  • I decided to give myself another project and take my 36" Hunter Comfort Breeze blades and put them on my gear driven fan. The result was pretty interesting.

    2:24 Dang dude! I'd think that fan was broken if I didn't know it was gear driven! Sounds like a Kitchenaid mixer!

    You can actually get metal gear for the ceiling fan instead of plastic
    First he take the gears out of the ceiling fan and coat them in oil then you push the gears into clay to mold the shape of the gears gently pull the gears from the mold.pour molten aluminum into the mold then drill the holes in the gears and tap them

    Sounds like a 3 phase motor upon windup to full speed, these should have come from the factory like this. Putting it on the 2 and 1 settings on the controller wouldn’t change the speed much, I can tell by the sound of the motor that it’s already close to max speed, (3000 rpms), the grinding was likely just motor vibration between the gears, the gears have to be able to withstand the full torque of the motor and these blades actually reduce load on the gears.

    • @nickhizfanz6569
      @nickhizfanz6569  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I did not think the motor could handle that many rpms, and that makes sense, the grinding just did not sound normal so I didn't want to take the risk considering the gears made of plastic. Yes these blade do reduce the weight so I knew the motor would at least handle the #3 speed.

  • @ThunderClawShocktrix
    @ThunderClawShocktrix ปีที่แล้ว +2

    its actually going to be under less load even at high speed like that with short blades, that's how it got so fast the only real danger is the grease flying off the gears which could be solved by using some thick grease on the gear teeth

    It would be interesting to see if you could put a spinner motor in it from another fan.

      @@nickhizfanz6569 Dan Spiffy Neuman converted a Nutone friction drive ceiling fan to a spinner motor in this video. th-cam.com/video/aM5C6tDY_O0/w-d-xo.html I know they are two totally different fans but am curious if it is possible to convert one to a spinner motor. I would think getting the gear with the blades attached would be the hardest part to get to spin with a spinner motor.
