A Dane

Who's calling me a turkey !😊

Turkey and dumplings
Absolutely!!!!!
Great suggestion!
mostly for homemade soup and broth
Did you process the raw meat and the turkey and broth together or separate ?
